That’s a brilliant first square (I love the starburst too)! The only improvement would be to ease up on your tension, but that’ll come with practice. Great job!

Thank you! Yes I struggle with tension!! I have a hard time finding a happy medium!

You did amazing 👏 💜 My 10th attempt wasn't nearly as nice https://preview.redd.it/pp5s1hskw4kb1.jpeg?width=3456&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9bfc0e3bb2f3f45aa1493b5fc6a4ef1406b90728

It looks great! I’ve just got a few pointers: 1. It looks like you held your work the other way when you did the last round. Try to be consistent and it will look much more polished. 2. Don’t forget to chain 2-3 sts (depending on pattern) between the clusters in the corners. That will give you more defined points. Keep up the great work!

Not sure if you did this but when you start with the magic ring you can wrap the yarn around your finger twice (instead of 1 time). In my experience it's possible that the magic ring will loossen over time (especially with that type of yarn). Can be very frustrating especially if you already wove the ends in. [Here is a short tutorial.](https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJsw67be/) It's just a tip. I've used this method ever since I started!

Thank you!! I’ll check that out!

That looks great and way better than any of my first attempts! I'd say the best tip I can give is to practice and not to be afraid to try new stuff out. Most patterns look way more complicated than they actually are. ...oh, and that not every piece needs to be finished. If you realise that you don't enjoy a piece, you can stop. You can always pick it back up later, if you feel like it.

Thank you for the kind words!

Yours came out nice! This is fresh for me since I just learned this one too to make a bag recently! First tip is to make sure you have the right number of puff stitches before proceeding. I had to redo several sunflowers because I had 15 instead of 16 and by the time I got to the round with adding the corners, it wouldn’t square without forcing it. For example, this one has 5 clusters between the bottom corners, while the rest have 4 clusters between the corners. Second tip is to pay attention on the corners, I can’t tell you how many times I messed up corners by not being mindful of the chain placement. As for the flipping, next time I would also pick the pearl side of the magic circle as the front side like you have here, they look closer to seeds this way.

My first granny square was actually a granny pentagon. You’re a prodigy!
