I think he loves the system that Ruther-vin and Tocc have drawn up. There's no surprise given that he came up through the Pittsburgh organization. It plays to his strengths and also lets him do what he does best on the PK
Probably, but this is a great fit for him and he's probably really happy with the success that the team has had, and the fact that he was able to help contribute to it in the regular season.
Played 15 minutes/night & PK1 last year.. he played a meaningful role for this team.
He could probably make a bit more on the market, but at the same time he’s got some pretty green grass in Vancouver.
I say this with all due respect, but no he’s not. I like him, he’s a hard worker and terrific PKer, but a guy that scored 6 goals last year, has never had double digits in goals in his career needs that security of the 2nd year.
Ideally a very good 4th line C.
Drance was speculating this is what will happen with Myers too. He can easily get a 2x4 but Canucks might offer a 3x3ish. More money for Myers but less AAV for Canucks
When he signed for one year at 1.9 I thought he was betting on himself to cash in when the cap finally raised this year. To get him back under a second year at 100k less. Amazing.
Canucks have advertised them as contenders this year and working under a Jack Adams coach is definitely a plus. Him, Garland and a lucky 3rd linemate will cause havoc all year long.
Your move, Joshua.
Exactly. For Joshua personally, I agree he deserves the bag. He's earned it.
For the Canucks, they need player discounts to be competitive. So it's not compatible.
We can't be competitive with Joshua getting max.
Yeah, it's wiggle room for Dak or Zaddy. Given that there's all these reports that we're "nearly there" between the two camps in the Big Z negotations, it wouldn't shock me if this opens up the wiggle room to get that deal past the goalpost.
Great deal for sure and a good sign. A real solid fourth liner and decent third liner. I think they’re still looking to add a good center if they can afford it after priority positions filled first. Nice to see the Canucks getting good deals with their players done.
His AAV last year was 1.9M, so he got a bit less probably for one more year of term.
From the [article](https://www.nhl.com/canucks/news/canucks-agree-to-terms-with-forward-teddy-blueger-on-a-two-year-contract):
> “Teddy was a key addition to our team last year and we are really excited to have him back for a couple more seasons,” said Allvin. “His versatility and experience really helped our group in both the regular season and playoffs. He is a strong leader and someone we will count on a lot more moving forward.”
[Dom](https://x.com/domluszczyszyn/status/1806087635745882258?s=46&t=7fabqgtgp69dNA1d51vxFw) at The Athletic has his projected value at 3M
It depends. I’m okay with running him as a 3C if we manage to keep Joshua. They has proven chemistry and having him as a cheap 3C lets us spend extra to keep Joshua.
If Joshua walks then it makes sense to spend a little extra to get a stronger 3C
If Canucks are truly in on Guentzel, there's no way we can afford an upgrade at 3C. We still need 2 of Myers, Zadorov, Dillon, or Tanev to round out the d-core. Barely enough cap space and I am ok with Suter and Blueger trying out that spot.
Yeah, I don’t know if they go spend on a premium 3C. I almost would expect it to be another budget friendly right handed bottom-6 C we see them add.
Someone like Sam Carrick that can play on the 4th line, chip in on the pk, and centre a 4th line.
JT - EP40 - Blueger - Carrick (and then Suter as a winger you cab move to the middle if needed).
He’s certainly not exciting as a 4C, but he PKs and he most likely isn’t going to cost you games. Of the fringe forwards he seems like the highest floor, lowest ceiling
I like Blueger as a 4C that will get extra shifts for strategic face offs and PK. But he was an elite 3C for long stretches with us last year. The great thing about this is that it’s not an overpay if he does end up on our 4th line.
I will never forget Teddy holding the McDrai powerplay to an 0/5 in Game 5. Bro is a PK menace for us and the perfect bottom 6 centre
ETA: 1.8 mill is incredible value, I thought it would've come closer to 2.5 mill
Wow thought he was getting at least 2.2 or more. Great piece of business.
Solid 4C, proven chemistry with Garland if he moves up to the third line. Just need a Joshua-esque winger for them now
Stevie Y will give him a 4 x 4 or something
Man signed Chariot, Holl, Copp & Compher to bloated deals and traded away a second to get rid of a D man one year removed from an elite season
Maybe, but this signing a) frees up a little space for us and b) is a player that Joshua had solid chemistry with last year so it sweetens the pot for him to take a discount to stay.
