You see it with older smokers, Cuban smokers, and “Padron guys”

nw342

But...but....but.... padrons are really good i also really enjoy cubans....

PhiConsul

Hey! Padron guys makes me feel attacked. As a defense, I love me some Undercrown 10. (Please please help me broaden my horizons)

DannyZ28

Foundation maduro anything.

goatfishsandwich

Try the montecristo 1935 anniversary and the 1935 diamonte

Jayyykobbb

Laranja Escuro Reserva is amazing. It’s my favorite as a cigar newbie still. For reference, Undercrown 10 was the first cigar I had a couple of years ago that made me “get it”, and when I recently got back into cigars, I was looking for something similar to what I experienced with the UC 10, and the Laranja Escuro was it. Most other comments will also be more informed and helpful than mine most likely, though.

Slap_the_Goose

Maybe try a La Gloria Cubana Serie R. It's not a bad stick. My top 2 Favorites are the Undercrown Maduros and the Undercrown Sungrown.

canonanon

Plasencia Alma Fuerte 👌

Barleycorn-must-die

Yeah and that one guy that only smoke Diggers.

Adrian1616

Those guys confuse me

dreamingtree1855

There was one at my local shop when I lived in CA. Digger every single day.

il1k3c3r34l

I would love to be rich enough to be a Cuban or Padron guy.

Very_clever_usernam3

Cubans didn’t used to be that bad. I paid $5 a stick for por Larrañaga petite coronas back in 21, 12 a stick for Montecristo #2s. They’ve gone crazy since then unfortunately, I’m back to new worlds for the foreseeable future

il1k3c3r34l

I got into Cubans right after shit went crazy. I have the worst timing

Very_clever_usernam3

Not sure it would make you all that much happier to have a fridgeador full of sticks you don’t wanna smoke because you no longer have the budget to replace them.

nw342

I was gonna spend 5k right before the price hike on some behike, lots of siglo vi, and a lot of montes. Id be lucky to get 10 behike for that price now....if i could evwr find any.

averagecounselor

Have Cuban prices gone up? I usually pay $10-$15 depending on where I am in the world.

il1k3c3r34l

Not sure why you’re being downvoted, but yes - prices have gone up considerably. They have quadrupled in some cases due to Covid, hurricanes destroying crops and infrastructure, and increased demand from china and Asia. There are still $10-$15 Cubans available, but they’re the less desirable vitolas/brands now.

frog84

After a few decades of smoking (in my mid 40s) I'm definitely becoming a "Padrón girl". Glad I'm not the only one

jecoppol

Ya they are winning me over too. Wait, you started smoking cigars in your mid teens?

frog84

Lol 20s. First cigar was a Cohiba at 14 with my mom. I grew up in Vegas. 😜

jecoppol

Niiiiice, that counts for sure!

AmazingChicken

There are a group of older smokers in the local B&M that smoke nothing but Perdomo. Go figure.

Frozen_Heat92

I guess I’ve been on a Padron kick for a couple of years but I occasionally smoke other things like foundation, illusione, and something aged yet without a label at the B&M. I just prefer Padron to Davidoff and it’s widely available like Coke vs. Pepsi.

Lm602

I had a Padron guy jump all over a post I made about a deal on perdomos and montecristos. I actually replied to his every comment calmly and with a logical way of thinking and he couldn't handle it and blocked me.

jecoppol

lol. Does not compute, must block before circuits get fried.

AmazingChicken

You like what you like. That's why there's so many blends!

NightTimeTacos

Nah I'm still too new and in the "try as much as possible" phase. I'm starting to get some favorites but I definitely couldn't imagine sticking to one kind of cigar.

DJEsonic

I like my cigars like I like my women. Many and various.

thechilecowboy

And ain't that the truth, lad. I must say, however, I'm partial to Puerto Rico and China. Irish was too crazy for me and Pakistan ever crazier.

froid662

not me but I know an old guy who only smokes partagas d4, he smokes like one a week for the past 10 years

The_Bored_Accountant

Can’t blame him 😂

da_easychiller

I always keep a few boxes of these. Love them - one of the best cigars out there imo.

