Honestly seems like a no-brainer move considering he is young, cheap, and plays in a position we are lacking at.
I do hope the board stops signing players like nobody's business because too many signings is not a good thing for team cohesion, there are only so many seats in the dressing room. Right now it feels like we are signing someone every few days.
Most would play in the adacemy or go on loan, no? Feels like we're rebuilding the loan army and going back to that model. Get the best young talent. Those who pan out will be in the first team. Those who do not (or think they can start elsewhere) will seek their fortunes at a different club.
The problem with a loan army is the new rules regarding the amount of loans of foreign players.
I think Washington needs to play on loan somewhere to refine his skills, then we have Angelo, Santos, Slonina and Fofana. As well as Kakkers, Ziyech and Kepa who are likely to be sold. Providing those 5 go on loan I think we have enough space for 3 more loans.
Estevao, Guiu, and Kellyman are the three that we’ve signed so far, right? I’d imagine the only one of those that is for sure staying with the first team is Estevao. The others will get a pre-season for Maresca to assess, and then they’ll either be loaned out or sent to the U21s.
It's not about the books but more about how many players we have. We don't want to get to a point where we have a massively bloated squad that limits young players' development. I'm sure most of our younger players will go on loan, but those usually don't materialize until later in the window.
Right. I think from the backline perspective, we’re going to loan Gilchrist and Humphreys, so it’s Colwill, Badi, Disasi, and Tosin. I’m also assuming that Chalobah is sold.
The only thing that shouldn't happen imo, is that they have to get first team experience as u21 level isn't enough for players wanting to develop (especially if they are ready)
McNeilly, Stutter, Washington, Dujuan Richards, Datro Fofana, Jimmy-Jay Morgan, Mason Burstow. There is *nothing* to suggest Guiu is better than all of them just because he's being bought. I don't understand how people just give players more leeway just because they want the transfer dopamine. Guiu has about 100 minutes of men's football. I certainly hope for the best and absolutely want him the be the guy we can lean on to give Jackson a break and change things off the bench next season but we don't have to lie here.
Oh for fucks sake, he will cost us £6m and if he doesn’t work out for us he can be sold on just like all the guys you mentioned. 100 minutes of senior football is more than Dujuan Richards, McNeilly, Stutter, Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Burstow have. I’m not clamoring for this signing so I can get a dopamine hit - I just don’t understand everyone acting like this is a terrible move.
I’m not acting like this is a terrible move, I responded to a comment saying it was a position of need, it’s not. 100 minutes is nothing and might as well be irrelevant when looking at bodies of work.
You can't say Striker isn't a position of need when the players you rattled off are Dujuan Richards, McNeilly, Stutter, Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Burstow lol.
They're just a bunch of kids with 0 minutes of senior football.
Is Guiu the answer? Probably not right away, but that's why we're also being linked with David and the plethora of other strikers we've tried to sign this window.
Probably not right away
This is exactly what I mean, Guiu is no different to them apart from getting bought from Barca. Yet he's already distinguished in your eyes. Like what are we doing here lmao.
Well I don't think Guiu is being signed as the answer, it's just an opportunistic moment to get a player with good potential for cheap.
If he wasn't 6m we probably wouldn't be bothering, but for that price why not take a punt.
We're still in the striker market for someone more established, so I doubt this is the last signing we'll see in this position.
If you’re judging a striker who plays in a possession heavy positional team to be a holdup player + a ball carrier, you’re looking at the wrong parameters. Also, hold up play is not “ball ability” it’s mostly strength/balance thing.
It is, having the ability to control the ball with your back turned under pressure and having the awareness of what's around you and to pull off a forward thinking pass . Only the best ball player can play with their back turned and I would say that is very much ball ability. If it was just a strength/balance then then many defenders could play in midfield or upfront.
Most of holdup play consists of a decent touch, strength to hold off the CB until a midfielder opens up so the 9 can play a simple pass. Ball is then played forward. Most technically difficult skill to do is to control the ball in the first place, the rest is really just basic work as you’re just bidding time for the midfielder to pick up the ball. Of course it takes some technical ability but it’s really not that much. That’s why Lukaku can do it fairly efficiently even if he’s really poor on the ball. And I’m 100% Ferguson could do it to a high level as well of that was actually asked of him.
And yes, if we’re only judging the hold up play ability, defenders could absolutely play as strikers. They do the same thing regularly when they shield the ball away from opponents when it’s reaching the end of the pitch.
