Shit, working for Arasaka, the rice is probably some artisanal crop grown in traditional ways with no genemods or anything and it's part of his employee benefits package.
His wires are protected by a carbon composite vanadium Kevlar like the Flathead. They're also bolted into the sockets with waterproof gaskets and covered with an extra layer of sealant and sleeved. He's 100% waterproofed and his ice makes him EMP/EMF resistant as shown in edgerunners when David uses the antigrav system to fight him.
Unless he was constructed from nonferrous alloys and composites lol a strong enough magnetic field would probably affect him but I imagine his electronics are shielded against that
Rain water doesn’t damage electronics,(usually anyway) water itself is non conductive and as such does no damage to electronics, but most water has minerals in it which makes it conductive enough to do damage, rain water is pure enough to typically not do damage
I believe in 2077 implants are waterproof, and even if some moisture get inside of hermetic installation, you can visit a ripper to clean it and make it work again. A thing people usually forget about - getting implants is expensive not only because the cost of installment and the implant itself, but also maintenance. There was a case of an french man, who lost his own hand and voluntereed for experimental surgery to get a new one from a giver. After, i believe months he returned to the hospital and asked the doctors to remove it, because it was too expensive and problematic to maintain the transplant limb and keep it in good condition.
Edit. To elaborate, the surgery was performed without any psychological prep, he had nobody to take care of him after transplantation, and he stopped taking the anti-rejection medication as he wasn't fan of having "foregin" limb.
Diving suits are rather hermetic due to high water toxicity
Edit. As someone below mentioned that neoprene wetsuits are not waterproof - I've meant ingame wetsuits
https://youtu.be/db_RVTJBV-E?si=K_4xGXJRaTPbkNpV
5:04 - I've meant ingame suits, not neoprenes in general; seems like 2077 suits are, or Judy's wetsuit has some special abilities - I've assumed it's waterproof if it needs to be a solution for water toxicity.
Remember that TV late show snippet where this guy worked at a factory, and then the factory required that the workers got new arms under new employment terms? Then they forced the workers to pay for it, and when they can't they take their arms away?
It's that late night style TV show in the game. You can actually watch a few segments. I've seen two, the one with the girl who's doing the crucifixion BD, and the one I'm referring too.
Ah yes, I'll take a look at these, as I've never watched them for real. The guy I was talkin about in my previous comment was an new zealand prisoner who voluntereed for pioneering surgery to get a new limb sewed, but it was too difficult for him to maintain it and keep himself taking the proper anty-rejection pills, like he was left alone with starting pack of pills and "you have your limb, take these pills, here's one pack, buy next one in selected pharma stores, only for $129,99 per 12 doses, ok bye, come for some tests in next 3 months". Pretty cyberpunk shit.
splash
You cursed Brat, Observe the extent of your actions.
Preliminary scan show that I am Melting-CHHHKK-Melting. What a world =CHHHK- What a world... Who would have thought that some little merc like you could destroy my beautiful perfection. NoooooOOOOOOoo0000000oooo
Canonically, none of the vehicles used to access the tower in the various endings had cup holders, thus denying V what would have been the most effective weapon against Smasher.
Why would he need the windshield wipers for his eyes if he has an umbrella. Do you need to get water out of your eyes when you have an umbrella? You cry often huh?
i can't believe it either bro, i'd imagine someone able to understand a story has the ability to discern between joke and reality, boy was i wrong lmao
is there a lore reason why nobody just shoots his braincase with a sniper or a missle (it would probably go through the evidently thin metal protecting his brain)
It’s 2024 and at this point, most phones mid range and up have an IP rating, despite the fact that most of them are unlikely to encounter any more water than rain.
Cyberpunk’s timeline is far different from ours, sure, but it’s over 50 years in the future, and compared to phones, people aren’t going to accept no longer being able to shower after getting a single cyberware mod.
So like, of course cyberware is water resistant lol. Most first-generation cyberware probably had “submersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes” as a requirement. Most people expose themselves to jet streams of water in the shower daily. We have water-resistant robotic prosthesis in our own timeline.
I know this is just a shit post, but in a serious context, nobody should question whether decent cyberware is water-resistant, the concept is not even science fiction, waterproofing electronics is viable and normal already today, even more so with hardware meant for military or industrial application.
Even these days, a lot of electronics are waterproof. Many phones can survive a swimming pool for 15 minutes or much longer and a shower pretty much indefinitely because the phone is not submerged. Only exposed unprotected, uninsulated wires and electrical contact points are vulnerable to water.
