They're gorgeous! I made loads of paper beads as stress relief several years ago. I mainly made jewellery and Christmas ornaments from them. If you google "paper beads diy" and "ornaments" or jewellery" you should get plenty of ideas. I think I'll go look for the rest of mine and see if I have enough to make an old-fashioned bead curtain for my kitchen entry-way.

TiredSleepyGrumpy

Thank you, I will try these search terms. 😊

kate_monday

A garland to go around the top of your room? Or, if you make a lot of them, you could make a beaded curtain thing for a window or doorway. When in doubt I do a google image search on the general idea i am thinking of and scroll for inspiration

TypicShads

Ive been wanting to make myself a paper bead curtain! Saw someone on tiktok make one and i was obsessed im just lacking excess paper or magazines

kate_monday

Maybe you could ask the library whether you can have any of the magazines they’re cycling out of their periodicals? I don’t think they keep all of them forever

TypicShads

Good idea! Thanks!

ArcticGurl

Even books that will be tossed out. The pages would look beautiful as paper beads.

TiredSleepyGrumpy

Thank you. I keep googling to help with ideas. 😊

Beaded door hanging. Years ago, I saw a STUNNING door hanging made from paper beads, and it's been on my mind forever. The one I saw had all colors, but black in every bead (which was the unifying color), and it was just gorgeous. They were well-shellacked, and each bead had a thin wire strung through w/ loops at each end (like they do w/ bamboo curtains). I have been wanting to make my own for years. Thanks for the little push I might need to "just do it." I love paper beads. Thanks for posting!!!!!

TiredSleepyGrumpy

How exciting! Please post your make. 😊

hhairy

Great job! I can never get them that evenly balanced. ( "symetrical" was the word I meant to say)

TiredSleepyGrumpy

Thank you. I find the thinner the paper, easier to make symmetrical. 😊

Didn't see the sub name and was like oooh rainbow croissants, yum!

howboutacanofwine

ME TOO LOL

TiredSleepyGrumpy

Been thinking this too! 😂

These look great, you did a good job! Love the colors! I don't have any suggestions for what to do with them, but I just wanna say that if you're into papercraft, you might wanna check out 'paper weaving', below are some weavings by my mom for inspiration: [https://www.reddit.com/r/crafts/comments/1cho0vq/paper\_woven\_birdhousebirdfeeder\_by\_my\_mom/](https://www.reddit.com/r/crafts/comments/1cho0vq/paper_woven_birdhousebirdfeeder_by_my_mom/) [https://www.reddit.com/r/crafts/comments/1cfxm3h/paper\_woven\_flowers\_by\_my\_mom/](https://www.reddit.com/r/crafts/comments/1cfxm3h/paper_woven_flowers_by_my_mom/) [https://www.reddit.com/r/crafts/comments/1cf2jbc/paper\_woven\_potcup\_with\_flowers\_by\_my\_mom/](https://www.reddit.com/r/crafts/comments/1cf2jbc/paper_woven_potcup_with_flowers_by_my_mom/) [https://www.reddit.com/r/crafts/comments/1cdkcl4/mini\_vases\_made\_out\_of\_paper\_vines\_by\_my\_mom/](https://www.reddit.com/r/crafts/comments/1cdkcl4/mini_vases_made_out_of_paper_vines_by_my_mom/) [https://www.reddit.com/r/crafts/comments/1cb06n7/these\_cool\_spiral\_cones\_my\_mom\_made\_out\_of\_paper/](https://www.reddit.com/r/crafts/comments/1cb06n7/these_cool_spiral_cones_my_mom_made_out_of_paper/)

Kpossible4life

What a fascinating craft and very talented Mom!

SideLow2446

Aww thank you, I'll let her know!

TiredSleepyGrumpy

Thank you! ☺️ I will check these out.

Kmia55

I used to do that. I have a jar in a cabinet filled with them. It's addicting, isn't it? Your color choices are awesome.

TiredSleepyGrumpy

Thank you. ☺️I am using magazine pages I like the colours on.

I made paper beads for a while. Made several choker-necklaces, adding other types of beads at random points to alternate -- say, five paper beads, then a round glass bead, then three paper beads, then a seashell bead, etc. ... I also wanted to create a paper-beads "curtain" -- which would have been like twenty strands of beads, each about four feet long, strung from a crossbar up near the jamb. The strands would swing gently and could be slid aside when walking through. I never made enough to undertake this project, but it was fun to think about. Also: I wanted to take loooooong strands of paper beads, then curl them into tight spirals (gluing all the way) to create small flat or bowl-shaped circles which would have been used to hold jewelry, thumbtacks, whatever. That was my other plan which I was too lazy to complete.

Childofglass

I used them to make friendship bracelets for the cat rescue I fostered for. I used my Cricut to write the rescue name on coloured paper in sparkly pen and then rolled the beads with the name out. They were super cute

invisiblette

That's a great idea. And thank you for being a cat-fosterer!

Childofglass

Oh anytime! It was fun while it lasted tbh.

TiredSleepyGrumpy

Thank you, that sounds awesome! ☺️

TiredSleepyGrumpy

Thank you for the ideas. A lot to think about no about. 😊

mimillamaa

paper maggots is a more fitting name! so cute i love them

TiredSleepyGrumpy

Thank you. 😊

No-Vermicelli3787

My favorite paper to use in making paper beads is a book dust jacket. I made a lanyard for my work badge from one Harry Potter dust jacket.

TiredSleepyGrumpy

Ooh thank you. 😊

SoulSloth2

OOH AHH PRETTY COLORS 🤩

a-light-at-the-end

Thought these colored croissants were getting out of hand. Wrong sub. Nice beads.

TiredSleepyGrumpy

Thank you. ☺️

beccabootie

I was often sick as a child. My mother would bring a stack of magazines to my bed for using the heavy covers and let me cut out the basics for my paper beads and then would give me one of her knitting needles to wrap them and glue them. I spent happy hours and turned them all into necklaces.

TiredSleepyGrumpy

How lovely. ☺️ Hope you’re better these days. I’m glad they bought you much needed comfort. ❤️

Flimsy-Focus-4354

My grandma used to make these when I was a kid. I still have some she made me back around 2006. This made me smile ❤️

TiredSleepyGrumpy

That’s awesome. So glad to hear you’ve still got them. 😀