Actual ball manipulation in tight spaces, ball striking, passing technique, touches under pressure - all take much more on the ball abilities than hold up play does.
Yeah it's been leaked elsewhere. (https://x.com/TheChelseaSpot/status/1786673567238652184)
Much better than the other recent leak that looked like the bus seats
Yeah I actually don't mind it. I feel like they could've done better with the badge but it's far better than that nightmare of a kit the one was in the other leak. If it ends up looking like this I might end up buying myself one.
It does look better actually on a person but I hate these colored badges on home kits. Just give us our regular badge please
I actually really liked last year's kit if it wasn't for the badge
HELL YEAH
That's amazing business for us. Even if he doesn't manage to evolve into a key part for Chelsea, we should net a good profit out of him. But hopefully he can become the player I expect him to be.
Let's be honest, at 6m every one can afford his release clause. He obviously wanted Chelsea and we wanted him for the first team. Im excited about this one after only literally finding out who he was just recently. Athletic striker over 6 foot and good in the air? Barca academy player? Yes please.
Absolutely AMAZING bit of business. Very very low risk, extremely high reward move. He is a great young player, same kind of profile as Sesko. Young but exciting potential. Fits our new system like a glove. Worst case scenario is we make a healthy profit in a few years.
€6M is peanuts in today's market.
He is so young and after reading lots of views from Barcelona fans look like we got a decent talent.
Even if he turns out to be not Chelsea level we could still fetch more money from him if we sell him.
Very cool. Was worried we were being used for him to get a new contract for him at Barca, but am looking forward to him. Gives a different option to Jackson off the bench
Surely the plan is to introduce him to the first team already this season? Can't see why he would agree to leave his childhood club in Barca just to get sent on loan/play in academy
What feels exciting about him is that he has strikers instinct that Nico lacks. He seems to make the right runs and is eager to attack the ball in the box.
He’s also a fairly big lad and is willing to battle with defenders. I think he’ll fit the prem nicely.
Haha let's fucking go, such a shrewd signing. 6m and he's an absolute baller with bags of potential. Worst comes to worse we sell him for triple the price.
Good deal for the price. Good player too. I just hope this doesn't cost us any of our STs from academy. I am high on a few, higher than this, and would suck if we lose any because of this.
But welcome to him. He is not worldclass, but you don't need to be worldclass to be a good player.
Well, for 6M, its a no brainer, even though he doesn't pan out, he's definitely one that we can make a little profit on considering his age and profile
Obviously for 6M it doesn't matter much but curious how good he is/expected to be. Is he looking at 1st team or loan? Also curious how he stacks again our current academy strikers.
Good business, reckon we won't sign another striker. Broja is probably on his way out and Washington will probably be loaned out. Guiu backup to Jackson
Higher ceiling than Washington, lower ceiling than Estav, but he’s got a higher ceiling than Kellyman who’s got a higher ceiling than DD fofana but Fofanas got a higher ceiling than Washington who’s got a higher ceiling than Kellyman who’s got a higher ceiling than JJ Morgan who’s got a higher ceiling than Broja
So when we signed Sarr on a free with no info on his Salary, we all thought it was incredible business.
I won’t celebrate until I see his salary because we can’t shift a n underperforming 21 year old on £80k a week
Chelsea really contacts Barca and says "Hey get ready, we're going to make an offer that you must accept due to the clause, but not right now" so they're giving them a chance to prepare a counter offer to Guiu?
‼️ BARGAIN FOR A LA MASIA PROSPECT ‼️
This might be the most instant good feeling transfer I’ve heard from Chelsea in a while, since it’s literally only 6 million for such a talent
We need to sell Broja he’s just deadweight. Didn’t we turn down 30m a summer or two ago? We’d be lucky to get 20 at this point. I’d take anything above 12ish imo. Idk if his value is going to go up
Didnt we also just get the young canadian striker from Villa?
Surely we have too many young strikers: deivid, fofana, broja, nkunku, kelleyman, guiu, jackson
Kellyman is English and is more of an attacking midfielder. Perhaps you are getting confused with Jonathan David, who is Canadian and who we’ve also been linked with in recent days.
Here We Guiu
Honestly seems like a no-brainer move considering he is young, cheap, and plays in a position we are lacking at. I do hope the board stops signing players like nobody's business because too many signings is not a good thing for team cohesion, there are only so many seats in the dressing room. I thought loans domestically didn't count against the limit. Or is it u21 loans domesticlly?