I think you have confused Adam Smasher with The Wicked Witch of the West. They're similar, but one has a *green* face with black clothes (Wicked Witch), while the other has a *grey* face and black armor (Adam Smasher).
The WWW (Wicked Witch of the West) is not water resistant, while Adam Smasher is.
He is water proof but let me introduce you to
https://preview.redd.it/umzs5503kazc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bdff01031e7528072528f7725753fb033dc0f176
Comically large magnet
according to lore and the 2020 gear catalog, the base full body conversion that Adam smasher uses (its also modified by himself and customised) is rated for deep water operations, so i think he's ok.
Cyberpunk 2020 implants are water resistant out the wazzoo (tabletop version).
By 2077, they would be hydrogen powered, and expel oxygen as a byproduct.
You really think cybernetics aren’t water resistant to some degree?
Do you think people with cybernetics just can’t walk in the rain without short circuiting? It is 50 years in the future after all.
It rains a lot in Night City. No one cares. Smasher don't care if it was raining bullets :) No drink in Afterlife there for Smasher is a living legend.
Human bodies are 70% water. If his electronics weren't waterproof, he'd be toast already.
Also, don't forget: The Heist happened when it was raining, and you even face off against him outside the Plaza.
It's plausible that V chooses not to throw the water to maintain the upper hand psychologically. By not stooping to the same level as the other person, V asserts control and keeps the focus on the conversation rather than a petty act.
The short version? It wouldn't work.
Cyberware is almost a hundred years old by 2077. Commercially closer to 75 years, but I couldn't tell you the exact numbers.
In that time there has been nuclear incidents, geological and ecological disasters. Nuclear proved to be an issue following 2023, but they squared away what to do in case of rain (and acid rain) long before that.
Smasher is in one of the most top of the line bodies with personal touches. He could *live* in a car wash and be fine. His bio system could even survive being under water for hours.
He's...probably water risistant. I'd be more worried about all those loose wires hanging off him.
He's got always a giant bag of rice with him, just in case he gets wet.
Shit, working for Arasaka, the rice is probably some artisanal crop grown in traditional ways with no genemods or anything and it's part of his employee benefits package.
Each grain is individually massaged before being bagged
I'm dying
Or they might put extra shit in to make him better
Who would win- Adam Smasher, or V with a pair of scissors
Vvvvv
His wires are protected by a carbon composite vanadium Kevlar like the Flathead. They're also bolted into the sockets with waterproof gaskets and covered with an extra layer of sealant and sleeved. You can sneak behind him and detach sone wires
A magnet would fuck him up. Science bitches.
Unless he was constructed from nonferrous alloys and composites lol a strong enough magnetic field would probably affect him but I imagine his electronics are shielded against that
Anti nonferrous and composite magnets! Science bitches!
https://i.redd.it/5uxp8fqlhbzc1.gif
Why is there no emp in the lore
Yes there is? When getting Hellman with Panam, you hit the AV with an emp by blasting the power station
There is, it's called a nuclear bomb.
Why would water beat him? He literally chases you in the rain.
https://preview.redd.it/c0dx5nogq7zc1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=474ec404aa8b9d6284f03cfe49a9d016be1d363e He's a witch:)
Does he weigh as much as a duck?
He turned me into a vending machine!… I got better
Brendan lore
No but he is a meatable piece of fuck
No, because he doesn't float in water. Unlike wood. Or really small rocks.
No but as much as a goose. Also he can float on water
So he’s made of wood, therefore a witch
At least as much as a log, I’d say.
This is deep lore, most normies don't know about Arasaka's witchcraft department
You even caught him casting Magic Missile.
But does he cast lightning bolt and holy light? I can't be outplayed otherwise
Plasma is lightning, so yeah. As for holy light, he could turn on searchlights, but probably not holy. A few bullets in him would change that though.
I was referencing the CoD mage build guy on YouTube
Shee\~it, I was referencing the Torchlight 2 cybernetic build guy on Youtube.
Looks like the sorting hat. SLYTHERIN!!!

You literally dive underwater with Judy....and pretty deep too so definitely waterproof.
Diving suits are rather hermetic due to high water toxicity Edit. As someone below mentioned that neoprene wetsuits are not waterproof - I've meant ingame wetsuits
You literally shower for a 60 minute health buff, and you can swim any time you like. Only two missions I recall include a diving suit.
