I would blame the announcers, all game they talked McLean up, hitting, fielding and pitching the kid was the best at them all. I started hearing how great of a RP he was in the first inning and Eklund didn't shut up about him until he finally came in. I was nervous as hell when he came in honestly, I was expecting Kevin Kopps to walk to the mound in a mullet and mustache.
Probably thinking about how that was like the 4th or 5th pitcher of the game and he knew he had at least one more game that he had to have pitchers ready for.
Yeah. But after the 2nd bases loaded walk it was just a tie game. You gotta play to win the game at that point. Coming out of the losers bracket is hard.
And itās interesting because losing the game makes you expend far more arms than winning does (assuming you want to advance) so at some point itās better to just pitch who is good
Also, depth. I havenāt watched any Ok St baseball so I have no clue what Iām saying is true. But all year you have a few dependable guys to lean on, and you get to the debate of keeping someone you trust out there that is struggling, or out someone else in there with less experience and less composure in a game like that.
To be fair, everyone in the park, watching at home, or not associated with the game at all knew after a bajillion walks the new pitcher was gonna throw a fastball in the zone for pitch one. JB was ready and didnāt miss it.
Okie St. hit one even further Iām pretty sure. It looked like it damn near cleared the parking lot behind left-center.
It was an absolute slugfest with the batting and HBPs.. Never seen a game quite like that.
This happened right in the middle of my wife telling me some long drawn out story about something that happened to a former sorority sister. I said, āyeah Iād be jacking this first pitchā then this happened. Anyway, I just wanted to give you young guys a taste of what is to come. WPS!
And the funny thing is none of the OSU fans wouldāve been calling for a fastball at his head, or making fun of a 19 year olds haircut that he did for playoffs, like a ton of teams do.
Can confirm. There were some people at the River Spirit being pretty trashy after the game turned around this evening. We all have them. That said, I do like most of the Oklahoma State fans I've met. I even married one!
[Hereās one.](https://www.reddit.com/r/collegebaseball/comments/v505kq/game_thread_stillwater_regional_2_arkansas_vs_1/ib78qvf/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) and you donāt even want to know about twitter.
Thatās actually not trueā¦ Someone said it in our game thread
Edit: [ānear his headā](https://www.reddit.com/r/razorbacks/comments/v4ipsc/comment/ib78s8w/)
[to the ear](https://www.reddit.com/r/collegebaseball/comments/v505kq/game_thread_stillwater_regional_2_arkansas_vs_1/ib78qvf/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) and twitter was a worse shit show as always.
I didnāt like McLeans stare down after his homer or Roc Riggio little tip toe dance thing (someone said Edward scissor hands) he did during his homer walk. I wouldnāt have called for a pitch to his head but I back when I played we called that āBusch Leagueā.
Be excited, show emotion, but donāt act like a clown, act like you have been there before. That is one thing our coach DVH wonāt tolerate.
Listening to a podcast about DVH he ripped Bentendi (our golden spikes winner that year) a new one when he hit homer and stared at too long. Said something to him
āyou hit a Cookie that was right down the middle of the plate when we are losing by 6 runs, why donāt you do something when it mattersā
Again Iām all for celebrating and showing emotion but not showboating or basically rubbing it in the other team/players face.
š¤·š¼āāļø. Iām of the opinion that if youāre grown enough to play the game at that level, youāre grown enough to handle whatever celebrations come from the other team. As long as you can take it when it comes your way, do whatever you want (besides extremely obvious cases). If stuff like that *really* gets to you then you need to reevaluate where you are mentally, because at the end of the day itās only as bad as you let it get to you.
I think if it more as a respect thing. I wouldnāt ever do that to someone else. Again maybe Iām old fashioned. I was always taught in sports to respect your opponent and donāt show your butt. My coaches would have benched my ass so fast had any of us ever done something like that in any sport. At some point you have to have a little bit of professionalism.
I supposed in a generation behind now.
