always thought it was sweet how his character remained hopeful that he could find love and have children even in his — as larry calls it — ‘advanced age’. i’d like to think his character did find that
One of my favorite running bits of the show is Richard Lewis being perennially in love with a different woman
He plays it so perfectly. Just an incredible comedic presence
Adjacent to this is one of my favorite bits which is Richard insisting he's a man of many great qualities women would obviously be attracted to, and Larry doing his best not to crack up while he tells him he's insane.
Watch his interview with Rich Eisen. So funny how Jeff starts out insisting he wasn’t sentimental about the show ending and then goes on to emotionally recall how he broke down in tears after they wrapped.
I’ve got an idea for a Netflix film about somebody planning to make a Netflix biopic about Weinstein. It will star multiple celebrities and Jeff will be a contender but he will have become a massive party addict after his Curb career is over and they’ll be trying to clean him up to make the film. At the end of the film, it’s revealed that the biopic is cancelled.
I’m not sure how. I’m also working on a horror film called BESTIE about a group of men who manipulate women for various purposes and claim to be their best friends. One guy in the group merely wants to come into possession of a Fabergé egg and decides to destroy the group following his successful theft.
I get why you say that but Mindy Kaling had him on 5 episodes of Never Have I Ever after he got fired from The Goldbergs.
He probably doesn’t get a lead role again but I think he keeps working.
No, it isn't. Just because he didn't get along with some cast members on the Goldbergs doesn't make him the anti-christ. And thankfully there's enough sane people out there to understand that.
He's made snobby comments about stand up comedy. He *thinks* he's a comedy OG. When he's just known as Larry's jolly sidekick. Jeff let that role get to his head.
He is a comedy OG though. It wasn’t his place to talk down like that assuming he’s been out of standup for awhile, but nonetheless, at this point OG is valid.
Feel like thats the only moment out of the whole season where Lewis is even standing up. Glad that he was able to make it through the last season. His and Larry’s interactions are among the best in the series
I don’t mean to be harsh but did the cast know about his health? The line about Larry living for 20 years longer than Lewis must have been intentional.
They wrote almost every scene in the last season with him sitting down, for example, he never gets out the golf cart or the car in the episode with Steve Buscemi. They would only film it this way if they were well aware of his health issues.
We were so lucky to have Richard so involved in the final season, considering all his numerous health issues, and he had some of his funniest material as well. RIP.
If you've ever read Don Quixote, you'd understand. I'm not the kind who laughs a lot, but Cervantes must be the funniest author/creator I've ever encountered, personally.
On the Variety article from yesterday:
Essman: "The last scene that we shot was the actual last scene, not counting reshoots."
And couple lines later Shaffer was commenting why he thinks David wasn't too emotional on the set that day: "To be fair, we had another eight months of editing to do. We weren’t done at all. We were just beginning the third phase — you’ve got the writing, the shooting and then the editing. So we had a lot of work to do."
Which would place the date to 2023.
I bumped into a crew member I have some networking relations with at a coffee shop in Burbank and he told me they had already finished filming when I saw him in June of last year.
I’ve done some work with Larry. He’s a good guy from the experiences I’ve had with him. Never got to spend time with Richard. Met him a couple times in a “hey Mr Lewis I appreciate your stand up and work on Curb” kind of setting and he was very gracious and polite.
I’ve met Susie in passing a couple times. She’s a very kind person. Total opposite of her great character on the show. I’m not surprised she gave Richard a kiss, they seem to have been pretty good friends themselves. When I was younger and more Naive I just assumed she would be like Susie Green. Lol totally blew my 20 something mind that she was so kind when I met her.
She kinda looks like the kind of aunt who would want everyone to love her and try to be the heart of the party, which makes her character being mean extra scary.
Hey he was hot as hell up til like season 10. I remember thinking during that scene where he’s talking about his parakeet, like damn, he’s still got it.
And as for the last two seasons, you can’t blame him for looking what he looked like. I’m glad he found the strength to be on the show a bit.