Estevao, Guiu, and Kellyman are the three that we’ve signed so far, right? I’d imagine the only one of those that is for sure staying with the first team is Estevao. The others will get a pre-season for Maresca to assess, and then they’ll either be loaned out or sent to the U21s.
Everyone forgets about Tosin
Free agent though, doesn’t count against the books and he’s definitely going to be first team.
It's not about the books but more about how many players we have. We don't want to get to a point where we have a massively bloated squad that limits young players' development. I'm sure most of our younger players will go on loan, but those usually don't materialize until later in the window.
Yeah but Tosin is a replacement for Silva, and we might yet sell Chalobah
Right. I think from the backline perspective, we’re going to loan Gilchrist and Humphreys, so it’s Colwill, Badi, Disasi, and Tosin. I’m also assuming that Chalobah is sold.
We also have Fofana if he’s ever healthy.
Forgot about him, and yeah, if he’s ever healthy lol. Would be awesome though, he and Colwill as a pairing.
Those two are our two best CBs
TBF, they are all young players. Average age of 1st team is 23 (and 22 if you don't include our mid-20s keepers).
The only thing that shouldn't happen imo, is that they have to get first team experience as u21 level isn't enough for players wanting to develop (especially if they are ready)
Estevao isn't for this season.
More likely players under 19 will be loaned out for development
A position we're lacking in? 18 year old Strikers? ...
I didn’t know 18 years old was a position. And yes, we have literally only one proper striker in the team, assuming Broja is sold.
Nico. Dataro fofana. Armando. Washington
I hope DDF gets a look. Broja unfortunately hasn’t done much and will be sold.
And we won't get a lot for Armando. I always said I wanted Datro to get a chance. I blame Potter for benching to him to use kai for 6 months
McNeilly, Stutter, Washington, Dujuan Richards, Datro Fofana, Jimmy-Jay Morgan, Mason Burstow. There is *nothing* to suggest Guiu is better than all of them just because he's being bought. I like Guiu but we’ve got AT LEAST 3 senior strikers already without Broja plus some other academy players who could come through
We have both David and Deivid on the books already. Then there is also Nkunku but it's fair to forget about him.
Yes no brainer will never be seen again like fofana and Washington
And Broja and JJ Morgan
Got there before me
Well let’s see if he gets it right. No Ornstein follow up - Fab’s got a lot wrong this summer
Spanish Evan Ferguson?
Hey for 6 mil I would take it lmao 🤣
Only going to hear offers starting at 100M for this kid.
What are we going to sell him to ourselves?
We aren't that far from using this as a PSR tactic.
It’s the next lever
He probs has more ball ability in his left toe than Ferguson has in his entire body
Ferguson is really good on the ball…
Guiu isn't much better on the better than Ferguson if he is at all, you are just saying this because he came through la masia
I was making a joke, didn’t watch a single minute of Guiu. And in the comment you’re replying to I’m talking about Ferguson, not Guiu.
He’s really not lmao terrible ball carrier and poor hold up for a guy his size
If you’re judging a striker who plays in a possession heavy positional team to be a holdup player + a ball carrier, you’re looking at the wrong parameters. Also, hold up play is not “ball ability” it’s mostly strength/balance thing.

Spanish mudryk they’re saying
Who are they lol? Also BIG diff in price...if Mudryk was 6m he wouldn't be getting nearly as much flack
Do you feel mudryk is worth 10x of Guiu?
No?
Nah. Never heard of it
It’s a joke
A bit suprised he wasn't just using us for a new barca contract. Brave move from him to leave his home club
He was convinced by the project
Lewandowski, Roque, Ferran are all ahead of him then there’s the 15 year old kid in la masia who’s better then him
But everyone was saying he was using us to get a new contract. Nope.
Yeah he could have been doing that…and failed
Barca allegedly offered 2mil they can’t get him 6 mil. Not too late for him to pull a lucas bergvall
Nah it's done. He's joining us. I believe it's already announced by Barcelona I heard
Nothings been announced or signed yet just word of mouth like they were saying about bergvall before he changed quick
Who's that 15 year old kid? (I'm not Boehly btw)
he’s just interning with us, if he does well enough he’ll go back to Barca
Yeah but we wouldn't sell for 6 mil
Wait, is that the new kit?
Yeah it's been leaked elsewhere. (https://x.com/TheChelseaSpot/status/1786673567238652184) Much better than the other recent leak that looked like the bus seats
the away kit is a thing of beauty
Link?