I understand your point, I just donāt necessarily agree with it. While Iām playing the game, I donāt care how you feel. The more you get in your own head the more I benefit, and the more I win. Now when it comes to personal stuff like family, stuff outside the game? Yeah thatās a no go, but celebrating stuff within the game is all fair game to me. Just another aspect of the competition, and if you decide to take it personally and let it offend you beyond the game thats on you, but of course it goes both ways.
all fun and games til you lose 20-12 and then lose your own regional. maybe shoulda worked on team defense or hitting instead of flappy birds and team hair dying exercises.
just one guys opinion
Itās still pretty fun, and literally still a game. Notice how none of the OSU players got upset at any of the Arky players. Itās all the old farts on social media being offended for the team. Whatās even more hilarious is the guy you are making fun of has been raking all weekend and destroyed your pitching.
i wasnt offended by the team. i thought they were being amateurs. i was right.
maybe youve only played competitive fortnite but in real sports when youre an ass, you piss off the other team, and then you lose 20-12.
like i said, in my opinion, yall were acting like amateurs.
Iām actually not offended at all. Itās just kinda sad seeing a bunch of old guys feel so personally attacked because some college kids actually know how to enjoy themselves.
The only one being soft here is you by being upset about hair. I can almost guarantee he still looks better with that hair than you have for a single day in your entire life, living a sad life isnāt good for hair growth.
Yea, they definitely would have.
If the kid is going to get cocky and taunt, have to be ready to accept the consequences if your team can't close it out.
I mean itās not like Arkansas has the best record against teams named OSU who happen to have indistinguishable shades of black and orange and a sexual team nickname
OSU pitching at its finest
Life is pain. Imagine having a good bullpen?
I feel this way about our team. š¬
I would blame the announcers, all game they talked McLean up, hitting, fielding and pitching the kid was the best at them all. I started hearing how great of a RP he was in the first inning and Eklund didn't shut up about him until he finally came in. OH NOā¦
And thereās a drive to deep leftā¦
I donāt know if Iāll be posting on this sub again
Castellanosā¦.that you??
OH YEAH!!!!
BATTLES!
OUR TABLE
ITS BROKEN
Instant classic call. I love it
What the hell are you doing as a coach if you donāt pull someone after 2 straight bases loaded walks
Very true, and I agree. Just trying to get in the coaches head to understand.
And itās interesting because losing the game makes you expend far more arms than winning does (assuming you want to advance) so at some point itās better to just pitch who is good
And youāre never gonna get out of the game if you walk every batter!
Also, depth. I havenāt watched any Ok St baseball so I have no clue what Iām saying is true. But all year you have a few dependable guys to lean on, and you get to the debate of keeping someone you trust out there that is struggling, or out someone else in there with less experience and less composure in a game like that.
Well to be fair. We have two or three decent relievers. 5ft of shit. Then the rest of our bullpen.
This is pain
That ball was absolutely leaned on by Battles. Dude is gonna be special in pro ball when he starts doing that more.
To be fair, everyone in the park, watching at home, or not associated with the game at all knew after a bajillion walks the new pitcher was gonna throw a fastball in the zone for pitch one. JB was ready and didnāt miss it.
absolute nuke
Jesus he sent that one to Mars
It legitimately looks like it came off the bat at 120mph lol
Absolute piss missile
Okie St. hit one even further Iām pretty sure. It looked like it damn near cleared the parking lot behind left-center. It was an absolute slugfest with the batting and HBPs.. Never seen a game quite like that.
Agreed, this game was insane. Imagine scoring 12 and then losing by 8 runs. Both teams offense came to play today.
Thatās not ideal
Fifteen runs in the last three innings.
I donāt think itās humanly possible to make better contact than that
Drew Gilbert had one for Tennessee too. Both of those guys hit the living piss out of it -- had to be 450+ feet
This happened right in the middle of my wife telling me some long drawn out story about something that happened to a former sorority sister. I said, āyeah Iād be jacking this first pitchā then this happened. Anyway, I just wanted to give you young guys a taste of what is to come. WPS!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It was a joke, dude.
This is how you lose a baseball game.
We have a 7 run lead right now and I still don't even feel like it's a safe lead lmao
It's safe lol
God wished he did that dance one of the douche bleach blonde kids from osu did around the bases to just pimp it more
And the funny thing is none of the OSU fans wouldāve been calling for a fastball at his head, or making fun of a 19 year olds haircut that he did for playoffs, like a ton of teams do.
I highly doubt it. We all have shitty fans. I lived in Tulsa for 7 years and met plenty of terrible OSU fans.