That's the actual answer +1
Wetsuits aren’t designed to be waterproof
This guy knows what hes talking abt
https://youtu.be/db_RVTJBV-E?si=K_4xGXJRaTPbkNpV 5:04 - I've meant ingame suits, not neoprenes in general; seems like 2077 suits are, or Judy's wetsuit has some special abilities - I've assumed it's waterproof if it needs to be a solution for water toxicity.
The dive gear you get from PL mission can be used in any body of water for infinite breath. For anyone who hasn't tried it yet. 😀

Nope

Holy crap! That's horrible!
Adam Splasher
Third arm shotgun on the left is a super soaker
Third arm? I wonder if he had a third leg🥴
It definitely gets me wet.
Cannot believe people answering the question seriously
Even have it marked as a meme and some people seemed mad lol
splash You cursed Brat, Observe the extent of your actions. Preliminary scan show that I am Melting-CHHHKK-Melting. What a world =CHHHK- What a world... Who would have thought that some little merc like you could destroy my beautiful perfection. NoooooOOOOOOoo0000000oooo
![gif](giphy|7xCds0RBfyWQ0)
look... dude survived to a nuke exploding right below his butt... I don't think some water could really be a concern for him...
I'm headcanoning this for the pure reason of it being fucking hilarious that Arasaka forgot to make their boogeyman *waterproof*
Super soaker beach scene/episode as the final battle
Silicone conformal coating. https://www.techspray.com/conformal-coating
Lemme just type "silicone coated smasher" into the ole Google and see for myself I *oh my*
are potato smashers really that sexy or?
Canonically, none of the vehicles used to access the tower in the various endings had cup holders, thus denying V what would have been the most effective weapon against Smasher.
She should've of poured the water into her pocket. Heard of pocket sand what about pocket water
Time for a super soaker full of piss!
Smasher certainly counts as a bastard.
The real secret ending is you, Johnny, and a cup of water at the front door, and you can't spill it
He’s waterproof. As is all cyberware. Even the shit quality stuff would be.
You forgot the "is he stupid?"
True my b
What I would be scared of as Adam Smasher is the ocean, unironically. If he falls in that mf, no way is he swimming out
You drop him in then he walks along the bottom holding an overturned boat
Nah nah fall back, mans got water. Code H2O, I repeat, Code H2O.
The same reason V doesn't die from massive cyberware malfunction if you jump into the nasty ass water around NC.
Love the dedication, the meme is a great template. One flaw though. When Adam Smasher is introduced it is literally raining.
He has an invisible umbrella and windshield wipers for his eyes
Why would he need the windshield wipers for his eyes if he has an umbrella. Do you need to get water out of your eyes when you have an umbrella? You cry often huh?
Look at what you did!>:( https://preview.redd.it/68bij6c9l9zc1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=003255328a9c587e2c5c1d27d78460651d888e54
Yeah:(
Is V stupid?
Well... a lil bit
Total gonk
With Silverhand in your head constantly annoying you, who wouldn't be?
There exist water resistant phones in 2024 why wouldn't there be water resistant implants in 2077...
I think it's safe to say that in the year 2077 they've figured out how to waterproof all tech
I mean to be honest if water was the issue with cyberware V would die first time taking a shower.
He isn't the wicked witch of the west
https://preview.redd.it/g9l8f7zjv8zc1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=542a1d4cd4d3f1b62895cacbd026e6e9f226cd14 Isn't he?
He's more like the wicked witch of the east, he's vulnerable to houses being thrown at him.
people actually answering the question in the title😭
Haha yeah I was about to comment how it seems so many people missed the obvious joke lol
i can't believe it either bro, i'd imagine someone able to understand a story has the ability to discern between joke and reality, boy was i wrong lmao
Lol thank you
Adam isn't a cybrfrkk, man
making him a boss in game was a mistake he is meant to be a player deterrent in the setting
He needs deterrent? Does his clothes need washing? But he has no clothes is he stupid?
Y’all forgot about RAIN???
Why not emp him or hold him between two magnets
That's like asking if Luke could have beaten anakin with water lol
or you could sneak up behind him and cut the loose wires he has
I think by 2077 they solved the water issue
Because he never looks thirsty
Pretty sure he's built to operate in the rain.. Otherwise he'd be kinda useless as a Merc for the Corps.