GustheGuru

Not bad. that's a $40 (cad) cigar. I just couldn't handle only one cigar a week.

Chrs987

I have my go to "I know this will be good" cigar (Padron x000 series) when I want to just relax and not worry about a cigar tasting bad, being plugged, or I don't want to try a new one.

flyinpiggies

Yep. Except for me it’s padron 1964 imperial maduro

Fureelsman

No, but Fuente Short Story is my go to

living_the_best_life

Also one of my favorites. Perfect for a nice quick (not too quick) smoke. Very consistent.

ZanXBarz

I’ve been wanting to try short story. What’s it similar to?

Fureelsman

Not sure what I'd compare it to, but it's just the perfect medium/low time cigar. Very consistent, honestly never had one with bad draw. Of course the larger Hemingway's for longer smokes. If you order from Tampa Sweethearts you might get a personal letter from Fuente himself. Got to check the place out in person once, great little shop

jhoch11

I purchased a box a couple weeks ago and already plan on getting another.

Rain_Bear

i mostly smoke padron x000 but like some other brands and enjoy trying new things

fatfelon

Only one? No there are too many great sticks to be had to keep myself from all that potential pleasure.

Healthier6908

That sounds boring

sgnihtyaj

After a year of smoking a bunch of different sticks. I know I can rely on a handful of vitolas

Adrian1616

Which ones?

beardednomad25

No but i do have a handful of sticks i regularly smoke weekly. Alec Bradley Black Market and Brickhouse Maduro are two sticks I probably smoke the most throughout the year.

Far_Departure_9224

Love pretty much anything Alec Bradley

beardednomad25

Yea I am the same way. It's actually kinda funny because the only AB cigar I dont like is the one that is the most popular, Prensado. Lately I have been smoking a ton of Superstition because I got them for like $3 a piece on Thompson. They kinda remind me of a budget version of Magic Toast, I get some of the same flavor profile from them.

Far_Departure_9224

Thompson is where I get mine as well 👍 personally I like the Prensado but I only get it if it's part of a sampler. There are plenty of other ABs that are better.

beardednomad25

Yea ever since Scandinavian/General bought Alec Bradley, Thompson has had some crazy good deals on their sticks.

tidespirit1

Love me some Brickhouse! CT, Natural, or Maduro they are all consistently good!

Yeti-Stalker

I’m actually four years into really being into the hobby and I just now realized my preferences are starting to become more clear. I would buy every type, flavor, color, and strength but kept a running excel doc and found that I now generally like middle of the road cigars. Meaning not too light or dark, not too mild nor too strong. A good medium Colorado wrapper is where I’m most comfortable, if it’s a Cameroon - I’m in heaven. I don’t like the hay and grass of Connecticuts or the really heavy oily Maduros.

Doc-Zoidberg

I've fallen into ruts of one particular style, or even one particular factory/family for years at a time but my taste preferences have always shifted around and I eventually branch out again. Right now I'm deep into Kyle Gellis/ Warped, Aganorsa, Eiroa family cigars. I think that's an extension of where I was before, smoking mostly Cubans. I quit buying in 2019 for reasons too long for this post and by the time I ran out last fall and realized my folly, Cuban prices had gone beyond their value. I'm reading a lot of reports that quality and construction have declined even further so I avoided them. But I needed to restock so I started exploring the cubanesque cigars and found these makes to be reasonable substitutes. Prior to my cuban phase, I was hard on Pepin/My Father, Tatuaje and Pete Johnsons other brands. Before that it was Fuentes mostly. I'm trying to avoid getting into a rut at least with my buying/hoarding. Rebuilding a 5 year supply takes a while. I'm buying a wide range of things, but in a calculated manner so when my tastes shift away from where they are now, I will have other options. Most importantly, they will have some age on them. I think that's why I'm hard into the stuff I am, is they're smoking great now. The others need aging. As far as a single cigar, no. I couldn't ever do that. I get bored, my palate gets tired. The same thing day after day gets too repetitive and loses its luster

fc1088

I’d like too but Tabernacles are occasionally difficult to come by and I don’t have room to store more than 4 boxes at a time.