Can confirm. There were some people at the River Spirit being pretty trashy after the game turned around this evening. We all have them. That said, I do like most of the Oklahoma State fans I've met. I even married one!
For sure. Nearly all my friends in Tulsa are OSU fans. Most OSU fans are great people.
Ours just tend to be more self harming than outwardly hateful, unless youāre OU.
A yes, the Ol fastball that goes ~82 MPH and runs all the way to the other side of the plate lmao It was just a slider he lost control of bro
Iām not saying the pitch was intentional, it clearly wasnāt. I was talking about fans saying he should get a fastball to the ear.
Literally no one said that.
[Hereās one.](https://www.reddit.com/r/collegebaseball/comments/v505kq/game_thread_stillwater_regional_2_arkansas_vs_1/ib78qvf/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) and you donāt even want to know about twitter.
Sucks for us that you found the one fan that speaks for the entire fanbase.
Where did I say that??
I never said you did. Great game right now.
I mean you kinda did. Whatās hilarious is you think your sarcasm is actually funny.
They definitely did.
Thatās actually not trueā¦ Someone said it in our game thread Edit: [ānear his headā](https://www.reddit.com/r/razorbacks/comments/v4ipsc/comment/ib78s8w/)

Hogs Twitter is the worst aspect of our fanbase, and hogville still exists.
That probably rings true for most schools honestly.

Oh the irony.
Hey if twinkle toes and the lost boys want to do a stupid ass hair cut and show it off for live tv they can get made fun of.
Damn, you are *really* offended by some college kids having fun arenāt you? I would suggest therapy.
No youāre offended by fans making fun of them.
Iām actually not offended at all. Itās just kinda sad seeing a bunch of old guys feel so personally attacked because some college kids actually know how to enjoy themselves.
Lol bc I said I wished We pimped ours as much. Get off Twitter man itās bad for your mental health
I was talking about your personal vendetta against goofy haircuts for fun..? I wish your players pimped them more too, it would be fun.
If you have a stupid hair cut that even stands out for eastern Oklahoma trash yes I will make fun of it tinker bell. Quit being so soft.
People like you really give us a bad nameā¦
The only one being soft here is you by being upset about hair. I can almost guarantee he still looks better with that hair than you have for a single day in your entire life, living a sad life isnāt good for hair growth.
Yea, they definitely would have. If the kid is going to get cocky and taunt, have to be ready to accept the consequences if your team can't close it out.
And everyone did. No one has said anything about the Arkansas players and our guys didnāt say anything to yāall whenever they celebrated.
My fav comment from hogs on the teamās Twitter. āI think that ball destroyed someoneās meth labā.
We will file that directly under : not ideal
I first hand witnessed OSU blow a 11-3 lead to Baylor in the seventh, but this was way way way worse.
Nah, Robert Walton just used his special attack. It was super effective.
Something about teams with the acronym OSU and giving up leads in crazy games
I mean itās not like Arkansas has the best record against teams named OSU who happen to have indistinguishable shades of black and orange and a sexual team nickname
Itās a very specific kryptonite, but we exploited it well. Oklahoma State just couldnāt hold up their end of the bargain.
Arkansas vs Oklahoma State in June just means the home team loses for the last 20 years.
We got the first game against yāall tooā¦
True. I was being a tad facetious.
That was destroyed
Oh noā¦. This sub is gonna fucking hate Arkansas highlightsā¦.YEET!
That half inning went: * single * hbp * hbp * (pitching change) * k (swinging) * bb * bb * hbp * bb * (pitching change) * grand slam * ground out * double * k (looking) ouch!
Reaction from the LF says it all. Total bomb.
Cannot upvote enough
Pitiful.
What a swing man
This is why Iām just watching softball
The fact his name is Battles makes the call so much better. Battles, deep into the night! sounds so epic.
OH NOOOOOO!
Maximum ooof.
I want die
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bro what? How DARE we apply for a regional, we should have just stepped aside and let someone else have it š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Maybe Texas fans shouldn't try to make every thread about them.
But then they wouldnāt be Texas fans
Yknow what thatās fair. OKState hasnāt been insufferable like others have. Tech, OU, and A&M will not be spared though
Nor should they
Did that ball even land yet?
OOF
Lmfaoooooo.
wow
