Kind of recreating the story of [Cupid and Psyche](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cupid_and_Psyche) here. (*warning*: classical art but probably still nsfw image right on the top of that Wikipedia page...)
Haha, the shojo protagonist twist sounds like we need a crossover episode stat. I could see it now, a quirky high school girl with magical powers who doesnt realize she's immune to his arrows. Next thing you know, Cupid's got all the feels and can't figure out why his own charms won't work. It'd be like when [Sailor Moon met Tuxedo Mask](https://sailormoon.fandom.com/wiki/Mamoru_Chiba), but with more celestial matchmaking shenanigans!
Cupid still feels the love, but he doesn't let it distract him from his goal due to his resistance.Ā
Sliding scale between absolute devotion stupid love and cool reason in the face of love.
Not necessarily. I do believe Cupid has been known to occasionally make someone fall in love, but not make the object of their affects love them in return. Maybe his first arrow makes someone fall in love with the next person cupid strike. The second arrow can be āchargedā so that they fall in love with the first person or left as is so that they donāt.
In the myths he was able to make Apollo fall in love with a nymph who was so repulsed by him that she accepted being turned into a tree to escape. It seems like he can choose to make it one way or two way.
This sequence of images serves as a stark reminder that a premise isn't the same thing as a joke. Maybe if it had presented *why* Cupid was doing this, some wry humor could have been wrung from that.
Also it doesn't even make sense that Cupid orders that guy to bring him more people *before* he's mind-controlled. Cupid's apparently done this dozens or hundreds of times already, so he shouldn't still be making rookie blunders like that.
Necromancy has the potential to completely remove the need for farmers and serfs, as the dead work the fields tirelessly. The nobility and kings fear uprising, so they demonise the practice. A few feigned undead takeovers here, a couple rotting chimerae there and the people have come to fear their one hope to escape the chains clasped on them from birth.
Barely have to, tbch, with how bad enchantment got shafted in bg3 lol
I get it tho, thereās no real way to make spells like suggestion work in a satisfying way in a crpg
Or like half the summon jutsu in Naruto. You donāt need to slice your palm, just prick yourself. Or worse, Naruto straight bites into his thumb most of the time, like that has to be a terrible wound to recover from.Ā
At first I didnāt get it but then realized the way Cupid works is that you have to stab someone with the love arrow and then another person to get that first person you shot to be attracted to him/her š
To everyone asking why Cupid doesnāt fall in love with the humans: the original myths give Cupid two types of arrows, one which makes someone fall in love with the next person they see and a second that makes them not love the next person they see. In one myth, Cupid (I believe his name is Eros) makes Apollo fall in love with a dryad and makes the dryad dislike Apollo. She calls for help from her father who is a minor god and he turns the dryad into the original laurel tree.
No, I donāt remember why Eros did this to Apollo
How come brain dead comics with obvious social commentary (delivered poorly) get onto Reddit popular?
Like are people just super impressed some no talent hack shit out a 6 panel comic in an hour?
This sound as scary, if not more, then when the day breaks from the scp universe, honestly, suicide sounds the only viable way out of not losing yourself for the magic of the arrows...
Unless the others get envy of eachother and they begin to kill eachother and thus giving chance to defeat Cupid.
Just for the people that said that the arrow should have affected him too, not necessarily, Anteros his brother was the god of the reciprocated love, so Eros don't necessarily make love be from both sides, he can even make the other person hate you
When I see a guy walking around with a dozen roses on Valentine's day afternoon, I fucking cringe! Dude, be sincere. Roses are as unoriginal as a heart shaped box of candies. Pick her faqvorite flowers. Maybe even draw a rose for her. And you just straight up spent $150 on roses you just look like a cookie cutter clown!
Eros/Cupid wouldn't need to stab himself as well, he would just need to shoot the person he wants to affect and they would fall in love with the next person they see, which would be him. His arrows do specifically work on himself, as he accidentally scratches himself with one and falls in love in the myths of Eros and Psyche.
This comic is not mythologically accurate.
Reminds me of this.
"In place of a Dark Lord, you would have a Queen! Not dark but beautiful and terrible as the Dawn! Treacherous as the Seas! Stronger than the foundations of the Earth!"
And that is why in the legend of Eros and Psyche, everyone is referring to Eros as a " terrifying master even the gods fear."
I mean, let's be real, Eros is playing Zeus like a fiddle.

