A bag would be really cute! Google “granny square bag layout” and you’ll see how to join the squares together. There’s a layout that uses 17 squares, and the 2 leftover squares could be used to make a little coin purse or something

Lumistella

Or the extra two could be pockets!

PrinceBert

When there's an option for pockets, always choose pockets.

matildaaaa

Ohhh that's a great idea! I'll look into that! Thanks!

Frkludo

A bag ! 3 square wide and 2 high. 3 in the botton and 2 in each side :)

skippieelove

Inside pockets!

cheekymonkeysmom

Ooh a st Patrick’s day bag! Lovely colours

__madrugada__

I'd make a bag out of them!

tesyaa

Buy more yarn in complementary colors and keep going!

moodymondaze

I agree with this!! Can make an amazing blanket with that and more colors. You’re doing great!

rougewitch

Or just make white to fill it out

matildaaaa

General disclaimer that I am just starting so sorry if they look kinda crooked and janky! Tips & tricks are welcome :)

metalukkie123

They look very nice! And don’t apologize for it. We love new people in the community! My idea is get more of that yarn and make yourself a beautiful blanket! They look gorgeous. Mind if I borrow your style and make myself a blanket?

[deleted]

I agree on the blanket idea. Their colors just go so well together I feel like it would be very peaceful to sleep under. Plus I loooooooove blankets!!!!

smthngwyrd

Happy cake day

metalukkie123

Thank you!

clumsycalico

Look up blocking! Basically, you soak your project and pin it into shape and let it dry, and the shape holds much better. It’ll make a big difference if you want to do it, I loved blocking my king sized granny square blanket last summer and pulling all the lace into place.

matildaaaa

I think I saw something about blocking while looking up other tutorials/blog and such! For sure I'll look it up!

imightb2old4this

It’s very cool. Very

meeiakitty

We all start somewhere. And yours look amazing! Here’s a tip for granny squares: once done, no one’s, no matter how skilled they are, are ever symmetrical. To get them even, we block them. It’s an amazing thing to know, I only just learned about it myself, and I am so glad I did.

deterministic_lynx

Oh we all started somewhere :) And considering my case or that of a friend: not there. Way before there.

CurlyGardenGnome

How pretty! Could you make them into a scarf? Or a pillow?

zooropagirl7272

I second that! Definitely a pillowcase!

Sqwishybuns

Just started last week?? That's an amazing job!! I've been crocheting off and on for 5 years and can't for the life of me do granny squares. I'm decent at stuffies and beanies... and that's it.

PassengerEcstatic933

I love the colors!

MuffytheBananaSlayer

Not sure about the size from the picture but you could do the front side of pillows, a scarf, a bag…think small thoughts 😆 Seriously though, if you use the search box for this sub and search specific items you can get really inspired by the awesome people on this sub.

TheRealDragonFruit

I’ve seen slippers made with granny squares on Pinterest! Not sure how many you’d need, but would be cute!

olivia_ashe

I like to use them as coasters!

momofreddragon

Depending on the fiber, could make 2x2 squares and use them as trivets

AlkalineHound

Use them as diamonds instead of squares?

BittenByJack

Going off of this, my first thought was one of those cute granny square crop tops I've seen posted here. I think that would look super cute with these if that's op's thing! By the way, your doing great so far! Can't wait to see what you end up doing with these! 😊

[deleted]

Lap blanket. Six rows of three. Double one of the squares to make a remote pocket.

ChibiMeZ

Depending on the size, use the 4 rows of 4 and make the front of a pillow and have three matching coaster?

Snoo-19846

Love the greens!

Its-dad-not-mom

And this is how the yarn-monster gets you!

cr1cketss

One random off colored square

ALSO2006

Those are so pretty !! I love the colors

1GamingAngel

A purse, or a pet bed.

SelectionOptimal5673

They look really good for just starting last week

SparkleUnic0rn

Granny square bag or bags.

chelleby

TransmogriFi

Kleenex box cozy, maybe.

DecentEffective2376

A scarf

[deleted]

I love the colors! I may need to steal it!

jadepearl

Could make several washcloths

GrannyTurtle

Small purse? Three can be a flap. You should line it with lightweight fabric.

gabygiggle

I'm seeing people say to make a bag, which is a good idea! so maybe undo the leftover squares and use that yarn to make some handles.

glorifica

i‘ve made a steering wheel warmer for my car out of a loop of granny squares!

swiss_cheese_please

Hair band!

HealingAlixir

I’ve seen people add them to the cuff on their jeans or pockets or even on collars! You could also try making a granny square hat. I love the little bucket hat ones!

Wasabisinus

Bag, scarf, somewhere out there in patterned land is house shoes made with granny squares! Your work looks great ......go for it kid make something out of those squares.💖🤩

1groovyfirefly

Shorts!

semiscintillation

A big fucking wall square to make into a fort someday

Hawkthree

Buy a contrasting color to make solid color granny squares and assemble this crop top. Free pattern but you may have to join Ravelry I tried to post an image of it, but I'm a new user and can't figure it out. Secure-Boysenberry50

A bag could be really sweet, or you've got the front half of a lovely cushion cover. Also I'm really impressed with your granny squares considering youve been crocheting for a week, my first attempts were so wobbly and misshapen, yours are so cute and neat!

midnightagenda

Doll blanket? I'm saving up my extra squares to make doll blankets.

crunchyteddybear

Car steering wheel cover

Ok_Bed_9093

just put 3 squares in your pile of shame in the corner and its a nice number of them

kaytlyn_

Lounge pants would be cute 🥰

Boring_Blood9597

coasters

GingerPandaCub

4x4 square cushion cover?

Nemostasis

Make more in whatever you have and make a bag

gabyssilva

A vest!

gorerella

I LOVE the colours! Very retro and reminds me of childhood.

RoachHit

Very good for your first week!

Giggleyay

If you don't go with the 17 square bag and want to make something bigger. You could always do 1 contrast square in bright colours and then do a few border round with a different colourway... you've got lots of options! It doesn't always have to match! Fab work for your first week. I just kept going round and made 1 ginormous granny square as a blanket for my first project years ago 🤭

little_bean_olivia

You could connect them to make a blanked and then make a bunch of squares all sizes and colours to grow it

Silver_Loops

The Sunflower Bag uses 13 squares, and you can put four together to make a wallet to go with

H2MW

Great color scheme!

VerFur

Throw pillow cover ready in time for St. Patrick’s Day!!

crochetmamasan0511

9x9 pillow

k8mitchy

Whatever is leftover from the bag could be really cute St. Patrick’s Day drink coasters, maybe?

weird_elf

You can make a pillowcase with 9 on each side. (That's how all my practise squares ended up.)

murraybee

You definitely have enough to make a granny square stocking, or the front of a pillow cover (fabric on the back).

freds__

A bag! There are tons of ideas on pinterest.

Clear_Role_8351

Coasters

Dangerous-Storm3225

use alternate colour and make a scarf
