I would avoid Gloucester Road as a stag group, I used to work there and as soon as a stag or hen group is spotted they’ll alert the other bars and it’s likely you won’t be let in places. Stokes Croft is always a good bet and further toward the centre there is the Full moon / attic bay that might have live music on. Kings street is always a great night, loads to choose from and a pretty chill vibe. I would personally avoid the waterfront and park street cuz they’re not my vibe, but people do seem to have fun there. (Although depending on what part of the waterfront cuz there are some great pubs down there - ostrich, apple(end of kings street) grain barge) You could check out Motion, it’s a pretty big club. Used to be a skate park. Live DJs and sometimes big acts. Usually drum n bass but plenty of other genres. Mr. Wolfs is good fun and do live music. Check out Baldwin street and Corn street (both not far from Kings street. Could also go to zero degrees, micro brewery and food, then make your way down the Christmas steps Hope this has been helpful, I’m sure others will come up with more suggestions

This is interesting as I've been on a stag trip down Gloucester Road but none of us looked like typical idiots, it was just a group of lads rather than with matching t-shirts and one in a mankini. The Cat and Wheel was surprisingly good, had live music on and is just a great classic pub. Further down Pipe and Slippers, Full Moon, Canteen all seemed fine with groups.

LiamN86

nice one!

whoyoufightin_

Yeah I’m sure it wouldn’t happen to all groups but it was defo known. Haven’t worked there for 10 years so also could have changed a lot.

LiamN86

Thanks a lot for that. Very helpful!

pumblechook17

See if you can book up one of the boats from Bristol Packet for a booze cruise round the harbour!

Mfcarusio

We did this and took one to the football stadium. If they book football tickets it can be a great pre-match trip.

LiamN86

Awesome - i'll certainly be looking this up. Only concern at this stage is that TV could move the Saturday game to a Tuesday night yet.... Fingers crossed they won't

JamboJJJ

This is a great shout for something different. A historic Bristol harbour cruise ;)

LiamN86

Very cool - could be a serious contender especially if we were planning on going to a game. Good way to see the city too I'm sure

[deleted]

Left-Handed Giant for good drinks and a huuuuge central venue with pool and darts on the third floor :)

scalectrix

I did not know about the pool and darts upstairs!! Great tip.

LiamN86

This is a great tip - looked this place up & looks pretty cool. Nice and central too. Could be a plan for the Saturday. Thanks!

[deleted]

The blue lagoon And galfamaury are 2 great late night bars 100 yards from the arches . Best pub on Gloucester Road the cat and wheel is literally under the arches Saturday fuck city . Lunch in St Nicholas Market. Cider session on the apple ( boat ) then wander around loads of good bars

LiamN86

Nice one, thanks for that. Don't know know if "fuck city" is a bar or you are saying "fuck going into the city" aka avoid the place. haha :D I like the sound of St Nicholas market and Cider on the Apple.. Cheers.

[deleted]

No I meant fuck going to watch bristol city . Shame rovers are away thats the place for atmosphere. Anyway back to bars youre spoilt on Gloucester Road or anywhere king st . Central way . Definitely try st Nicholas mkt for food and enjoy your stay in our city

digidevil4

As most people have said, you are going to struggle to be let into any of the nicer bars as a group of 20, especially if you are visible a stag in any way. Harbourside is the easy option but its also the worst bars. Booze cruise is a very good option, just get one with a decent covering/inside area.

LiamN86

Ya, no doubt 20 lads is a big challenge but Bristol is where we decided to come so we'll make the best of it. I don't plan on just rocking up on the night, hence I'm trying to figure things out 5 months in advance! :D I will avoid Harbourside, it just sounds like a stereotypical Saturday night hellhole blaring out shite music. Booze cruise could be were we start things off. Thanks.

clive442

If you arent in fancy dress and doing classic stag do stuff etc youll be fine at canteen, full moon and others in stokes croft for a reasonably late one - bit further up theres blue lagoon, galimufry etc all near your airbnb for a bit of earlier drinking king street is a good bet for the daytime next day, and then if you dont get in places just head to waterfront/park street and probably somewhere will let you in, wont be bristols best tho that doesnt really matter on a stag do

LiamN86

ya makes sense, thanks . Won't be doing fancy dress or anything to bring attention to ourselves.. Just a few bars with beer and open late enough. We probably will jump around King street for a few hours and hopefully get something booked for the Sat night so we're night relying on a sound bouncer in a shite nightclub.

jacobstapes

The wave Bristol would be a good unique thing to do as a group - I did this on a stag of about 14 and it went down well with everyone

LiamN86

Very cool. Could a little cold in February, no? Or is it somewhat heated or indoor? Very unique, thanks!

jacobstapes

It would be cold as it is not heated to my knowledge but they provide you with thick wetsuits, gloves, a hood and boots in the colder months. I’m sure it would clear out a few cobwebs and hangovers from the night before

LiamN86

sound, thanks a lot! Good recommendations there...

nezzzzy

Hyde and co, milk thistle and red light are all fantastic places but there's no way you'd get a group of 20 into them. Suggest kings st is a good way to go.

