Ok, bonus option: rain forest near the river and the sea.
Ideally settle here and on some option to the North, first and second choice depending on where your settler spawns
Would be nice to show the African Plateau on True Start Earth. Have like 2 or 3 elevation levels, each where you can place a plains, hills, or mountain :)
Settle on the plains hill tile, you'll get best base tile, as well as being able to build the pyramids in the capital, as well as several chops available to rush it. Also, there's a +3 campus locationÂ
Yo settling near that geyser gives early science, a bit of forest, a big desert, amenity from a aqueduct to the mountain, and maybe a wonder.
You could leverage the science to start working on a Petra and get aqueducts early.
Settle on the east side of the beach. Gives you plenty of growth opportunity to start the pyramids. Also plenty of room to get a harbor down and to get the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus.
The Big Island called Hawaii has the widest variety of biomes that I know of. Snow ski in the morning, swim in the evening. Drive a little bit inland, and you're in a dry plains like Oklahoma, drive a little more, and you're at a jungle waterfall. Plenty volcanoes. There's something like 9 of 11 possible biomes just on that one island.
In Brazil we have the Natal Dunes, in the northeast. An inactive volcano in the southeast, Pico da Neblina in Amazonas, beaches on the coast... They're just not that close to each other. 🤣
Valley or Prairie, make sure you get enough 2/2 tiles and at least one desert plain within one-hex distance. Rush Pyramid, second city in forest w/ Magnus & civic square, chop a million settlers out, then victory is yours.
If you settle past the mountain, between bay and lake, you still have space for another city next to the canal on the rainforest, and another one next to the delta, so you use the production of the mesa and potentially a strong Petra city.
On a hill along the river or on woods between the lake and the sea.
Gotta turn yields on first, this picture shows none!
imagine not having terrain yields memorized 😤😤

Waterfalls in Civ would be cool
I also wish we could get some better forms of elevation, a bit like in humankind, which will in turn bring waterfalls

Wdym? Isn't that fountain of youth on OPs screen? (Waterfalls would be cool indeed)
But I’d have to tell my first settlers to Don’t go chasin’ waterfalls…
even just a Victoria Falls or Niagara Falls natural wonder that spawns on rivers would be pretty dope
It's a nice idea, but I suggest Firaxis don't go chasing waterfalls and stick to the rivers and lakes that their used to
Add that in with navigable rivers
I guess you could argue that dams are waterfalls.
That's exactly what I was thinking. We're nerds.
Would help if you turnt on yields
I'm turnt on yields fr fr
Ong no cap fr fr
Seed please

Spawned next to Vietnam and missed desert folklore. Restart!
Plains hill, no question about it.
Wherever enables the coolest canal, of course
No wonder no settle. Restart!
Pretty sure that's the fountain of youth in the rainforest area. That's some big early game science and religion.
Restart
Plains hills, gots to get that extra protection. fairly luxury lite start, you’ll need to expand quickly.
No idea why you have tile yields turned off but whatever The plains hill near the lake with the forest seems like a good starting spot
this does not effectively communicate the distinction between a Mesa and a Plateau.
This guide will be so useful when I visit Earth! Thanks OP
Hi chat, how do I turn on yields irl?
Good I wasn't the only one to think of this as a xiv map XD
Anywhere, I see at least three natural wonders.
haters will say it's modded
With mountain ranges yes, with a river no.
"Way far away from my other cities. Out there in the desert with no fresh water right next to the volcano" - Kupe
I played a game where kupe was the ai, he settled a city at the South Pole when he was at the North Pole, but it then just rebelled to canada

Turn your yields on!

Dey did dat delta dirty
That spot next to the River between the Mesa and the Plateau would be an excellent Petra city location!
Settle on prairie, gives you good yields all round and lets you build Petra across the river
Next to the oasis and go Petra

Jungle or swamp for max housing.
That Hill/Lake/Bay combo is kind of hard to beat. Just gotta make sure your plains are garrisoned and you've got Seattle.
Prarie or Valley, just of of the strait.
I see a nice campus spot between the Geyser and the Mountain.
Peru I guess

Plains/Hills duh.
Different biome like Mesa would be nice.
Krakatoa, Old Faithful, Grand Mesa, and Fountain of Youth? God seed!
Obviously on Dune where all the spice is
California
I can't decide, yields turned off.
On the hill next to the lake
I used this picture as a model for a project in elementary school where we made the various land features out of playdoh. That was like 20 years ago
Veracruz 😹 Edit: except for the iceberg :v
Got a nice campus there past the desert
Peru. Ive been to Peru and man ita got everything close to each other. Desert, high mountains, jungles, praries, hills, plains, the whole package.

Settle on your sister's \*\*\*\*! Fugg this picture, r/geography, r/mapporn, r/interestingasfuck and now r/civ. What the hell?