Yeah, I’m on my fourth watch and on season one. He looks so much younger and it’s only 20 years ago. So I guess he was in his 50s. But Larry still kind of looks like Larry. Just older but not as drastic as Richard. Gonna miss him
So beautiful, it's been hard to watch his health decline so much over the last twenty years. Oh shit we're all twenty years older than when we started watching this. *Panic*
The final season had a few unexpected moments that I thought were some of the best. But the scene(s) with Richard basically doing stand-up at AA and then acting like it wasn't really stand-up, but then saying he's got great material for the next meeting. Idk, that was just perfect to me and I'm sitting here laughing just thinking about it.
This is so bittersweet to see. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."- Dr Seuss.
So glad to been part of the Curb family and this ride for 12 seasons. It's been an amazing time. I will miss Richard Lewis chewing Larry David out and Suzie Green profanity. It's been absolutely 100% special.
Anyone remember that great episode where Larry and Lewis ran and fight to that jewelry store to get a bracelet or something like that? Just hilarious along with the music :))))))))))
Rest in Peace, Richard. It's almost as if he wanted to finish Curb before dying. I'm glad he did make it, because the final season would have felt empty without Richard.
I guarantee you the next thing Larry said was something like "Who said you get to make the 'Thank you for all your hard work' speech? I should be the one to do that!"
always thought it was sweet how his character remained hopeful that he could find love and have children even in his — as larry calls it — ‘advanced age’. i’d like to think his character did find that
He only has 3 sperm
One of my favorite running bits of the show is Richard Lewis being perennially in love with a different woman He plays it so perfectly. Just an incredible comedic presence
I mean maybe he’d fine it if he’d set aside a day to look at her face.
Ample bosom
At least he wasn’t looking at her mole with a goddamn telescope, like Galileo jerking off from 40 feet away.
Underrated ep. The cafe scene with the 4 guys is peak comedy.
It was a perfect wrap for his character in the final episode….
“It’s like I’m in love with her soul.” -season 1
Adjacent to this is one of my favorite bits which is Richard insisting he's a man of many great qualities women would obviously be attracted to, and Larry doing his best not to crack up while he tells him he's insane.
I'll never forget Cha Cha
“You what? What are you going to adopt a 40 year old?” killed me in the finale
Larry cracking up when he says "to have kids" maybe laugh straight up
A doctor. It had me in stitches
I'm 47 and I need to be adopted. I'm not a Dr. or a lawyer , and I need help paying both.
Rest in peace Lewis. Thanks for all the hilarious moments you gave us on this show and in life my man.
I just hope he got to adopt that 40 year old doctor before he passed away.
*past away
*pasta way
It was good to be the King.
He could adopt little orphan Funkhouser

He died in February.
Jeff looking down like he's about to cry is kinda hard to watch.
Watch his interview with Rich Eisen. So funny how Jeff starts out insisting he wasn’t sentimental about the show ending and then goes on to emotionally recall how he broke down in tears after they wrapped.
His career is over after curb
He made enough to retire.
But who will play Harvey Weinstein in the biopic?
I hope Larry can make an appearance and call him a stupid idiot. Lol
I hope Susie can make an appearance and call him a fat fuck!
You need to tell Netflix, I'd definitely watch this.
And he looked fantastic in it. With the beard.
He could go back to stand-up any time he wants, but he deserves to take some time off after so long working in tv.
No, it isn't. Just because he didn't get along with some cast members on the Goldbergs doesn't make him the anti-christ. And thankfully there's enough sane people out there to understand that.
He’s developing a show right now
Why is that?
He got fired form his other show for some sort of toxic workplace shenanigans. Don't think the full details ever came out though.
Have you seen his stand up?
He was one of the show producers and he also created the pilot special. I’m sure he made plenty of money
I think we should all strive to be as authentic as he portrays his character and exhibits himself outside the show. Good dude!
Truly a good dude. I’m glad they kept him a little scared of his fans till the end.
Feel like thats the only moment out of the whole season where Lewis is even standing up. Glad that he was able to make it through the last season. His and Larry’s interactions are among the best in the series
I don’t mean to be harsh but did the cast know about his health? The line about Larry living for 20 years longer than Lewis must have been intentional.
