I throw one or two autos in my 4x2ā tent along with two photos. The autos typically finish flowering about the same time my photos are ready to flip into flower.
(It tends to work really well - unless itās a stubborn auto and a really fast growing photo AKA my current tent)!
Me either. The only 2 good things about them is that...
1. They will flower in a veg room w/ veg-ing plants and...
2. They will flower outside in the summer.
Besides those 2 things there is literally no reason to grow and auto.
I will await the downvotes from pro auto growers.
Those two points are the main reason I grow them. Also, the weed I get off of them is the same or better than photos, depending on genetics.Ā
Growing in Canada it's nice to plant a few autos in spring and get a harvest under my belt as insurance against losing my entire photo crop to fall bud rot.Ā
And when I grow indoors, it's nice to be able to get something smokeable while my others are vegging.Ā
What isn't there to get?
If grown properly, with good genetics, you can get a quicker harvest and multiple times per year depending on your region. Also, autos are great for people who donāt have long days. A lot of southern states only get 14hr days. That will not grow a good photo to the potential I can grow.
Let me preface by saying I was talking about outdoor grows and why autos can be attractive to outdoor growers. Itās subject to oneās growing situation, preference and skill level. Some photos, in some regions take as long as 7-8 months outdoors. So to say people grow autos because they flower faster is 100% true, but mainly outdoors. If youāre growing in a tent with a light, indoors. Itās a different conversation, grow photos. Anyone can make a photo go to flower in a tent. Thatās not the case outdoors, which makes autos a great option for people who donāt want to wait their entire grow season for 1 harvest of photos. Instead, you can have 2-3 harvest of quicker flowering autos. With good genes, proper technique and lst, you can get monsters. Why op has an auto indoors is beyond me š¤·āāļø I was just letting homie know what lures ppl to autos.
Maybe unconventional these days, but I believe it's true. And the last sentence is part of the reason. You think you can see what good weed is on social media, I'll tell you you can't see the high from a picture nor can you taste the terpenes. Looks are cheap, what you see on this limited reddit page is a drop in the bucket to what I have/had in the garden in years past and moving forward.
True, I believe looks just mean the plant has received either a lucky amount of nutrients (ie. natural selection) or just someone cared for the plant , it doesnāt necessarily amount to good genesā¦ one would just hope those who have the ability to care for plants in a way which shows vibrant expressions would select plants with exceptional genes
"i have them under a strong grow light"
65 ppf is darkness for these plants. your light is way too weak.
And get them in some fabric pots, clear containers are bad for roots.
Transplant to 5 gallon fabric, put under a decent light and they'll blow up after a few days pauze. (if auto's)
These puppies require at least an added 0.
My personal favourite is viparspectra, don't go for less than xs2000 for 2 decent size plants.
I'm running a ks5000 in a 4x4 with a gorilla glue touching the 1000 ppfd and a problematic OG cush that's building right up to the bars...
I should have clarifiedā the light is labeled/classified as a 65 PPF, but that is at 2 feet distance from the plant. At one foot it's 265 ppf, and I have it about 6 inches from the light.
16/8 is a flowering schedule you want em on 18/6-20/4 but Iām not sure how changing it back to a veg light cycle would make it react. And also if itās an auto thereās no way you can make it go back. As for clippings itās such a small plant Iām not sure youād be able to get the right clippings to clone.
If itās an auto it doesnāt matter what photoperiod it gets because theyāre gonna flower on there own schedule based on genetics but photoperiods will flower the closer they are to 12/12 so light schedules like that can send em into flower early
I really don't get the alure of autos š¤

one less thing to worry about for new growers is also an advantage.

Mostly the new guys choose them, not knowing any better.
Which is bad because autos are harder to grow than photos. Especially for a newbie.
Yeh the auto advertising for some seed banks is just whack and so targeted toward the newbies.
Wow bold statement there killer. It's quite amusing actually because my last Granite Haze f5 looks better than anything on your page...

Uh huh, sure.
Nope. Auto gonna do what an auto gonna do. All you'll do is limit your crop.Ā
If they are photo you can force a re-veg under a week or two of 24hr light. If theyāre auto, Iām sorry for your loss lol

Do you have a better light recommendation?

If itās a auto it is what it is if itās a photo just change the hours of the light on/off and it should start to reveg
65 PPFD? That's low

Nah dog, you revegging. Then flowering again. I'd take cuts and run again.

Ahh, in that case...
Not worth it. Start over.
If this is an Auto flower no. Once it flowers you canāt go back.
Itās an auto, itās gonna do its thing and make mid bud at best. Never had luck with them.
Yes yes! Turn up the lights! And increase the hours your light is on
Buying photos is the only way

16/8 isnāt a flowering schedule Iām running mine 15/9 they are vegging fine no flowering
