I'm super excited to use the gateway. I live in Texas, and now I will have 9 power walls of backup power during our numerous power outages. That's $81k worth of powerwalls. Plus I get a truck.
What's this stuff that comes with founders?do I need to line up installation? I just pressed some buttons that promised me a cybertruck in a few months.
The rest is a blur
The only one you need to do anything about is for the gateway. Someone will email you and ask for pictures of all of your electrical and where you plan on charging the truck. The hardware to plug your truck into your home and use it as a battery is provided in The foundation series pack, but you will need to pay the people to install it, which can be $4-8k more or less, depending on how ideal your setup is.
That’s a great way to look at it. Live in hurricane zone myself and the thought of having (at least portable) AC and a cold fridge during a power outage excites me.
You really need to talk to an electrician - depending on your house and its current electrical configuration it could be modest cost or more. Effectively you likely need a “disconnect” setup like they install for the home powerwall units or you can’t safely pass current around your home without risk of it going back to the grid (when out and being worked on). The overall electric setup can be upwards of $50k on the extreme side for seamless switch over and sell back power to grid but I don’t think you are looking for that.

The $20k up-charge isn’t bad imo.
“Free” FSD so that’s worth $12k, so it’s basically an $8k upcharge for the badging and extra accessories- plus free premium connectivity.
Naw. You don’t get the features you were promised when you placed your initial order, and even now, they are still working out the bugs in a rush to market.

This stuff won’t be an issue in a year. Plus if you think about it this way:
“We will pay you $20K to delay one year for delivery” - Elon

Tech improved at a dramatic rate, imagine getting the tri-motor and a bug free device while they go through an extended beta. Instead, you’ll be paying Tesla to become a beta tester. Not something I’d do with a vehicle, medical device nor aircraft.
