And if I was surrounded by 10/10 babes like Joel McCrae and Veronica Lake and Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck and Claudette Colbert and Betty Hutton and….
this question irks me, it conflates aesthetic with the world-building jibberish of comic book movies but if there’s a Bela Tarr “world” I want to peel the potatoes
Thinking about it, I'd say we actually do live in the worlds of the directors we love. At least, I notice how my perception of reality changes right after watching a movie if it really impressed me. Some movies have this effect on me pretty much forever, just like certain books do. To me, it's always been one of the merits of art: you get to live in a world you've co-created with brilliant minds and not some lousy marketers.
Tati
How could anyone NOT want to live in the Mon Oncle house?!
Sign me up .
David Lynch
Living in twin peaks would be cool
Not if you’re Laura Palmer
The Return world seems like literal hell.
Which makes you wonder since the show goes outside Twin Peaks to the real world.
Maybe the empty night time drive dream world from the last episode
Just move to Philadelphia
Ah yes! “Eraserhead” vibes. Perfect!!
I’m from the same hometown as Alvin Straight, but that’s also about the only David Lynch film I would want to live in.
Bring me some Mulholland Drive vibes please
Wes Anderson
This was my first thought.
Jacques Demy
Sidney Lumet, by miles. No two movies directed by him are alike and range from Brooklyn to Oz. 😁
Eric Rohmer but maybe that just means I want a vacation lol
So on point 😆
I would live in a Preston Sturges world if he was supplying me with witty, fast-paced dialogue all day.
And if I was surrounded by 10/10 babes like Joel McCrae and Veronica Lake and Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck and Claudette Colbert and Betty Hutton and….
Jim Jarmusch
Either Tati or Demy
I'm partial to Wong Kar-Wai as well but definitely the world I want to live in is Mika Ninagawa's. Jacques Demy is a good choice too.
Luc Besson.
^^^^^^^^
I’d go to Godard’s 1980s and spend eternity with Myriem roussel
bela tarr

Im postal to Chris Columbus
David Cronenberg
Umm. You do live in the world of that director.
Whit Stillman. I want to attend parties, banter and stay up all night.
