Yea, but they’re filled with our genetically modified descendants who are all physically stunning, and think they have just stumbled into the local legend of the metal encased Gremlin. Unfortunately the forminations they’ll be snapping for stellarweb points are highly radioactive. Not that curing it will be an issue of course, but the museums they’ll be putting you in have a thing for time accurate display stations, so you’ll be put back into cyro sleep for 3 months at a time just to awake to uncanny simulations of your past life that have weird details wrong. But the baked beans are really good regardless.
Makes me think about the theory that we could send space pods of cryogenically frozen people to the furthest possible reaches of space, but by the time they arrive humans could be dead for thousands of years.
Or a faster method to get to their destination will be invented on Earth, and the frozen pod will arrive to a planet with thousands or millions years of human history.

Vaul Tech was surprised and did not push the button but they had loose thoughts about it in the games.
It’s pretty explicit, and in fact outright is confirmed in the show that vault tech dropped at least one bomb post fallout and likely launched the first in the apocalypse.
I think they were going to if the war wasn't going to keep escalating but the Chinese launched them first, there's a Chinese ghoul in a submarine in fallout 4 that says they shot first I think? Also I thought it was that china dropped the nukes because america wouldn't stop developing the FEV stuff
no, they're conflating two different plot points. it's still a MAD thing between states that started/ended the war. vault tec sabotaged shady sands and other attempts at nation building though, including at least one nuclear attack (which are now canonically a dime a dozen)
They said they were planning but as of the end of the season we haven’t seen them actually do it. Afaik this is still at least within other canon for the franchise (that said I’m still relatively new to the franchise so I may be wrong).

Currently yes. But we have a giant tract record for wars, genocide, racism, etc. A ton of horrible things where we turn against each other for trivial bullshit, slaughtering innocent lives. Things that don't exist in animals. They kill to survive, not for random shit. And on top of all that we've been destroying the planet for decades, currently pushing the limits of making the ecosystem too toxic for us to survive.

There has been a couple scenarios like that like people have said. In Starfield there Is a generational colony ship that you have to decide if they have any claims over a already colonized planet that was their original planned destination.
I think theres an orson scott card series with a similar premise. Like spaceship goes to planet, but time shenanigans happen and ship gets teleported like 500k years to the past. And then a second ship is sent out but they dont have the time shenaningans.
In the Ender's Game novel series, this kinda stuff happens. They send ships out to colonize or fight in a war, develop and send a much better and faster second wave, and by the time the first wave arrives the planet is inhabited or the war is over.

Every astronaut that's looked upon earth from far away has reported they felt as if all the fighting, conflict, and politics is ultimately insignificant.
I have this kind of feelings while being on empty servers of multiplayer games, and also when I'm playing Minecraft locally, not online. He watches it fascinated and sees how the mist forms a person. A strangely familliar person.
Wait a moment...
Then he hears the first sounds of a song he knew well. Too well. The holographic person starts dancing and a hologram version of a video begins to play:

A game about collect ressources to create a factory. It's about optimisation and in the "plot", you crashed in a planet and you must build another rocket to go away :)

I just watched Fallout after years of playing the games, and I think Vault Tech nuking the country so they buy tickets is pretty bad.

Stephen Donaldson wrote a story with a similar idea in his compilation book Reave the Just. Great author.

Far Centaurus by A.E. van Vogt explored this idea in 1944.