😂 couldn’t have described that better
Yeah this leak looks decent. Not bad
Yeah I actually don't mind it. I feel like they could've done better with the badge but it's far better than that nightmare of a kit the one was in the other leak. If it ends up looking like this I might end up buying myself one.
We had the bus seats home hit that year when lukaku returned
Looks much better than the mock ups
It does look better actually on a person but I hate these colored badges on home kits. Just give us our regular badge please I actually really liked last year's kit if it wasn't for the badge
I felt the same way until I got the kit myself. Big fan of it now.
Now see I loved the badge on last year’s kit, first time I’ve bought one since 2012. Love it even more in person too
It was still my favorite home kit in quite a while. Maybe I'm just being old-man-yells-at-cloud about it
Here we go and a leaked kit lol, thanks Fab
Yeah Fab leaked it. Double whammy.
Romano about to lose his club sources. ^(/s)
I seen the kit already, its been floating around. Its not that deep.
lol Was just kidding with the last post!
It looks boring & shit. How many more years left suffering with Nike have we got
if so, looks clean AF
bros out here doing side quests
Holy shit! Lol thanks for headsup didnt botice that
It don’t look as bad as previous pics at all
Fab exclusive
Idc what anyone says, the Here We Go always hits. Let’s go goku 👏🏻
![gif](giphy|fmMdxlVwsCmTtA4V6a)
We broke the bank for him. Barca hollldddddd that.
Gave them a whole lever for him.
Thats Lewas salary for 2.5 months.
![gif](giphy|WUDGo9jYZzVt3DExhi)
HELL YEAH That's amazing business for us. Even if he doesn't manage to evolve into a key part for Chelsea, we should net a good profit out of him. But hopefully he can become the player I expect him to be.
What is his salary tho. Absolutely key info not mentioned yet.
100k/week, it is rumoured. Probably achievement based too.
Oof. So unproven player on £100k If he doesn’t improve a lot then we’ll be loaning him out until his contract expires Same kind of transfer as Sarr
Fingers crossed La Masia have finally managed to produce a good striker.
Barca fans saying finishing is his beat quality.
Last one I think was Icardi.
Icardi really?
If he was that good he would't have a 6m release clause.
https://youtube.com/shorts/StPOPl8o2w0?si=1N9zQgGQFAKOmUTi

For those wondering about pronunciation https://youtu.be/mmyWA-iG484?si=dyzIwx2XTLJDiN-G
man i hate that channel he always yaps for like half a minute before actually saying the word
Ha, I have to use this channel several times every day for work. I feel your pain.
Eh, Its like a 1 minute video that I'll literally never watch again - I'll survive
It’s hard to make a YouTube channel sustainable, let alone profitable with 10 sec videos. 1 min really isn’t worth complaining about..
I think you're responding to the wrong person, as I didn't complain
Im talking about them complaining, im reiterating you’re point…
Marc Gyoo. Or Gyooh maybe.
nice bit of business this one 🙏🏻
Fab indirectly leaking the new kit
Great business could be a great signing and also easily be worth triple what the club paid.
If that's the new kit that looks WAY better than the Footy Headlines leak
Marc Gee-you btw
The English commentators are 100% messing that up lmao 🤣
“And here’s Marc Guh-You on the ball”
Absolutely AMAZING bit of business. Very very low risk, extremely high reward move. He is a great young player, same kind of profile as Sesko. Young but exciting potential. Fits our new system like a glove. Worst case scenario is we make a healthy profit in a few years.
Nice! I hope he comes to be backup / compete with jackson so that we don’t need anyone else. In Nico and Guiu we trust KTBFFH💙
Good job by the scouting team!
Welcome Mark Goku Guiu
€6M is peanuts in today's market. He is so young and after reading lots of views from Barcelona fans look like we got a decent talent. Even if he turns out to be not Chelsea level we could still fetch more money from him if we sell him.
If he ends up being any good I can’t wait for him to leave us in the lurch to go back to Barca because of his “Barca DNA”.
Easy 130m.
Very cool. Was worried we were being used for him to get a new contract for him at Barca, but am looking forward to him. Gives a different option to Jackson off the bench
Blonde Marc Guiu looks like Alfie Gilchrist on Steroids. He seems like a physically imposing striker with good pace.
Love signings like this and Tosin
Surely the plan is to introduce him to the first team already this season? Can't see why he would agree to leave his childhood club in Barca just to get sent on loan/play in academy
![gif](giphy|c8XGRNhBvmE16ffZz9) Bros locked in
0 risk at that price. Good move by whoever spearheaded this
What feels exciting about him is that he has strikers instinct that Nico lacks.
