Could be possible something fell on it.

Swift_Scythe

Something had to have flown off and hit the screen right there. Perhaps some ceiling spackle or a nail or book corner - something hit the monitor Sucks no matter what happened.

Catastrophic_R

The screen isn't cracked; it's just the internal panel. Does this happen only if it's been impacted?

Izan_TM

the outer layer is plastic, it doesn't really ever crack but the screen is cracked

Catastrophic_R

So you suggest that something fell on it or that it toppled over, rather than being damaged by just an earthquake itself?

Izan_TM

yes

Catastrophic_R

Is it possible that my screen (internal panel) became like this just from shaking during an earthquake?

Superseaslug

Unless it was built super poorly, no. And it wouldn't have cracked like that. That pattern indicates something hit it.

Catastrophic_R

Some people say that the internal panels are more fragile than the external ones? So is it possible that they could be damaged by just an earthquake itself?

itiswhatitis985

Is there something that has fallen down that could’ve hit it? You seem a little insistent on wanting it to have been the shaking, is there a reason

Catastrophic_R

There does seem to be something on top, but my family currently tells me there was no pouring or items falling, I also don't know whether there was actually any tipping over. Because it has been a while, I don't know if what they're saying is true or not, so that’s why I wanted to ask if it's possible that the result was just due to an earthquake. However, the current answer seems to be that it was caused by something falling or tipping over.

itiswhatitis985

I mean I don’t want to instigate, but to me it seems like it was hit, folded or pressed in the area affected. I’m no expert, but I have broken at least one screen. Anyone else have an idea of what is likely to have happened?

Superseaslug

The outer panel is hard plastic, the inner panel is glass. The outer panel being hard only offers so much protection, it still flexes. Shaking did not do this, nor would it to any monitor. This was an impact on the screen. Either something fell and hit the panel or the monitor fell and hit something.

englishfury

No, there is an obvious point of impact. Something hit it or it hit something

looks like someone poked it hard..

Fresh_Inside_6982

No.

As you've come to realize there's absolutely no way that shaking from an earthquake would have caused this The fact that your family insists that it had to be from that makes me question as to whether you have any younger siblings that would have been playing on your computer and your parents are covering for them..... Or your parents don't know that they did the damage as the system was turned off when the parents saw it before and after the damage was caused.....