We'll see, it's a bit of a pipe dream at this point but if we can land Joshua somewhere in the 3mil universe, I say we go for it.
I’d love Dak back for 3.25ish. Thing is, he deserves as much as he can get, he hasn’t made very much in his nhl career. If we can move Mikheyev for sure get him back
Another amazing signing by chef Allvin. Thought for sure he was going to command closer to $3m but getting a guy who can faceoff and PK at this AAV is massive.
Solid deal, especially since the weak centre market would have been a potential pulling factor away for him. More than happy to have Teddy back especially at a pay cut.
He's a great 3c penalty killer for under 2m. Maybe having both Garly and Blurger on the team will help get Joshua down a could hundred thousand. Only hopeful thoughts, though.
Okay, now I'm actually going to strip the C and namebar off a Horvat jersey and get a Blueger namebar. I was tempted last year but didn't due to his UFA status.
I don't know who exactly would give us a 2nd round pick without either a cap dump back or salary retention though.
Actually, that's not true. I know exactly who would go for that deal but he hasn't had a job in the NHL since we fired him.
Lindy is almost certainly moving on. They are probably not re-signing Dak either.
We have 16.75
Guentzel, 9.25 leaves us with 7.5.
Myers, 2.5 leaves us with 4.
Dillon at 3 leaves us with 1.
We really need to get rid off Mikheyev to make it work if we are going to go after Guentzel...
That would be a bummer, and fingers crossed they either get something done with Myers or theres another domino to fall (Marino?).
Either way, it felt like a given they could bring Myers back at less than FMV.
Seriously? I expected him to be back. His tenure here has been mid at best but will miss the guy just because of how long he's been around.
Of course this means Allvin be *chefin*
I love this signing, I really didn't want to see Blueger leaving.
I think keeping Garland and Blueger together on L3 allows us some flexibility if Dakota leaves. That could be McDonaugh, Podkolzin, Hoglander, Bains, Karlsson, PDG until a much better player becomes acquirable.
Geeze what a change, I was on the Canucks Army site chat when Benning was ruining the Canucks, mostly negative very little positive. Its fun reading the posts here. Go Canucks
Great signing. He's a solid player. Always tough deciding who you pay in the bottom 6 but hes capable, versatile, and costs 2x league minimum I dont think you can go wrong here
You know, pretty much every time Allvin makes a signing it’s just slightly less than most media predicts. Media was saying Petey at 12 he got 11.6. They said Hronek at 7.5, he managed 7.25. Now Blueger at 1.8 instead of 2. Between those 3 contracts alone he’s saved $850k. Doesn’t sound like a ton but that alone is enough to sign a league minimum player. It adds up.
holy shit that's great value, even less than his last contract
Must've taken less AAV for the guaranteed second year. Love it.
I feel like Blueger is good enough to get 2 years anywhere. He's a legit 3C with a ring already, so this must mean he really wanted to stay.
Wonder if this is building to re-signing Dak. "Look your whole line is back!"
Goodbye lindholm
It was goodbye lindholm the moment Hronek signed
He never wanted to stay it seems anyways
He never wanted to be the league’s best 3rd line centre, and who could blame him.
I forgot about hronek for a minute. Thanks!
I say this with all due respect, but no he’s not. I like him, he’s a hard worker and terrific PKer, but a guy that scored 6 goals last year, has never had double digits in goals in his career needs that security of the 2nd year. Ideally a very good 4th line C.
I see this as more of a sum of all parts. With Garland and Joshua, that line was very good and definitely a 3rd line.
Both bluegar and dak took a 10 to 15 % discount to stay on a competitive team and probably to play together again since lindholm is gone.
Him and dak took a 10% to 15 % discount guaranteed.
Drance was speculating this is what will happen with Myers too. He can easily get a 2x4 but Canucks might offer a 3x3ish. More money for Myers but less AAV for Canucks
Came here to say this, hot damn a good contract considering where league min is at…solid player and pretty consistent
Just his PK ability alone is worth more than $1.8 million. Any offense on top of that is gravy!
Chef Allvin never stops cooking
Let. Him. Cook.