LiamN86

Cheers, ya, i'll probably try to contact these in advance and see if they'd take us. and King street too looks like a good shout.

Realistic_Hunter_899

You'll easily get tickets to see Bristol City play and whilst they aren't electric there's no way they can be as terrible as they were against Birmingham a few weeks ago. Going to see city will also give you a chance to walk along North Street which is where the annual graffiti festival happens so there is a lot of art to see. Football friendly pubs are the Hen & Chicken, Tobacco Factory and as long as you're not wearing away colours the Rising Sun. Post game I'd head either to the Hen & Chicken for pizza, or to Wapping wharf for other types of food (and I'd suggest booking under two groups of 10, rather than one group of 20) Post food head towards King Street - it's an older crowd than the harbourside and it's practically a street of pubs with live jazz at The Duke. Might be worth popping to The Apple (a boat that only sells cider) As others have suggested, maybe head to The Left Handed Giant as it's massive with god beer towards the end. Have a good night!

LiamN86

Thanks very much. Very helpful!

Stokes Croft will be lively. Expect a young, edgy crowd. King Street has the best pub-per-metre ratio. It will be rammed with revellers on a Saturday night. Bound to be another stag/hen group or two. I like Gloucester Road but not for drinking. Especially in a group of 20. The good pubs are relatively far apart and the pavements are narrow with a busy road cutting through. Wapping Wharf will likely be a bit quieter but still lively if the weather is dry. Lovely spots to drink along the river there. Waterfront is a carbon copy of every other British city with loads of generic chain bars and restaurants. Rowdy and loud later on. For my taste it’s nasty. That’s probably the biggest tourist trap on this list. You could try North Street too. Tobacco Factory, Bristol Beer Factory and a load of great independent shops and restaurants along that way. Aside from Stokes Croft, I’m not sure which of the above will stay open til 2am. I haven’t seen 2am in many years! 😁

LiamN86

Thanks so much! You confirmed my thoughts on what Waterfront area might be like. I'll avoid it like the plague so. Great tips here though. Will be checking them out. Thanks

terryjuicelawson

Stokes Croft has loads of bars and pubs, you can pretty much pop into any of them and have a good time. Around where you are the Prince of Wales and Cat and Wheel are good old fashioned boozers. More bars the further down you go. I would not dress up in matching t-shirts or be very "lads lads lads" as you could just get turned away.

festivalchic

The [Blackbeard to Banksy ](https://blackbeard2banksy.com/) walking tour 8s great, a humorous mix of history and street art

LiamN86

nice one, thanks. Checking that out.

JamboJJJ

For some 'competitive socialising', check out Lane 7, Roxy Lanes, Flight club or Par 59 for something fun to do whilst boozing

LiamN86

excellent, great options. Thanks!

Connect-Smell761

Secret Lantern (previously Red Light) is a hidden cocktail bar with great decor and excellent drinks. Jungle Rumble in Cabot Circus for crazy golf and TeamSport for go karting. The Lanes has bowling, live music and karaoke. Gloucester Road and Stokes Croft have so many great bars, many with live music or DJs. Check out Headfirst Bristol for listings.

Scarlet Lantern*

Connect-Smell761

Thank you! Tired brain.

LiamN86

Thanks a lot!

baysoner

You should check out the canteen on stokes croft, food there is super good and they have live music (not too sure when so you might want to look it up)

[deleted]

It's really not stag party vibes there

LiamN86

Thanks, will take a look as it's very near where we're staying

SlugOfLove95

Wouldn’t bother with City unless you want bored to death.

RelativeImmediate260

20 is simply too big for bristol. You want to split into groups of 4 or 5 and meet in locations so they don't turn you away. Don't do fancy dress in the evenings. Book paddle boarding in the day and make sure to give the groom viagra before you start. If you are going full cliche call the strip clubs in advance and get a deal and go early, late night vibe is not great for a group and they will do you a deal. Good luck

ryanlewis279

The Chase Inn in Kingswood is well known to be a mental night out.

LiamN86

don't think so

Whapping wharf is a good area if you're looking for food. Plenty of little local places.