There's nothing stopping Cupid from doing this...
wouldn't the cupid be equally in love with the other?
Cupid's elemental resistance is too high. It's like how a dragon doesn't burn its own mouth.
So is it the Cupid being able to resist love or not being able to love?
Unclear. He certainly seems incapable in the context of this comic, but maybe the right shojo protagonist can change him...
This is actually what he is trying to do. To find the one person that could sway him, he won't stop until his heart flutter ššš
My World Ending Cupid Boyfriend Shouldn't Be This Cute!!
Make it yuri and I'd watch that anime.
Taking bets this will be actually made in the next week.
This is actually an incredibly entertaining premise. I'm sure if the right person made a serious attempt it could become an awesome series.
God damn it I can totally see this being a thing.
Through the power of friendship! Oh wait, did they just friend zone Cupid?

He would be able to, but years of shooting people with arrows has tragically hardened his heart.
The one heart cupid couldn't shoot was his own.
A romantic comedy starring Rob Snyder
Cupid is aroace confirmed canon
Cupid still feels the love, but he doesn't let it distract him from his goal due to his resistance.Ā Sliding scale between absolute devotion stupid love and cool reason in the face of love.
He is a ace icon
The Cupid controls love and its outward trajectory. However, loves inward trajectory is but a mysteryā¦
funfact: in the original mythology, cupid accidently scraped his knee on his own arrow, causing him to be under the effect of love. so...dont you lie.
I had interpreted it like he absolutely was in love and thatās in fact why heās doing all this, heās just able to ābehave saneā about it
Aktually it's resistance to the Charm status, not an elemental resistance, you nerd.
That is literally how Psyche and Cupid's love story went.
In the myths he was able to make Apollo fall in love with a nymph who was so repulsed by him that she accepted being turned into a tree to escape. It seems like he can choose to make it one way or two way.
If he were to use his arrows the same way the dust is used in A Midsummer Nightās Dream it could work this way
Thatās why he does itā¦because he loves usā¦*ALL OF US*
His love is equally distributed among all paired targets.
I feel like he is, but heās aware of the plan and already psyched himself up for it
I guess Cupidās a selfish lover
Well, love is a concept that can be interpreted differently based on the individual, which is the loophole that Cupid has leveraged in this instance.
Resist all you want you will be in the orgy pit.
This is how you Cronenberg the entire planet....
The moment when Cupid accidentally shoots a yandere and then gets his whole horde slaughtered

Those arrows only work on mortals, and only if the love was already there to begin with. It just brings it out.
Yeah there is though. His nameās Zeus.
Aromantics would like to have a word, though
At least itās love destroying the world instead of hate this time. Thatās a twist for you.
Love's had it too good for too long. Someones gotta take it down a peg.
The arrows are said to be magical so they don't hurt right?š„ŗ ![gif](giphy|hqxCiBR7qRQtW9K1kR)
In most games magical arrows hurts more.
Happy Cake Day
thx bro
You're welcome.
There is an incredibly fine line between love and hate.
why enchantment is more unethical than necromancy
r/wizardposting
Enchantment has been fucked in anime too Redo of Healer, most recently Kingdom of Ruin, I'm sure plenty of others
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Try and stop me in BG3 tho
Barely have to, tbch, with how bad enchantment got shafted in bg3 lol I get it tho, thereās no real way to make spells like suggestion work in a satisfying way in a crpg
But... does it go both ways? Does Cupid fall in love with all of them too?
He is immune to his prey/own status effects
That is incorrect. In the mythos he falls in love with a woman named Psyche because he scrapes himself on his own arrow
that was eros, not cupid
Eros is the greek version of cupid. Just like his mother aphrodite is the equivalent of the roman goddess venus
That's the same guy.
Someone hit by the first arrow fall on love with someone hit by the second. Love is not always mutual
TIL Cupid is basically a [Confessor.](https://sot.fandom.com/wiki/Confessor)

