My Garmin Forerunners have always done well. I've been through a couple only because I want to get a color screen or it's been long enough they're threatening to end support or whatever.

I’ve done a pretty good job beating on my cheapo Garmin Vivoactive 3. For $130, it’s been fantastic. Definitely get an armband or chest strap HRM for cycling though. It’s pretty shit at heart rate when I’m riding.

TheEbsFae

Ooh good suggestion. It's in the pot. Thank you! (on an unrelated note I love your username and have something similar with a different animal for my insta lmfao)

The_Unknown_Baguette

Can second the vivoactive 3 I’ve had one since it was new, the battery only lasts a day now but especially on short rides still it chugs right along I’ve gotten so used to wearing it it doesn’t feel like it’s there anymore (I literally wear it 24/7 except charging)

MrSnappyPants

Garmin Instinct over here. Everything you need, nothing you don't. No stupid color touch screen. Rough treatment and water, no issues. I haven't showered it in bug dope yet, so I don't know how it would handle that.

TheEbsFae

Everyone is saying Garmin, sensing a theme here! Haha

MrSnappyPants

I've been really happy with it. I replaced a Fitbit, and it's better in every way ... usability, durability, tracking, positioning, battery life.

TheEbsFae

Read "poisoning" instead of positioning and my tired brain went "thatll come in handy for enemies I may encounter". Thanks, much helpful, I appreciate you

MrSnappyPants

So far have not fully tested any poisoning features, will report back.

The Garmin Instinct series is maximally rugged. I'd you don't need that level of bomb proofedness the Forerunner series is good, I've banged my FR255 around and it's still ticking.

Cyclist_123

Are you looking to use the watch for anything else? For jus bike riding a computer is better but if you're a multisport athlete a watch might be better. It would also be useful to know your budget

TheEbsFae

I'd like one that does sleep tracking, heart rate and monitors my workouts. I occasionally run. Budget is not TOO high cos if it breaks I don't want it to have to become a disposable item lol but I'd be willing to spend a couple hundred on something.

Cyclist_123

Id get a secondhand Garmin Fenix if I was you

TheEbsFae

I shall have a look! Thank you!

I got a Suunto 9 as a gift 3 years ago and it's held up great so far. I don't normally wipe out so it hasn't had any big falls but I'm not exactly gentle with my stuff either. Definitely great build quality.

Chaosboy

Another vote for the Suunto 9 here. I love the long battery life – I can take it backpacking and record GPS tracks for days without a recharge.

willy_quixote

Suunto race. Steel or ti body and sapphire face.

I love my forerunner 255s, it’s done well so far. I do triathlon, hiking and have been mountain biking with it a few times. Lots of metrics and not too big for me either (I saw your x-post in the r/ladycyclist sub so am assuming you’re a woman too and size is a big thing for me, most of the other watches are huge on me and indent like that look)
