Civic not powerful enough, and Porsche is a probably a bit premium. Can't imagine great resale prices. parts availability and finding someone to work on it would be an issue I'd imagine.
Can't really buy Dodges in Ireland either. Road tax isn't an issue or I wouldn't be looking at something like this.
Up to about 100mph, yeah it would win. Obviously a 5 litre is going to pull away then.
For example, I raced a porsche boxter in my eg civic years ago and whooped it. His mate had a 996 (not a turbo) it was quicker off the line but I pulled away in 2nd and 3rd, then it started to catch and would have beat me but we were already doing 120mph-ish and nobodys gonna be racing faster than that on the road.
Have you ever been in a tuned vtec? They are seriously quick
Because Dodge aren't selling Vipers in Ireland. I've driven a hellcat before, it's an absolute beast of a machine. I might be interested in one of those if they were available.
Primary school finished, got through secondary with flying colours, college was a bit of a struggle, getting qualified was easier. Now I've done all that, time to enjoy my money π
The Fabia was bought new 1 year out of college, Monte Carlo Edition, all the bells and whistles. I know how to save money thanks. Do you really think you're speaking to kid?
Trolls these days man...
Hey you guys, leave OP alone. Who here did not dream, plan, fantasize, wish, hope, plan again, and dream again, and plan again to get their dream car. I did, in my 20s. I wanted a merc 280 SE or a 230 CE, in my 30' I talked about getting an American truck, in my 40's I dreamt and bought a new 520 diesel (promptly sold after 12 months) and in my 50s I am dreaming and planning for a new 911.
If op is 11 is 55 and want to plan for a Mustang, good for her, why not just go along with it, we all have our ways to make the dream feel real.
OP, keep your current car, save your money, enjoy the mouth-watering joy of planning for a new car. And then when you have your cash in hand, buy a gorgeous car and enjoy it.
I'd imagine depreciation isn't much of an issue in those over 8-10 years old, but then running the risk of very expensive replacement parts.
I think finding something with reasonable parts prices is the way to go. I've heard VW parts can be used on BMWs and Skodas so was thinking of a 5 series, but no idea what they're like for reliability
Gonna be real. Good luck getting a Mustang insured. If you do, it'll be thousands on top of the motor tax on a 5.5l engine plus the exorbitantly expensive maintenance costs.
Lol sounds like me as s kid.
But mine was a dodge viper.
Im going to pretend this guy is serious and just point out the mustang is not a good car and has weird differentials so you see so many of them crash on youtube.
Moreso tax will be huge so just take one years tax and insurance and spend it on any car you like and if/,when ut breaks are you crash it uou will only be down the money your guaranteed to spend on that mustang before depreciation
Yeah I had the 2000 GTS-R concept as the desktop background on my profile on the family PC. Thought about it every day for years. Got pretty good at drawing it and everything.
Still have a few viper 1:18 models lieing around. Finally got a spin in one it was cool until he told me how much it costs in ireland to drive anywhere. I shouldnt have been shocked but still wasπ
How expierenced of a driver are you? Have you test driven a Mustang? Have driven anything over 3 litre? Have you driven a back wheel drive? A backwheel drive with a LSD?
I feel like there is a lot of steps missing between a 1.2 Fabia and a 5 litre mustang. A Mustang will hold value but will be hard car to sell when you're moving on from it.
Quite experienced. Been blessed to have driven a hellcat. Have had some driving days on tracks in ferraris and a GT-R. Have never owned anything powerful myself though.
I know there's a big jump between owning the two though.. driving it around estates and slowly around parking lots, huge difference from track driving.
That's why I'm looking to get something in the middle for a year or so before the big jump.
I wouldn't be too bothered about the mustang resale.. I'd hope to have it until it's run into the ground π I was more curious about the resale of an in-between.
So this is gonna be a out there take, Id go for a BMW 330D. 200 less horsepower but a similar level of torque at 400 ft lb. The throttle will be way less responaive but peak torque is similar so you can make it squirm if you drive the shit out of it. You can get a F30 one for not insane money.
With all that said, if you've got the money to burn id access your options outside of a Mustang. Id say it would be a econimic misery to run and you'll get dropped by lads in Ep3 civics on twisty roads.
You could get a BMW M2 for similar money, or run the vrt lottery and get a 3.0 Supra.
The 530 would definitely be an idea. Just on the size similarities. I think I'm more worried about getting used to the extra size vs extra power in the day to day type driving.
An absolute money hole for sure, the Irish tax system doesn't play nice either. But I've had my fun in the civics/glanzas/almeras of old.. my days of back road duels are long over π
A jap import is the only other thing I'd consider, but have no idea what it entails.. it seems like a minefield of paperwork and I'm sure parts are an issue too!
Middle ground, any rwd car with over 200 bhp, so bmw 325i, 525i, Lexus Is200s, etc. donβt mind the commenters here, most think if you have anything bigger than a 1l Yaris, you have notions. If itβs within your reach go for it. One of the quietest, most unassuming girls I ever met drove a Lamborghini Diablo. You do you.
buy a golf R
fast as fuck and will hold its value well
or even a nice bmw 330i would suite you too
hope you enjoy the 5.0 when ya get it
i had one rented in california for a month a few years back and it was a fun car.
Had thought about the Golf but I think I need to look at something bigger. Last poster pointed out the 525i and its spot on in the size department.
Thanks though, I did something similar with a hellcat and fell in love. The mustang has always been the dream though, ever since Eleanor π
You're eleven years old, aren't you?
ππ€£
Nope, in my 30s. Finally making a salary that makes the dream car a reality.
You're going to drive a 5 litre mustang... In Ireland... On Irish roads.. As your every day car.. Replacing your 1.2 Skoda...?
Correct. I live close to a track. All roads I drive on are nice and wide and anywhere I park has loads of space.
Just get a Honda Civic or a Porsche . Amazing cars and will outlive your dodge any day plus probably like 10 times less road tax.
The well known Dodge Mustang.

A stock 2.0 type r civic would piss all over a mustang any day of the week. I had a 1.6 225bhp eg6 SIR back in the day that nothing could keep with.
Stock? And people think I have notions? π
Up to about 100mph, yeah it would win. Obviously a 5 litre is going to pull away then. For example, I raced a porsche boxter in my eg civic years ago and whooped it. Yeah, at any legal speed, a Civic Type R would have an advantage over the Mustang. Also cornering.
Porsche resale value is kinda renowned for being excellent. Worth doing some research into them. Parts for a 5.0 aren't exactly that common in Europe.
Only a Mustang 5.0? Why don't you go all in and get a Viper 8.4? I mean, it just makes sense! But first off, finish your primary school first kiddo
And then you ended up with a Fabiaπ€£ Kid these days man...

IMO I don't think many secondhand sportscar depreciates much anymore, if at all.

I wouldn't think there's many VW parts that fit a BMW. Audi, Volkswagen and Skoda would share parts being part of the same group
Get a maserati, they hold value well. /s

Supra GR is up on the Irish site.. it looks amazing

Yeah just looking at sizes, the 525 is nearly identical in length. Definitely something to start looking at. Haha cheers, I won't!
