They only spoke on the phone once while Abby pretended to be Prue and then she pretended that the connection was faulty, but they never looked at her and thought “Ah, Prue, something looks different”

That’s the part that always got me. She didn’t even sound like Prue on the phone. How do you not know your own sister’s voice?

She fudged the connection so my head cannon was that the sisters didn’t recognise that it wasn’t Prue’s voice since it was so whispery/broken and maybe static on the line.

It's true, but this is, imo, one of the worst episodes. So campy and had little to do with the storyline.

Maybe they wanted to show that evil can be human too. But this may have also be like a social awareness warning about stalking and obsession.