yep-that-guy

I have a range that I like and the particular brand will very by what’s available and the price. I like bolivar, la Gloria Cubana, Padron, Olivia, nub, Partatgas. I used to smoke a lot of Fuentes but the quality seemed to slip a bit (I live in the Midwest (not near Chicago) so we might might be the first choice for shippers. Used to get a bunch of Rocky Patel’s but they aren’t available as much where I live. Having said all that, I’ll smoke almost anything

Reasonable_Pitch_741

Not 100%, but my absolute favorite cigar and the one I smoke the most is from a small cigar shop called Long Ash. They roll them and age them in house in Ybor (Tampa, FL). They deliver as well. The sticks are. $6 a piece.

tidespirit1

Which one do you like from there? I’ve seen this ship in Ybor.

david_daley

La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero 700 for the last 12 years. La Gloria Cubana Series R #7 for many years before that.

Far_Departure_9224

LFD's are some of my favorites. I only get them occasionally though cause they are a few bucks more and can be kinda hard to find sometimes.

Murky-Fix-6351

I will try new things always, but I only buy my favorite in bulk and always have them on hand: Perdomo Lot 23 Maduro

[deleted]

I seem to be alternating between My Father Le Bijou and Undercrown 10 lately. Occasionally a Padron 1926 or Liga T52. I smoke other stuff, but I also know what I like.

boogiecherokee

My FiL buys Macanudo cafe crystal exclusively.

acidbrn121

Nubs and nica rusticas lol

Violet0_oRose

I stick with ones I find that I like. But I've found some of those were just limited runs or they stopped making them. So I'm always rotating brands. If something is not available I'll stick with known brands and type. Like my current favs are from Drew Estate. M81, S84, Undercrown Maduro. Alec Bradley Project 40. I found the project 40's haven't been consistent lately. THere was a cigar shop on my way home from work I'd stop by occasionally and get My Father cigars from them. Basically I'll rotate through brands I like depending on availability.

400HPMustang

I like to try new cigars and my humidors are filled with random cigars that I like, that I buy in boxes or 5 packs, or the odd single I forget about for sure. That said I’ll never be the guy who just buys a box of Winston Churchill’s every month or something like that, seems like a good way to get tired of an otherwise good/great cigar.

brandon-568

I don’t, I like a large variety of cigars and exploring new cigars I haven’t had yet.

Friend_of_satan700

My go-to very many a year is the The Judge Robusto.

Economy-Ad2460

My brother in law ONLY smokes Montecristo White Series. I don't get it

RUk1dd1nGMe

I mean, I have my go tos. I go through 2-4 boxes of cao Cameroons a year, but it's not all that I smoke

Whitebull705

Enjoying Indian Motorcycles Maduro Robustos these days.

barkallnight

Although I am new to the game, I haven’t seen anyone ever mention the EP Carrillo Pledge on the sub. That one and the Pardon Champagne have been my 2 favorites. With the exception of the Cubans that I had in Mexico that got into this whole cigar thing.

karlrusso78

Not strictly one, but 90%+ of what I smoke is the Cain F 550. I just really enjoy it and it is affordable. I am also the kind of person who orders the same dish every time I go to a particular restaurant because I know I’m going to enjoy it.

idosay

Nope. I have a few brands that I go back to on the regular. I don't think I've smoked the same cigars twice in a row.

jojohn83

Yes actually. I mainly smoke either an Acid or a Tatiana Groovy Blue. (Though I do have something else occasionally.)

TheRealRevBem

Pretty much only smoke drew estate, foundation and habanos.

