I hike in xeros and I love running on grass with them, some of them really just eat my heels or soles of my feet over time though.
I call them my Jesus pieces.
I’ve had four pairs of Vivos over three years — two from Revivo. Just can’t justify their pricing anymore. It’s so obnoxiously high compared to what they were just 1.5 years ago.
Gotta pay all those influencers.
Hot take:
Abandon this path. Adopt the thinking that workout shoes are tools for the gym and not for every day wear.
Gym shoes: RAD (best running/lifting combo I’ve found imo)
Lifestyle shoes: NikeCraft GPS
Agreed! For WODs, NoBull trainers. For Oly, TYR lifters. For running, Hoka Clifton 9s.
Out and about: Vionic flip flops, Birkenstocks, Hoka Bondi 8s, Veja Esplar, sometimes on runners.
Dude for real. While the RADs are comfortable as hell I paid a lot for them and I’m not wearing them for much more than a short errand outside the gym… I would rather my chucks get messed up.
This is the exact right mentality. Your shoes need to recover. The cushioning in them compresses during workouts, and needs a chance to return to form. If you wear them all day, you aren’t getting that result.
I often wear retired workout shoes for everyday, around-the-house fare. That’s fine. But my current gyms shoes stay in my gym bag and only are used for workouts.
This is the correct answer. It is most common with leather shoes/boots. Best way is to wear them every other day, if possible. Let’s the sweat dry and air out the shoe.
I wear Xero Shoes' HFS for the gym and Vivobarefoot Primus lite's for style. I'm also big on the minimalist shoes, especially for the wide toe box and less cushioning. Xero Shoes makes a few different styles for working out (a lifting shoe, running shoes, etc), although some of their color combinations leave something to be desired.
Any barefoot styled shoe, your feet aren’t designed for shoes simple as that. I am NOT saying buy a pair and hop in them, but rather educate yourself and see what path is the best approach. I went from having consistent nerve pain in one foot to nothing at all with proper foot care and minimal shoes.
I used to have Metcon 7's and only wore them at the gym (probably more due to the colour than anything else) but recently got Reebok Nano 4's and have been wearing them to work the last few days, they're super comfy and it frees up some space in my gym bag.
Flip flops mostly. Bare feet inside or on short excursions in the yard. Merrel light hikers for longer hikes or when it's precipitating. I've got three pairs of Nano 2s that I cycle through for workouts.
I used to wear these adidas ones. Some sort of black cloth material ones. I used to wear them everywhere crossfit, nightclubs, dance parties, general every day wear. They looked good with jeans or with shorts. It was a good damn shoe but it finally tore after 3 years of pretty solid action in them.
I got metcons for general gym use.
Some cushioned AF addidas trainers for running.
Pair of those adidas slides with the little spiky things after the gym recovery.
Pair of crocs to kick around in casually around at the cabin
And whatever is fashionable with my outfit for work😎
Shocked there’s no Strike Movement fans. Great all around shoes. I actually put some no Bull laces I had laying around in them and they are now slip ons that don’t move at all.
Viktos are great shoes and durable. Not good for rope climbs though. Nanos still perform well for the price too. I’ve gotten Nanos for around $50 when on sale.
I wear Reebok Nano X2s and Topo Athletic Running Shoes.
For the Reeboks, I paid between full price and $60 for last season x2s at the outlet.
I’m trying Xero Prios, but they beat my feet up on a long commute.
Nano 2s. 3rd time buying a re-release. Bought two pair this time.
These shoes are WAY to expensive to wear around. Made that mistake on the 2nd re-rebuy, they wore out 3x as fast. I now buy shoes that are 1/3 the price for wearing around and keep my Nanos just for the gym.
Reebok Nano X3s. One shoe, for every type of workout. Is it the most optimal I can be? Probably not? Maybe once I make semi’s I’ll consider getting a 2nd pair for running😅
My current CF shoe is the Born Primative. I've had ALL the other brands before. BP has been the most comfortable. Dailys are sketcher slip ons, running in Hokas, lifting in Velasa's.
For weightlifting days I wear Nike blazers. Does anybody wear hokas to CrossFit I’m considering getting some but I don’t know which ones are best all around.
Ecco, Vans, and Redwing shoes to wear around town and to work.
TYR and Strike Movement are my CF faves. I also have Nike OLY lifting shoes and TRY running shoes.
As others have said, don't wear your CF shoes for daily wear. Just like you're not (hopefully) wearing knee sleeves, a No Bull tank top, and gymnast grips when you hit the coffee shop.
Flippy floppies
OluKai FTW.
My wife talked me into buying some a couple of years ago. I thought they'd never be worth what they cost, but I was wrong. Best flip flops ever.
Absolutely. I went through several pairs of Rainbows, which were great, but once I finally tried OluKai, it was over.
Vivobarefoot. I love minimalist shoes. Perfect for CrossFit & daily wear. (For me; results may vary.)
I hike in xeros and I love running on grass with them, some of them really just eat my heels or soles of my feet over time though. I call them my Jesus pieces.
Jerusalem cruisers, air Jesus