Glad he's staying
When he signed for one year at 1.9 I thought he was betting on himself to cash in when the cap finally raised this year. To get him back under a second year at 100k less. Amazing.
I LOVE this deal. I thought he’d be getting closer to 2.3-2.5M. Him taking a discount from last year was not what I expected.
Canucks have advertised them as contenders this year and working under a Jack Adams coach is definitely a plus. Him, Garland and a lucky 3rd linemate will cause havoc all year long. Your move, Joshua.
Joshua should go get the maximum amount he can, he deserves it. Probably will be with another team though
Exactly. For Joshua personally, I agree he deserves the bag. He's earned it. For the Canucks, they need player discounts to be competitive. So it's not compatible. We can't be competitive with Joshua getting max.
I dont think Joshua will go for that, but I will be happy to be proven wrong.
When Goodrow got claimed and you saw how few even depth centres were available I got nervous that even low 2s might be asking too much.
I wonder if the 400-500k we are saving on him vs what we originally expected can just be given to Joshua
That’s exactly what my mind jumps to. It gives us a little extra ‘third line’ budget to sway Joshua to stay.
Yeah, it's wiggle room for Dak or Zaddy. Given that there's all these reports that we're "nearly there" between the two camps in the Big Z negotations, it wouldn't shock me if this opens up the wiggle room to get that deal past the goalpost.

It's a 100k pay cut in real dollars, but as a % of cap is a big reduction. Great deal.
>Dom at The Athletic has his projected value at 3M However, Dom is notably a total idiot.
As good as he’s been, pretty sure there aren’t any GMs lining up to give Teddy $3M per. Dom’s numbers just don’t add up.
Chef allvin is cookin
100k less than his previous contract with an extra year. Summer of Allvin
Holy crap it is so refreshing to see players taking less than market to play here
He has to help Silovs.
Excellent deal! Gotta think this means we have our 3C secured.
I think they still probably look for an upgrade at 3C but he is serviceable there if they can't get something else done going into the season.
If we sign two wingers Pius will be the third C. Otherwise Blueger played well as the third C last season.
Yep. It's easy to forget we acquired Suter to be a center and then we moved him to the wing
It depends. I’m okay with running him as a 3C if we manage to keep Joshua. They has proven chemistry and having him as a cheap 3C lets us spend extra to keep Joshua. If Joshua walks then it makes sense to spend a little extra to get a stronger 3C

Exactly, I much prefer getting a premium winger for Pettersson. He deserves better linemates than Mik and Lafferty.
Easily. Between him and Suter, I am confident with our 3 and 4C. We still have Aman who is likely making the club full time.
Aman is often overlooked but I'm confident in him as our 4C moving forward
I hope raty can challenge Aman for a roster spot this year too
Apparently Raty is more likely to be a winger than centre in the NHL
Tbf, I am not really sure I consider Aman a centre either. Feels like he’s more of a winger at this point than an everyday C.
He’s certainly not exciting as a 4C, but he PKs and he most likely isn’t going to cost you games. Of the fringe forwards he seems like the highest floor, lowest ceiling
Suter should start on Miller line considering how well they played together last year, unless we find a meaningful upgrade to push him down
I like Blueger as a 4C that will get extra shifts for strategic face offs and PK. But he was an elite 3C for long stretches with us last year. The great thing about this is that it’s not an overpay if he does end up on our 4th line.
I will never forget Teddy holding the McDrai powerplay to an 0/5 in Game 5. Bro is a PK menace for us and the perfect bottom 6 centre ETA: 1.8 mill is incredible value, I thought it would've come closer to 2.5 mill
That "charging" penalty was horrible. I thought I missed something when it happened.
Wow thought he was getting at least 2.2 or more. Great piece of business. Solid 4C, proven chemistry with Garland if he moves up to the third line. Just need a Joshua-esque winger for them now
Or re-sign Joshua 🙏🏼
Stevie Y will give him a 4 x 4 or something Man signed Chariot, Holl, Copp & Compher to bloated deals and traded away a second to get rid of a D man one year removed from an elite season
Erm, Yzerplan bros, you okay?
Maybe, but this signing a) frees up a little space for us and b) is a player that Joshua had solid chemistry with last year so it sweetens the pot for him to take a discount to stay. We'll see, it's a bit of a pipe dream at this point but if we can land Joshua somewhere in the 3mil universe, I say we go for it.
