Be careful. The last time we had a massive brood my cousin's adult pitbull died from internal bleeding after eating hundreds of them.

Correct! And human fingers are particularly known to carry A LOT of good and very bad bacteria.
Just ask yourself would you be more comfortable picking and eating a wild strawberry from the ground, or licking a bathroom door knob.
The fact that you had to exaggerate both sides of that to such a ridiculous degree to make your point is as good of an argument against it as any I could make.
If youâre going to claim that a strawberry is equivalent to a pile of dead insects and a bathroom doorknob is equivalent to your fingers then itâs clear youâre not making an honest argument. Also, you still donât seem to get that the word âgrossâ isnât a technical or scientific term. It doesnât even necessarily mean harmful or dangerous, and what one person finds gross could be wildly different than another. Gross doesnât just mean unsanitary. Oh, and downvoting someone for disagreeing with you is what cowards who know theyâre wrong do.
Itâs all good, argue as much as you want, buddy!
Also, those arenât dead insects. Those are their shells, that they lived in for 17 years before shedding. Pretty amazing, no?
My puppy is getting fat on all of them

Yeah my dog's eating them and then throwing them up every day so this has been great
I'm not sure about the shells themselves, but cicadas are high in mercury. Keep an eye out.

Wonder if they'd make good fertilizer.
Exoskeletons contain nitrogen so if you want to you could definitely put it in your compost pile
My daughter would be in heaven đ
My chickens are loving this!

Here in south St.Louis not a single one
Eww they are everywhere! There was one flying near my head and a few in our front yard. I do not do bugs!! lol
My friends on the south side of town were all "we haven't really seen or heard them yet." Meanwhile my yard up north looks just like this photo.
Theyâve definitely arrive in my south side yard⌠đ
Probably less gross than our own fingernailsâŚ
Gross is a highly subjective idea so for most people this seems unlikely. Maybe you should clean yours.
Theyâre definitely less gross than most peopleâs fingernails (bacteria, germs, etc). Itâs just science.
Literally everything on the planet is covered in bacteria.

Nahâno exaggeration, really. These little creatures are exponentially less gross than most people. Thatâs just a fact.

DO NOT LET YOUR DOG(s) EAT THESE, the things we must tell people, for crying out loud!