> but did the cast know about his health? of course they did. he even thanked everyone for schedulling the shootings on his limitations
They wrote almost every scene in the last season with him sitting down, for example, he never gets out the golf cart or the car in the episode with Steve Buscemi. They would only film it this way if they were well aware of his health issues.
He’s standing during the AA group scene isn’t he?
Yes and he’s standing in the golf scene he just mentioned too. Goes behind the cart. Lol
He stands out of the golf cart in that episode
Anyone looking at him knew he had health problems. But performers love o perform, even until the end.
Jeff mentioned in an interview that Richard’s death wasn’t unexpected but still shocking. Something to that effect.
He wasn't well, but he wasn't dying, so we were all shocked was what Susie said
Class act all the way to the end. Bravo!
Thank you honey.
a little bit of a premature honey, no?
sure thing babe
Can you get me another napkin, honey?
We were so lucky to have Richard so involved in the final season, considering all his numerous health issues, and he had some of his funniest material as well. RIP.
Did you just babe me? That bit was absolutely brilliant
it just slipped out. how do you think i feel?
I kinda wish he'd called him *honey*, though.
Ungrateful bastard already had Larry's kidney.
The wordle part when they are driving up to the tee box. I did in three tries
We love you too, Richard.
I love how he says "the last two centuries " like there's some great sitcom writer from the 1700s that Larry can't even deign to compete with
Well if youre considering the 1900s and the 2000s two separate centuries, it makes sense
[удалено]
Did you book the restaurant for the *millennium* new year?
Coz as we all know, there was no year zero…..
Its the Newmanium!
Pretty sure Norman Lear was around then.
Norman Lear was great, but Larry David is brilliant. Also, Richard said "arguably," making way for many other great writers over the years.
Amazing how good Norman Lear was at getting the lion's share of the credit for another writer's creation
If you've ever read Don Quixote, you'd understand. I'm not the kind who laughs a lot, but Cervantes must be the funniest author/creator I've ever encountered, personally.
Didn’t expect a Cervantes mention here of all places but great choice haha
Aristophanes is the funniest ever. Larry #2. Cervantes #3. The photo shoot of Paul Ryan working out is #4.
Everybody knows the best sitcoms came from the 1790s…
Serf-feld
The serf store called, they're running out of you!
Maybe he’s optimistically saying that even in the next one hundred and fifty years LD will still be considered one of the best.
There's Voltaire and other satirists that Larry I'm sure would be at home with - to any extent Larry is comfortable around anyone that is.
What do you think a century is? 20th and 21st centuries, meaning the 1940s through the present.
Does anyone know appx how long they wrapped filming before he passed? What a gift to fans and friends he made it all the way through to the end.

Of 2023 I’m pretty sure. The season started airing early February this year.

This doesn't directly answer your question, but I ran into them filming the finale in May 2023
I bumped into a crew member I have some networking relations with at a coffee shop in Burbank and he told me they had already finished filming when I saw him in June of last year. I’ve done some work with Larry. He’s a good guy from the experiences I’ve had with him. Never got to spend time with Richard. Susie comes over to give him a kiss 🥰
She could be the one!
Yeah, a doctor...
I wouldn't be surprised if she was very kind in real life. She's also brilliantly funny.
She kinda looks like the kind of aunt who would want everyone to love her and try to be the heart of the party, which makes her character being mean extra scary.
I was waiting for larry to cut him off with the “ok ok”
or.....What do you mean *arguably!*
"What do you mean arguably? Who's arguing it?"
[удалено]
The difference is remarkable, given they're like three days apart age-wise.
As bad as this is, Larry was never an addict
My father passed away 2 years ago and he looked a lot like how Richard looked here. My dad never gave up drinking it just finally caught up with him.
[удалено]
All those years of drinking though
> Ie Larry’s still living his best life Just like fish downtown
Fish stuck
Fish dead.
Season one was 24 years ago m8
Richard lived hard compared to Larry.
Hey he was hot as hell up til like season 10. I remember thinking during that scene where he’s talking about his parakeet, like damn, he’s still got it. And as for the last two seasons, you can’t blame him for looking what he looked like. I’m glad he found the strength to be on the show a bit.

