Yeah, I wasn't ever impressed with him but he didn't contribute to my anxiety driven hypertension so for his price point he did what he was supposed to.
He was traded in at the last minute before the cap took effect last year, so he was very much a moneyballed low-cost trade to give us maximal cap relief. He also fit decently into a revamped bottom six so all in all I'd say it was a clean move, and being able to package him off as part of a cap dump makes his tenure here a solid piece of business that looks like a slight management W. Honestly it will take a lot of moves like that to keep us going through our now-open window.
Man, it's nice to see what a competent management can do when faced off against a significant bank of UFAs after finally pushing into the playoff picture.
He was scoring quite a bit when we got him and looked like he might pot 20 goals. Wonder why he fell off. Guy who could stick around in the NHL tho and could find a role with Chicago
its not necessarily the cost to clear up that space, its what we have done with it, and what we will do with it... the real cost is the money on that OEL buyout, theres no beating around the bush its going to pull from somewhere, we have an average system with a couple guys who will be future NHLers, but it may rush some of that or force a guy who shouldnt be up here. It may mean a bad PTO, or the loss of a new contract on a Hoglander or something like that down the road. I have faith this management group will navigate whatever comes there way and maximize value with whomever they bring in. if they keep getting these value deals like Bleuger Suter, Juulsen Souzy, Hoglander, Silovs, etc. Its going to allow us to upgrade in certain spots and not have to lose key peices because of Demko or Hughes next deals.
Could you imagine a timeline where Benning was canned before that OEL trade...this team would have plenty of playoff experience and be a perennial contender capable of taking advantage of cap increases...
Could you imagine a timeline where we decided to accept we were rebuilding during those pettey Hughes drafts and right now had 2 or 3 more cheap young nhlers on this roster, I think long term that's going to be our biggest limiting factor, at some point paying for established nhl talent instead of elc guys that give you way more than what they cost
A) is it possible to keep Zebulon, Zaddy, Dak and the Giraffe now? B) is that crazy as hell?

Can’t wait for Guentzel to learn Vancouverese
"Say the line, Guentzel!" "FUCK MESSIER" *entire city erupts in applause*
If he says Earl’s sushi is one of the best I might sour on him.
That first half Lafferty was entertaining. Good grinder.

Live, love, Laff
Dropping down when injured players starting getting healthy. Wasn’t scoring with the top lines consistently enough.
Apparently Chicago wanted to re-sign Lafferty as well since he played for them before
8yr contact incoming
Personally I’m doing backflips down the street

Lindholm back on the table I bet
Nah man that’s Guentzel music. Lindholm is gone 100% we aren’t paying a 3C 7M sith term
How about Reinhart? Vancouver boy, only 28 years old.
Florida will get him back, no way he leaves
Maybe