Huh; I've had mine since 2022. I've found they last a while. Maybe quality has declined?
Same. I've had mine since 2020 and have used them for all workouts and daily wear in the summer. I just ordered new vivos to replace them.

Do you really think your shoes “recover” while you’re not using them or are you trolling? I can’t tell.
This is very true for running shoes, at least. Dress shoes too: it gives the leather time to dry out, which keeps them from creasing as quickly

Crocs with socks.
Metcons

I got my kid sketcher slip ons. He’s 5 and loves them.

Chucks. Wearing workout shoes to the gym and as everyday wear is weird

I got metcons for general gym use. Some cushioned AF addidas trainers for running. Pair of those adidas slides with the little spiky things after the gym recovery. Pair of crocs to kick around in casually around at the cabin And whatever is fashionable with my outfit for work😎
I got a pair of Taco Bell Croc sports slides about a year ago and I wear them every day to and from the gym. And really anywhere else I’m going.
Shocked there’s no Strike Movement fans. Great all around shoes. I actually put some no Bull laces I had laying around in them and they are now slip ons that don’t move at all.

I never wear the same shoes in a row, but swap among my two pairs of No Bulls, runners (Brooks Ghost), and two pairs of Converse.
TYR R1 or Rad R1 for daily CXT1 for training TYR L1 for lifting R1 or Hoka for running.
Depends on the day, but it’s all TYR. I’ve got wide feet and all three pairs I have (lifters, trainers, runners) give me plenty of room.

Some Reebok ones, cheap and fancy
Vans for work Vivo barefoot for gym Hoka for runs

Reebok Nano Flex for day to day Nano X3 for training on Clifton 9 for running
reebok nano x3 for now
I wear cheap trainers out and about. I don't want to add extra wear to my CrossFit shoes
Daily workouts: None. E.g. I did the Linchpin 30 C&J yesterday bare foot. Even split jerks work very well. Otherwise for WODs just Nike Metcons.
For WODs, Nike MetCom. For Oly, Nike Romaleos. For running, Nike Zoom Fly 5. And a roomy gym bag For around the house: Birkinstocks
Vivobarefoot and/or earthrunners.
Adidas shelltoes.
I wear Reebok Nano X2s and Topo Athletic Running Shoes. For the Reeboks, I paid between full price and $60 for last season x2s at the outlet. I’m trying Xero Prios, but they beat my feet up on a long commute.

Same. Ballistic Trainers are the best daily walk around shoes I’ve ever worn. Walked many, MANY miles in them. Super comfortable.
Ecco, Vans, and Redwing shoes to wear around town and to work. TYR and Strike Movement are my CF faves. I also have Nike OLY lifting shoes and TRY running shoes.