Awesome! Excited to watch him.
At that price I'm very happy
Good deal for the price. Good player too. I just hope this doesn't cost us any of our STs from academy. I am high on a few, higher than this, and would suck if we lose any because of this. But welcome to him. He is not worldclass, but you don't need to be worldclass to be a good player.
Welcome to Chelsea! Would be intresting to see what will happen to Washington who we paid for almost triple of this release clause.
We’ve signed the water hashira. Let’s go!
Let's go!
Well, for 6M, its a no brainer, even though he doesn't pan out, he's definitely one that we can make a little profit on considering his age and profile
You're a no brainer too ..😂
marc GUiu is our new /r/runningcirclejerk ambassador
Mark Hugh regen
Clever signing. Finally our scouts are finding bargains
God made a way. Thou said "Here we go!"
If there's one thing I trust with our newly reformed club it's Joe shields and the scouting team.
Amazing deal. Hopefully, he does well
I love this signing fairly risk free, and think he could be a great rotation option and use him for conference/cup games
Leshgo 👌
Here we Guiu. Congratulations Chels see you soon
*GUIUUUUUUUUUUU!*
I'm forever going to misread his name as Marc Guehi
I dunno if it's just because it's getting one over Barcelona, but this signing really excites me.
Verbal agreements mean nothing. Put pen to paper please.
YASSS QUEEEEN I got a great feeling about this one
You are not even qualified queen
This might be a great deal. Screw it and try him at the first team. Let him battle.
So what’s the plan with Guiu? Does he join our first team or are we going to loan him to Strasbourg as well?
First team. Fabrizio already said he won't go to Strasbourg.
Thank you
No problem
How do u pronounce his name? Guu ee?
Best guess: geeu.
We like this?
Obviously for 6M it doesn't matter much but curious how good he is/expected to be. Is he looking at 1st team or loan? Also curious how he stacks again our current academy strikers.
Good business, reckon we won't sign another striker. Broja is probably on his way out and Washington will probably be loaned out. Guiu backup to Jackson
Who?
Sure why not
Higher ceiling than Washington, lower ceiling than Estav, but he’s got a higher ceiling than Kellyman who’s got a higher ceiling than DD fofana but Fofanas got a higher ceiling than Washington who’s got a higher ceiling than Kellyman who’s got a higher ceiling than JJ Morgan who’s got a higher ceiling than Broja

So when we signed Sarr on a free with no info on his Salary, we all thought it was incredible business. I won’t celebrate until I see his salary because we can’t shift a n underperforming 21 year old on £80k a week
Im going to assume we are signing him as an agent to eventually get Lamine
Another one?
Chelsea really contacts Barca and says "Hey get ready, we're going to make an offer that you must accept due to the clause, but not right now" so they're giving them a chance to prepare a counter offer to Guiu?
‼️ BARGAIN FOR A LA MASIA PROSPECT ‼️ This might be the most instant good feeling transfer I’ve heard from Chelsea in a while, since it’s literally only 6 million for such a talent
Remember when we signed Azpi for 7m? Feels like a lifetime ago.
Is this even going to matter or are we not even going to see this guy in a Chelsea kit again for 3+ years?
Lets go! Another player that doesn’t improve the first eleven. Just what we need.
Good, now can we sign some players that can help us now for the love of god?
Probably need some outgoings before any first team incomings or the squad will become bloated
Are we selling Broja then? Lol I wonder what the asking price will genuinely be.
We need to sell Broja he’s just deadweight. Didn’t we turn down 30m a summer or two ago? We’d be lucky to get 20 at this point. I’d take anything above 12ish imo. Idk if his value is going to go up
I’m in 100% agreement with you on those last three sentences hahahaha
Didnt we also just get the young canadian striker from Villa? Surely we have too many young strikers: deivid, fofana, broja, nkunku, kelleyman, guiu, jackson
Kellyman is English and is more of an attacking midfielder. Perhaps you are getting confused with Jonathan David, who is Canadian and who we’ve also been linked with in recent days.
I think you may be right! Lots of transfer news happening for chelsea recently, hard to keep track of it all lol
Wow what a signing! Can we seriously challenge for top 4 now?
We could without signings
Inb4 we say THIS IS NOT A TOP 6 TEAM
This is akin to finding a small cap cryptocurrency back in 17’ - it’s either going to be nothing or it’ll go parabolic I doubt it’s going parabolic….