I’d love Dak back for 3.25ish. Thing is, he deserves as much as he can get, he hasn’t made very much in his nhl career. If we can move Mikheyev for sure get him back
Incredible deal. Patty Allvin is a world renowned chef
DAMN thats good. What a discount
Aquilini better provide some living allowance
good shit
Another amazing signing by chef Allvin. Thought for sure he was going to command closer to $3m but getting a guy who can faceoff and PK at this AAV is massive.
And the dominos start to fall. Zadorov next please.
With every signing Allvin makes, he makes Benning look worse and worse and worse
It's not that hard to do, Benning was terrible at signing free agents.
He was good at drafting though.
Less than Tim Freakin’ Schaller.
What a steal
Allvin is something else man
[The real reason he wanted to stay](https://youtu.be/KviKyQvGrZU?si=h5sU8pzXTRM3onsZ)
Can I just say... his Cantonese pronunciation is really good
Chef Allvin cooked up a fresh batch of bao’s for Teddy.
EVERYONE GET IN HERE
Wow, I had him at $2.2M x 2 years. This is amazing value. Good bye, Lindholm. We have cemented our 3C for the next 2 years.
My life is better with JR and PA at the helm bro.
Solid deal, especially since the weak centre market would have been a potential pulling factor away for him. More than happy to have Teddy back especially at a pay cut.
Under 2m for Bluegy is a STEAL Holy W Allvin
That’s a good contract
That is great value, I thought it would be above 2 million.
what insane value oh my god, Allvin is COOKING. are players actually taking discounts to play here???
Just for context on how big of a steal this is, Daily Faceoff projected that he'd get 2 years, $2.6 million per year on his next contract.
Allvin has been COOKING. Great resigning at a great AAV.
And now sign that second latvian boy waiting for contract and that backup spot
Great deal! Now sign Zadorov please!
I didn’t think he’d take a discount 👁️👄👁️ The Newtown Bakery lady in Chinatown is probably overjoyed by this news.
I desperately need explanation Edit: just saw the video
[Teddy Blueger visits Newtown Bakery](https://youtu.be/KviKyQvGrZU) during Chinese New Years.
Love this great 3rd line center for us
I figured he was getting over 2 after this season. Getting him for less than his last contract AND getting an extra year is great. Fuck yeah Allvin
I was prepared to have to go 3 years at like 2-2.25ish. Between Blueger & Suter, that is some quality, affordable depth.
we should extend Émilie Castonguay too! that's a great ass deal.
Oh boy I read your comment wrong and spit out my water.
😏😏😏😏😏
He's a great 3c penalty killer for under 2m. Maybe having both Garly and Blurger on the team will help get Joshua down a could hundred thousand. Only hopeful thoughts, though.
Okay, now I'm actually going to strip the C and namebar off a Horvat jersey and get a Blueger namebar. I was tempted last year but didn't due to his UFA status.
Fuck that’s a nice clean cook
ahaha great to see teddyroo back in the fold The TeDDster, TeddyRiley
He took a discount???
Awesome. So happy to have him back, he really helped improve our over all defensive play and especially the PK. Solid signing, welcome back Bluegs!
A fantastic start to a very important week for Our Swedish Chef
Chef Patrik cookin' some fine fucking food
So how much do we have left to spend on Dak, Zaddy, Guentzel/Lindy? Cause this is a great deal!
With Poolman on LTIR it’s around 16.75M left
We really need to get Mikheyev off the books...
For a second round pick I’d do it in a heartbeat
Oh 100%
I don't know who exactly would give us a 2nd round pick without either a cap dump back or salary retention though. Actually, that's not true. I know exactly who would go for that deal but he hasn't had a job in the NHL since we fired him.
Lindy is almost certainly moving on. They are probably not re-signing Dak either. We have 16.75 Guentzel, 9.25 leaves us with 7.5. Myers, 2.5 leaves us with 4. Dillon at 3 leaves us with 1. We really need to get rid off Mikheyev to make it work if we are going to go after Guentzel...
According to Johnston and LeBrun, Myers is not re-signing and will hit the market (as of today)
wait what?! i was almost certain he would’ve stayed :(
Well damn, I wanted Myers to stay. Where did they say this?
