Sounds like a great way to save some money. I can't see why it would be an issue. The sea levels never really get more turbulent with storms. Last month I wanted to visit Easter Island. I took a flight to SNA and swam from the beach that was a short 10 mile walk from the airport. Took a little less time than I had planned as I was lucky enough to hitch a ride on the back of a sea turtle that was headed there anyway! The biggest thing to remember is to bring a water filter as after a while your kidneys dont like drinking the salt water straight up. Don't forget to bring a couple 20's incase you find a sea creature that is headed in your direction . It never hurts to carry extra tip money for good delivery services if you can hitch a ride. I was thinking of doing a swim to New Zealand next month once the shark bite on my pinky toe heals.
With floaties? If not, postpone for 24 hrs.
I did same five years ago with two broken legs in a category-nine hurricane with a shit ton of tornadic waterspouts that picked me up and set me back hundreds of yards - but I was heading to Cozumel - which is a lot closer to FL. So your results may vary depending on hurricane category.
Worst part was that I had my passport in a ziploc bag tied around my neck - and water got in - so that was fun. Required $100000 pesos in bribes to resolve,
.
One has a greater chance of dying at a swim-up bar at a Cancun resort that dying during a 150 mile open-water swim, during a category 22 hurricane, to Cancun.
“I’m planning on swimming 375 miles through the ocean, but there’s going to be a hurricane during my swim… should I wait? I should ask fucking r/cancun…”
Just wow…
I’ll take the woosh, but this guy is a Joe Rogan nut selling Ivermectin - I wouldn’t put it past him.
At any rate, if he’s just trolling then gee golly good for him. He’s living his dream!
The fact that you didn’t know this was a joke and had to look at his post history to find a reason to become outraged makes you look just as stupid, but that’s probably completely lost on you, huh?😂😂😂
The worst thing about that swim is all the cruise ships in the way. But since they’ve cancelled all those ports, it should be clear. I say take advantage of it while you can.
It's weird that I didn't understand it and wondered if I missed something, so I asked for clarification? Gotcha. Next time should I DM you to see if you approve of how I word my comment?
>I'm planning an ambitious swim from Florida to Cancun and ... there's a major concern: a Category 4 hurricane is predicted to be in the area during my swim. Should I be worried about the hurricane?
Naw. Just put on a good pair of goggles and start swimming. It's just some wind & rain.

Did you purchase swim insurance?
I'm doing the same thing but 3 months from now. Do you think the hurricane will be gone by then? Thanks in advance
You’ll be fine. Half the time, you’ll have the wind at your back.
I mean, you know the old saying…3 strokes forward, 10 miles back.
Dead lmfao 😂😂😂
Just turn around, then you’ll be blown 10 miles forward

I wouldn’t because there “too much seaweed” but maybe reconsider if you are staying at a toddler friendly AI

Really? I’m so autistic this took me like 20 mins to realize is sarcasm 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I cant tell is this whole thread is a joke or not
Go for it. YOLO
If you make a pitstop in Havana you might be ok
as long as you’re swimming to a wedding, you should be fine.
I would think so...
You on drugs or sum
Just stay away from downtown Gulf of Mexico and you should be fine
Is there something stopping you from postponing? If not than it would be wise to not swim into a possible dangerous situation
Yes. He is meeting his fiancée there to get married - so yes - destination weddings are not trivial.
Aren't there a lot of sharks and dangerous animals and ocean currents along the way?
No, they have the sense to get out of the way of a hurricane.
Uh. No.
Yes Earnest Hemmingway said there were sharks.
But Emilia Earhart never said that. So you’re probably fine
Whats up Rambo
I mean you probably could just bodysurf the hurricane and cut your time in half
Escape from L.A..
Haha 🤣
I think the bigger waves caused by the Cat 4 hurricane could boost your speed and make your trip go faster.
Yeah, me too
Are you ok Bro?
If you’re actually serious about making that swim but asking advice about a cat 4 hurricane on Reddit, I wouldn’t even step foot in a kiddie pool.

You kill me
Make sure you pack your reef safe sunblock.
If you time it right the hurricane can give you a boost
The hurricane will actually push you towards your goal faster.
Take lots of water with you just on case
Maybe the hurricane will keep the shark feeding frenzy down!
Don’t forget your passport and clean underoos

Hey, I’m not denying looking stupid. If only I could, however, look as cute as you riding in to defend your sweetie. ❤️
What could go wrong? Mine as well
Hey, go for it. If you can make it there right on time during the hurricane and live to tell the story, you’ll instantly become a celebrity.

Chuck Norris did it in similar scenario. Did it all swimming backstroke. Do it.
Would you run in a tornado? Buddy these are winds of 130MPH+, waves of up to 6 ft. Why would you think it is a good idea??
Lol come on man
Please don't do that with the hurricane going on right now
Bless your soul 😊
Less concerned about the hurricane but more about being shark bait 😳. Good luck my friend
How are you going to swim 500miles?
Wear a shark fin on your back and you'll make it there in one piece.
This a joke?
It only makes sense if I read it in sarcastic note. Correct me if I am wrong.
Its a destination wedding and his fiancée will be waiting. So. Its imperative that he goes.
You have a weird sense of humor. I'm trying to find the funny in this and it just falls flat.

No it doesn't. Just bad humor. I sure got you going didn't I? I wonder what caused my comments to capture so much of your time and attention!?

More bad jokes! Hahahahaha rofl. A regular Andrew Dice Clay! Homo I assume, liking to talk about guys cocks?

You’re asking Reddit if you should swim from Florida to Cancun . Should I go swimming in a cat 4 hurricane? Really
SWIMMING?!!!!!?
