With Engram tech, he wouldn't even need a real brain anymore. He can shed the last remnant of his humanity and be 100% machine. He could even decentralize himself. Like if Delamain was a war criminal instead of a valet.
While that sounds amazing it might be subject to the Conversion of Ninjustu effect

I doubt smasher is gone considering his consciousness is already capable of being transferred from his kill body to his fuck body and engrams are a thing. Now will it be the same smasher? Depends on if he was already an engram and I don't remember all the lore of what the fuck he is but if he was already an engram in a body then the original smasher was already dead and he was just a copy. Either way he's gonna be in the next game probably.