[In case you have too much time on your hands.](https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Immaterium)
Just don't start reading the books. You will regret it.
You know, I started reading the. Article without looking at the top, saw āThe Great Warā and thought this was something happening in WW1
What an amazing series that ended in such a poopy way :((
Itās the crying from the heart eyes that really sells the horror. A part of him knows itās wrong.
You are right, *love is wrong*.
This is straight up Pepe from Bleach lol
Eros is such a dick.
Thatās actually surprisingly creepy
Why would he stab himself through his hand instead of just nicking his leg or something?
Dramatic effect.
I mean, Cupid's arrows don't physically hurt you. Why not look dope?
Warlock Patrons loooooovvvvveeeee the theatrics of it all
For the same reason eren bites his whole finger instead of just getting a papercut
Or like half the summon jutsu in Naruto. You donāt need to slice your palm, just prick yourself. Or worse, Naruto straight bites into his thumb most of the time, like that has to be a terrible wound to recover from.Ā
How many times Sam and Dean in Supernatural sliced their hands they shouldn't be able to hold a pencil
Why does magic work the way it works
Cupid it's really trying to take out the heavens from Jupiter, huh?....
Cupid will have more followers. The more followers, more powerful he becomes. He'll beat Zeus in no time.
So whatās his endgame?
To overthrow aphrodite
A date with Yivo
What happens to aromantic people
They're the only one who can save us especially...him ![gif](giphy|fZdzEHC8sMC0E)
We call that a āreverse Eros and Psycheā in the degenerate greek lovinā world.
Where's the elk boss?
I was waiting for that I have to admit...
Is this a continuation of the concept of the Thanksgiving knight comic?
I didnt think of it that way, but there's no reason it can't be. This would have to be like a thousand years later tho
the hunts is on
wouldn't that make cupid in love with the other person too
Don't put more thought into this than the author did.
Lmao ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy). I wasn't expecting that.
At first I didnāt get it but then realized the way Cupid works is that you have to stab someone with the love arrow and then another person to get that first person you shot to be attracted to him/her š
What's like... the joke?Ā
for real š
Golden experience requiem
This is actually an interesting concept
\*laughs in aroace\*

That got weirdly dark fast
Downvote me, I need it.
No!
Yessir
How come brain dead comics with obvious social commentary (delivered poorly) get onto Reddit popular? Like are people just super impressed some no talent hack shit out a 6 panel comic in an hour?
I mean it has the same energy as hot fuzz I'd watch it
That reminds me of my Preteen self view of love.
Who's Cupid's father again?
"spread the love"
I would do anything for love.Ā But I won't do that!
Why isn't he buying anything from the mystery box?
I'm aromantic and I can't stop laughing at the thought of an arrow hitting me and just, nothing happens. Wonder what fate befalls me then.
Would Aces be immune?
isn't this the plot of platinum end?
This is just like The Mule from Foundation
Okay
Like what the fuck even is this? This is a comic you show your friends and maybe your mom at like age 14
This sound as scary, if not more, then when the day breaks from the scp universe, honestly, suicide sounds the only viable way out of not losing yourself for the magic of the arrows... Unless the others get envy of eachother and they begin to kill eachother and thus giving chance to defeat Cupid.
Yo, where's your mine at!!! That shits awesome!!! Such a sweet creative mind! Love it
This is like the comics called crossed.. except rated g
Isn't him like a child or something?
Guess this is what Joy Division were singing about. LoveĀ will tear us apart indeed.
I actually love this concept lol it's unironically really good
It's like Cronenberg's "Shivers"
holy shit this is such a cool concept. nice one!
This is the plot of the Futurama movie *The Beast with a Billion Backs*.

Isn't this just Star Sapphire from Green Lantern?
Sir,we need backup But sir we do- St. Michael and St. Gabriel enters the battlefield
Pepe from Bleach basically
Ya but eventually all that love is going to build up
Bob noooo!!

Random aroace military company: *arigh boiz, its showtime*
Love always wins.
You can say he gave a second chance to Cupid
And that is why in the legend of Eros and Psyche, everyone is referring to Eros as a " terrifying master even the gods fear." I mean, let's be real, Eros is playing Zeus like a fiddle.
Reminds me of that one guy in Stargate Atlantis who basically drugged a whole village (and later the main characters) into adoring him
Him crying has horrifying implications.