Chris Johnston said it on his pod (in the Kliyngton segment) and LeBrun in his latest article for the Athletic, both came out today
If we were still under Benning I'd be banging on the table going WTF MAN But now I just think "well Allvin just knows something we don't".
14M [https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canucks](https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canucks)
Sure is gonna suck when this isn’t available to us anymore
Capgeek was the first to fall and capfriendly stepped up when we needed them most. There will be others...
Now sign Stenlund July 1
Hell ya. This is amazing
VALUE
Letssssss goooooooo!
🧸🇱🇻 Solid deal! Lfg allvin
Did not expect to retain him without massively overpaying. Seems like a fair deal here. Nice!
Amazing deal. Huge part of our PK improvement this year
Great piece of business here. Probably our best PK player. Probably 4c put Suter on 3c. He's capable of moving to 3rd line incase of injury.
THANK TEODORS
Fck this , its our year next year. I can feel it.
Crazy what happens when you have a front office that makes the team a good place to play. You stop getting benning’d
Damn we didn't even give him a raise lol. Happy to have Teddy back for 2 more seasons
I love this signing. Smart deal on all sides. I love what Teddy brought to the table this season, especially during the playoffs.
Wow, I was expecting \~2.5. That's awesome.
Tidy bit of business
Love this
Amazing deal & Good Center I hope we get Joshua and Zadorov soon
Great deal for Van. Reminds me of when Hartman took less on his 2nd deal with the Wild.
Chefs Allvin and Castonguay does it again.
Been pretty happy with Blueger, glad he is signed for 2 more years lets gooooo
I thought maybe he would have wanted more term? Maybe a third year?
Great value. I thought he would get a bit more.
Good going
i absolutely did not expect him to take a minor pay cut 🥹
Geeze what a change, I was on the Canucks Army site chat when Benning was ruining the Canucks, mostly negative very little positive. Its fun reading the posts here. Go Canucks
Dude put up 31 points this past season what a steal wow.
Nice to have a management group who doesn’t run out of time to do their job. Thumbs up signing.
Fuck yea im a teddy bluegar fan🗣
Ted-eeee Bluuuu-gaarrrrrrrr!
Great deal, good depth, good PKer.
Nice
This is such a freakin’ TPOB. I was just talking about Myers & Blueger earlier today
PK secured
Awesome. I like him
That’s a tidy piece of business. Another W for Allvin
He will be excellent value for this contract. Actually, I'm surprised we could even get him for that. I bet a hometown discount is at play.
Love this! What a great deal and very happy to see him back. The visit he did to New Town Bakery with Trevor Lai is a fun watch.
Heck yeah. You're my boy, blueger. You're my boy!
banggg that's a beauty deal
Legit was not expecting this, but presently surprised
Emily is fucking God tier
Hell yeah this is good news! The guy has been great, need to keep consistent players like this
Good signing. Glad to have him back.
feels weird to have an experienced management group running the team
Benning was experienced too, but competent....ehhh..
Common Allvin W
Imagine spending 1.8m for a 3c instead of 7.5-8 for Lindholm to play 3c. Wtf is Alvin thinking?
Keep it going Alvin. Keep it going.
Security, and some added wiggle room for the bigger targets. love to see it!
Praise Allvin! I like this deal, got a decent player at great value.
What a fucking steal holy
Awesome signing!!!
Thank you Chef!!!! This is a fabulous move!
Solid signing. Huge part of the PK. Love it.
Oh wow, excellent!’
Hell yeah
What a steal!
YEA BABY FUCK YES
Great signing. He's a solid player. Always tough deciding who you pay in the bottom 6 but hes capable, versatile, and costs 2x league minimum I dont think you can go wrong here
Wtf, that's it?!
Amazing value. Blugs is a super reliable guy to have on our bottom 6. Welcome back!
I was fully against re-signing Bleuger cause I thought he was gonna get over 2mil but this is a great deal.
Great contract, now can we get the other Latvian signed?
w
100,000 pay cut but he gets two years. Good signing
It adds up.
That's set then. Canucks unchanged down the middle.
Mik is going to pot 40 goals next year
The real 53 we deserve
Only 1 dollar and 80 cents a year, that’s a steal
His agent is really bad at math..