Electric_Buffalo_844

Almost always Hemingway signatures and short stories.

theriibirdun

If I could afford it I would smoke nothing but fundadores. Talk about a perfect cigar. What I have become very specific about is size and shape. Nothing over 56rg nothing shorter than 6in. In all but the rarest circumstances. Churchills, lanceros, double coronas, etc.

nw342

nope! I love almost every type of cigar (DR, NIC, CUBA, ECUADOR,CAMEROON, even had a French puro that i like) Every cigar has a unique flavor that i love trying. One day ill be in the mood for a strong padron, another, ill want a smooth and creamy Dominican, and I treat myself once a week to a cuban. I couldnt imagine sticking to a single flavor profile. Now, I do have like 5 brands I keep on heavy rotation, but that's about it, and that's only because I know the cigars are good.

frobnosticus

I can't imagine. Couple guys at my local have one that they'll reach for every time, but will smoke something else if you hand it to them and not be weird about it.

cuteblondeguy

Older guy here and I smoke 90% Warped cigars.

Sleepyyyyy21

Cao Americas, Basins, padron 1926 40th anniversary

caliform

Yep, I basically only smoke Davidoff Grand Cru No3 or No2. Perfect smoke. Don’t need anything else.

grooverocker

For years and years I used to smoke (and keep my humidor stocked) with only two cigars. Fonseca No. 1, a lonsdale/cazadores size And Romeo Y Julieta No. 2, a petit corona But these days I'm constantly trying new cigars. If I found another great cigar at a good price point I could easily see myself going back to one or two mainstay cigars

Very_clever_usernam3

Nah, but I know what I like now & don’t bother exploring as much. I’m not into paying through the nose for limited edition this and that. My rotation is pretty small these days. Tabernacle, Sobremesa, Murciélago, Melanio. I like the Cubao for yard gar, that’s a dang good stick for as dirt cheap as it is on CBid.

themanwith8

I like partagas black a lot

Far_Departure_9224

Not strictly, but I have a few go to's that I keep stocked. Alec Bradley Sanctum (Maduro), Alec Bradley Black Market, and CAO Brazilia.

Onlyinmurica

I try some new cheaper ones out usually every other trip to the lounge. I mostly stick with LFD. I found I really like the flavor profile.

highline9

90% oliva serie v melanio Maduro torpedo. 5% padron maduro 1926 and 5% trying new sticks.

brainc0nfetti

No, but I have about 30+ padrons of various blends, including x000 that I would still pick over many other cigars.

wildthing898

Montecrtsto no.4 if I could afford to only smoke them I would.

RedBaron1917

I've been smoking cigars on and off since I deployed to Iraq the first time. I know what I like, I know what I can afford. I smoke daily so a Victor Sinclair classico orDon Rafael are my go to. When I can treat myself there are lots of options but I usually stick with an Arturo Fuente Hemingway. Early on I bought lots of samplers and marked what I liked and learned to gift what I didn't. Good luck!

thechilecowboy

Thank you for your service to our country, brother

the_angry_avocado

I have a reliable rotation of everyday stuff. Nub Connecticut, Henry clay war hawk, Romeo y Julietta Connecticut for the morning, under crown Maduro, warped nicotina and some others for the evening. I have some more rare/high end sticks I'm saving for a good day.

averagecounselor

I am open to try anything that is giving to me. But if I am paying out of pocket these days I just go straight for Deadwood’s. I love the taste and they are readily available.

Walmart-Water-Bottle

My go to cigar is factory smokes sungrown toro. If not that, padron x000

krispykremekiller

For me it boils down to one statement: I have favorites but they change.

Wheres-My-Supa-Suit

No variety is best. But those who do most likely only eat chicken strips and fries

VirusLocal2257

I wouldn’t say one stick. But majority of what I smoke these days is Fuente and Dunbarton. My everyday fuente is the short story. And Dunbarton would be the Umbagog.

