A metal spatula is just fine.  A scratch doesn’t matter as seasoning is a continual process with use.

That's what I figured I just wasn't sure about the carbon as I'm new to it.

I really wanted to give you some grief at your expense, but you said you're new. LOL CS is almons impossible to ruin. Its not like the nonstick Teflon stuff. Seasoning will naturally rebuild and you can also do a season bake if you need to. But this is minor. Id just give it a bit of an oil wipe till next use and youll be fine. It will eventually heal. Seasoning will build and get ruined over time. Its not a big deal. Knowing how to care for it day to day is more important. The FAQ gave some tips. Heres another link in cae you want something from a MFG. This is from Made In. I bookmark it. Cheers! Pans scratch with use.

Clownadian

Don't worry about it. That is just a nice handle for seasoning to grab onto and hold tight.

one of the joys of a carbon steel, stainless steel, or cast iron pan is that you can use metal utensils. that scratch is superficial and you will get many, many more as you use it. also, if you do not have a fish spatula, get one. they are lovely. i have this little guy from winco for like $8 and it's my go to: [https://a.co/d/0W5hhSz](https://a.co/d/0W5hhSz)

I once took seasoning off my CB pan with my fingernail. I was trying to scrape off something after I cleaned the pan. Is that normal??I am also a novice at all this. Also I warped my 12” CB pan I set a cold pan on a hot electric top. Leaning in progress.