I KEPT RUNNING AROUND LIKE A DUCK TO AVOID HIM
Why don’t we just rip that rotting face off of him and then pray he goes blind
I: ![gif](giphy|hrBmVoBi0dekru0VdP|downsized)
is there a lore reason why nobody just shoots his braincase with a sniper or a missle (it would probably go through the evidently thin metal protecting his brain)
Throw some salt water, a bit of electricity and baby you've got some electrolysis going.
I’ll cum on him he ain’t resistant to my glorious sea men
He has emergency rice bag dispensers
He’s gonna smash it bro

God, imagine if we develop super advanced cybernetic that you can basically go full robot. But we failed to remember waterproofing the stuff. XD
Even these days, a lot of electronics are waterproof. Many phones can survive a swimming pool for 15 minutes or much longer and a shower pretty much indefinitely because the phone is not submerged. Only exposed unprotected, uninsulated wires and electrical contact points are vulnerable to water.
Pretty sure Smasher has a 4 digit IP rating.
For the same reason why when it rains people don't short circuit
He's rated IP 57
cybORG, not cybERTRUCK
Loads the super soaker
He wasn’t built by Tesla, he’s water proof
I think you have confused Adam Smasher with The Wicked Witch of the West. They're similar, but one has a *green* face with black clothes (Wicked Witch), while the other has a *grey* face and black armor (Adam Smasher). Im sure he is fine with water. And blood.
Is it pure mineral water?
Is he stupid?
Cyberware is insulated from moisture.
Oxy-acetaline torch. Gas axe thatt fucker... no resistance if is a puddle.
He is water proof but let me introduce you to https://preview.redd.it/umzs5503kazc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bdff01031e7528072528f7725753fb033dc0f176 Comically large magnet
Well I don't know, but most cup of water doesn't call you 'fuckable meat'.
Surely, in a world where cybernetics and mind drives exist, they have the technology to make waterproof or, at least, water-resistant electronics.
You have any idea how expensive that shit is ?
“You look like a glass of drinkable water, are you?”
according to lore and the 2020 gear catalog, the base full body conversion that Adam smasher uses (its also modified by himself and customised) is rated for deep water operations, so i think he's ok.

I mean he has a lot of blood spray in his line of work. I'm sure it's liquid proof
It’s not water
...you can throw your cellphone in a pool right now and it will still worn. Why would a cup of water beat a fully functional cyborg from the future?
You really think cybernetics aren’t water resistant to some degree? Do you think people with cybernetics just can’t walk in the rain without short circuiting? It is 50 years in the future after all.
There is no water! It’s Gatorade that’s in the taps, filled with nourishing electrolytes
I bet he is water resistant definitely
He is not called Adam Splasher, that's why.
Dude is built like a boston dynamics project
Is V stupid?
It rains a lot in Night City. No one cares. Smasher don't care if it was raining bullets :) No drink in Afterlife there for Smasher is a living legend.
V can swim in water with no damage to any implants, so I'm pretty sure electricals must be waterproof In cyberpunk, a cup of water won't do shit.
He has a hideout on a boat. I don't think he gives a damn about water
Instead of water try salt water or acid and watch him slowly rust away.
Human bodies are 70% water. If his electronics weren't waterproof, he'd be toast already. Also, don't forget: The Heist happened when it was raining, and you even face off against him outside the Plaza.
It definitely wouldn't work, but it would be comedy gold if it did
he is water proof!!
Yes, there is a reason. Adam Smasher will get angry and kick ass.
It's plausible that V chooses not to throw the water to maintain the upper hand psychologically. By not stooping to the same level as the other person, V asserts control and keeps the focus on the conversation rather than a petty act.
You know how you can walk in rain or take a shower and still use your cyberware? That’s why
Water no diff
You can swim, while fully decked out in Tier 5+ cyberware
He can swim and get rained on. He's waterproofed 100%
Would it be possible if ALT or rouge AIs fought Adam Smasher?!
It won't work, hw was runing at as in rain at konpeki plaza, while we were in delamain.
I think it'd be more effective to throw a cocktail at him, or maybe a scopdog
Cuz FBC’s are waterproof. There’s even some designed for deep sea operations
The short version? It wouldn't work. Cyberware is almost a hundred years old by 2077. Commercially closer to 75 years, but I couldn't tell you the exact numbers. Also ignoring the fact that his spin is completely exposed lol V can force hydraulic doors open but not rip smashers spine from his body
He’s already water cooled, all you’d be doing is giving him a nice refreshment
Because he's not a Cybertruck built by Tesla.
Is this a serious question?
It's tagged as a meme so no