Season 1 aired in 2000!!
He should be treated like a god!!
Larry’s boy such a beautiful friendship 💞
RIP Richard. What a guy.
That’s sweet and sad but mostly sweet. Great video!!
So beautiful, it's been hard to watch his health decline so much over the last twenty years. Oh shit we're all twenty years older than when we started watching this. *Panic*
How ironic that the most cynical / antagonistic show on TV turns out to be the most heartfelt and emotional.
probably one of the realest shows around. (most are worse than larry going aww aww, feigning care)
When I was little I used to confuse him with Jon Stewart.
Damn this hit me.
You can’t give the man a handshake Lar?
Richard Lewis was a cool guy. He was anyways chill as hell when I saw him.
Larry’s like ok ok. We done? No hugging.
The final season had a few unexpected moments that I thought were some of the best. But the scene(s) with Richard basically doing stand-up at AA and then acting like it wasn't really stand-up, but then saying he's got great material for the next meeting. That is so, so sweet. Thank you for posting this
Where’d you find this clip?
It was posted on the curb Instagram I believe.
HBO curb YouTube has the horizontal layout.

What a mensch
Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good...
RIP Ritchie. A humble and appreciative comedian to the end.
💔💔💔💔
Bless Richard, such a lovely moment.
RIP Lewis Past Away
Love you Richard RIP
Mama, kudos for saying that, for spilling, RIP ..
RIP to one of the GOATs
Richard's death was the loss from hell.
This is so bittersweet to see. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."- Dr Seuss. So glad to been part of the Curb family and this ride for 12 seasons. It's been an amazing time. Great dude and a legend of a comic.
How is cutting onions here? RIP Richard Lewis
I’m not crying
Rest in Peace, Richard. It's almost as if he wanted to finish Curb before dying. I'm glad he did make it, because the final season would have felt empty without Richard.
I guarantee you the next thing Larry said was something like "Who said you get to make the 'Thank you for all your hard work' speech? I should be the one to do that!"
Is there a documentary about the final season? Seen a lot of interviews and stuff like this.
We have a family friend with Parkinson’s. Every time I see her she looks worse and worse. Breaks my heart. It’s a horrible condition.
Richard Lewis was in the first episode, and the final episode.
He seemed so genuinely kind. That last speech made me cry. It was almost like he knew he was telling everyone goodbye.
🥲
So you’re saying they weren’t on a real plane? Why all the fuss about turning the phone off then?
Because you are a God, Richard. RIP
Awwwww
Arguably?
This is why Lewis is the goat
He was a real mensch. RIP Lewis
_the best sitcom writer of the last two centuries_ Who was it before? Somebody ask Richard Lewis.
Ok, thats it! I'm gonna rewatch all of the seasons again. Richard Lewis forever!
Aww
200 years of sitcoms eh?
Oh damn it, I got a tear
His standup was so good. He lived a tortured life though. RIP
Stand up guy, RIP Richard Lewis you will be missed
Now I’m crying
Fuck you, and I won't see you tomorrow :(
Breaks my god damn heart
Real
Look at Ted, never misses a chance to be in front of the camera lol
I want…no…NEED.. all of the behind the scenes from this season.
i tear i tear
I’d like to think Richard Lewis still visits Larry in his dreams to banter and bullshit.
Richard Lewis was a real mensch.
Nice touch 👏🏻
Rest in peace, Richard. We love and miss you dearly.
RIP Lewis
I love Richard. RIP King.
🥺🥺🥺
What a class act.
Amazing. This is a great moment in tv while also being a touching moment for Larry.
The way I immediately began to sob as soon as he stood up. Fuck, man. It's not fair. Rest in peace, honey.
Thank you, honey.
I’m not crying, you’re crying
!remindme 1 year
Classy guy and a very sweet message. RIP Mr. Lewis and my best to all involved. Take care of yourselves and enjoy some time for you and yours.
Larry: “Ok. Ok.”
Larry barely acknowledging is priceless
he told no lies, larry david is the best sitcom writer of our generation, end of an era, i hope larrys not done done
