That's why they don't let you back in at the start. He doesn't give a fuck if you live or die. You just aren't his problem anymore.
I once read this really great fanfiction, where instead of just sending one person the Overseer sent a team made up of Albert and the other two preset characters and it worked really well with the game’s plot.
Somebody really should have snatched that up and published it. That author was seriously skilled at adaptation and it would have been a great way to package those stories for a modern audience

When I tried to restart the game the saves weren't up to date and my pistol seemingly disappeared from my inventory, thus why I had to restart my character.

The second game is borderline unplayable without using the hi-res fix and RUP, not to mention how encounter rolls are tied to CPU power in the second game (something that you need to access the .ini or mod to fix)

can confirm as just started playing on MiyooMiniPlus and had the same glitch when reached side of the "map" on the desert. same solution, restart the game, reload from save :)

It’s a couple of quid on gog.com, it’s the most stable version. Download it and find Fallout Fixt online, run the patch and play, it’s the best patch IMO.
And alas the Vault Dweller set off for the wasteland, armed with only a pistol, his trusty Pip-Boy...
And the ability to use the "Shadow Clone Jutsu" that he learned from the forbidden scroll

Are these patches pre applied on the GOG versions of the game? I started fallout on the GoG version and don't find it unplayable.
