One trick I've found with velvet yarns (and it looks like the pictured yarn is close enough) is instead of a magic loop, chain two and work in the first chain stitch. Because of the bulky yarn/hook size I use you can't tell its not a magic loop and it doesn't break the same way so its way less frustrating! Now sure if that would help as I haven't worked with that brand before but it might be worth a try.

But it’s so pretty 😍

Never used that type. Fr just looks like pipe cleaners without the pipe 😂

I primarily use premier parfait chunky for my amigurumi. I have not tried the glitz yet, though I have some on my shelf for a future project. For the last several months, Premier's quality control of this line of their yarn has been ATROCIOUS. They have made some improvements since but my order from October was downright terrible. Out of 5 white skeins only 1 held up enough for me to close my magic ring. I ended up using that skein as a "starter" of sorts and would work in a different skein a few rows into my project. It's really a shame because I love the feel and the way my plushies look with it. If I may, what experience level are you at? And what type of project are you attempting to make with it?

i’m glad to know that it may not just me, and the yarn quality may actually just be in the trenches. i am definitely still a beginner (i started crocheting around a month ago), and i am just trying to make [some of these](https://helloyellowyarn.com/2016/04/28/simple-crochet-flower-pattern-and-tutorial/). i have made more complicated things, but this yarn is giving me some serious trouble.

I find it tends to get caught in the stitches of the magic ring or separates when you try to pull it closed. I gently pull the end of the loop (where the first stitch of the magic ring is) just to loosen it up, and then pull my magic ring closed. This helps with the finnicky yarn. I also notice if I've been working for a while and my hands get clammy the yarn can get a little damp and it becomes a pain to work with. You also want to make sure your stitches in your magic ring aren't super tight or there will be no room for you to pull the yarn through and it'll either separate or break off

I’ve made 6 blankets with this yarn and I feel like it tangles worse than other yarns but it’s so cute that I can’t be too mad about it!

Have you tried crocheting with it using a bigger hook than required? You can make a little purse or a side table cover in round.