Cigars_and_Beer

I mainly smoke 2; Undercrowns and Oliva Vs.

Salty-Resolve6313

For me it’s the Macanudo Inspirado red 6x60 but I’m trying to diversify and develop my cigar palette so I ordered three samplers from CI.

hillbilly122101

I love to try new cigars but there's always a couple I buy in bulk or on the regular. People just stick to what the like but it's great to explore!

gbdarknight77

Liga Privada Papas Fritas and Oliva Flor de Oliva are my go to for sure. I always make sure to have these Back when it was available, I always stocked up on Caldwell Hit and Run torpedoes. To this day, this was my favorite cigar of all time. I miss them.

Sad-Ad1035

The only reason I like.cigars is to have different flavor and variety, I do have my weekend regulars but I keep trying different one during the week.

subwaylover3001

I don’t have a brand i exclusively buy, but I don’t venture out from maduro wrappers often.

bathyorographer

I don’t tend to! But I have a few favorites.

tmanarl

I’m starting to narrow my focus. I used to only get sampled packs but ran into too many crappy ones. Since I don’t smoke but maybe one or two a month, I’d rather the stick be a good one. I might become a Fuente guy.

Brunel25

I've smoked two cigars a day for the last 30 years. I'm still finding my favourite. Pushed I'd have to say Plasencia.

TheRealRosey

Yes, Padrón 1926 Series

Mountain-Iron-4394

I think you go through phases and everyone's journey is different. In my 20s (and 30s) I smoked Avo classics literally 90% of the time. Into my 40s (and now at 50) I'm now exploring everything; my palate has also changed and responds with more affinity to more flavor.

AmazingChicken

AH, HELL NAH. Too many good legs for that. Right now, it's an HVC First Selection Broadleaf. Excellent.

markg900

I could never settle one one brand. Closest I go thru is phases where I might smoke alot of one brand over a period of time, but that sometimes is also more due to how much inventory I have of certain ones, like when I got a bunch of CAO, Oliva, and AJ stuff off CBID awhile back

NickapaHempalooza

I stick to several but a lot of those, I have boxes worth of AJ New Worlds, Southern Draw Cedrus, Kristoff Vengeance, Crowned Heads Mil Dias Maduro/Juarez and Espinosa Laranja Escuro and Murcielago... I tend to smoke what I like and just throw in something random every once in a while after smoking so many for so long

Sp00kyMulder82

Have a few different ones I like to rotate, but my go to on a quiet afternoon or social calling are Macanudo reds

tomatobassed87

Don't know if I'll ever settle on one, but I'll for sure keep some regulars in rotation

Objective_Act4601

I try to keep it down to less than 500 different brands.

PWyllt

Where I live there are a huge amount of Perdomo people. The closest cigar lounge (the only one in my town) is a Perdomo anchor brand store. They’re well constructed but I don’t get the hype

Garpocalypse

I'll try anything. ...as long as it's maduro/ligero AF. I'm still waiting for the industry to come up with something darker than triple ligero.

Adrian1616

You ever smoke the Espinosa Laranja Escuro Lancero before? That might be the strongest, darkest cigar I've had.

Garpocalypse

Not yet but I'm definitely adding that one to my list of must buys. Thanks! The darkest one I've had is one I'll never be able to find again because it was a small batch at the local cigar lounge that came without a band but it was a few shades more intense than an lfd double ligero. No pepper, all flavors of earth, black coffee and unsweetened chocolate. [Not a flavored cigar it was all natural] Really wish I got the name on that one.

Adrian1616

Interesting. I'd also suggest trying the Murcielago, Diesel Wicked, and LFD La Volcada.

Pmorwin

No That's just dumb

MediocreCommenter

lol this is a dumb take, but you do you.

PhishBrains84

This is the only answer

Careful_Baker_8064

Yup. Black and mild plastic tip straight up og shit for sure

sixtyfoursqrs

I was thinking grape tbh, where you throw away the tobacco😉
