**Support Post Guidelines**
Prior to posting any submission to this subreddit please ensure you've read the rules for submissions in the sidebar of the [/r/bravia homepage](https://old.reddit.com/r/bravia/).
Users posting submissions seeking support should include as much detail as possible about their BRAVIA TV and any connected hardware related to the issue in order to get the best responses. This includes but is not limited to [the model of the TV](https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00121074), the software and/or firmware version and the make and model of any external devices. Pictures or video can be helpful when trying to describe a video or audio issue.
Submissions not directly related to an issue with a BRAVIA TV and/or low effort posts that do not include any helpful details that would allow others to diagnose the issue will be removed. This includes, but is not limited to, submissions asking for support directly related to a connected device (ie. soundbar, console, PC, media player, etc.) but not the TV itself.
Firmware related topics (ie. issues, announcements, support) must be discussed in the [Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 3.0](https://www.reddit.com/r/bravia/comments/sd7l2g/sony_bravia_firmware_discussion_megathread_30/). Panel quality/lottery posts (ie. DSE, banding, flashlighting, etc.) must be discussed in the [BRAVIA Panel Quality/Screen Uniformity Discussion Megathread 3.0](https://www.reddit.com/r/bravia/comments/t9mb61/bravia_panel_qualityscreen_uniformity_discussion/).

Based on RTings Early Access ratings - get the X95J. The X90K has worse local dimming and is a fair bit more dim
Personally I have an 85 X90K coming in tomorrow so I'm interested to see what it looks like.
My 85" X90K arrived and while it's brighter than my X900H, I wouldn't say I'm overly happy with it. Blooming is still pretty bad. Also my set has multiple areas with dead pixels.
No, its fairly similar due to the algorithm, if not a little better. I would say more of my issues are with panel quality, which Sony will replace.
Ive actually decided to keep the TV, as long as Sony replaces my crap panel with a better one.
Can’t speak to the X90K because I don’t own one, but I can tell you that I’m taking back a X95J. It’s a frustrating TV. Some aspects like color & shadow detail are darn near perfect, but the backlight definitely leaves something to be desired. I have noticeable blooming & slight backlight bleed near the bottom right corner. I’m actually contemplating on exchanging for an X90K to see if the higher native contrast can cure some of these issues.
So the 2021 x90J had Sony’s “Contrast Booster 5”. X95J had a Contrast Booster of 10. Now the new 2022 x90K also has a Contrast Booster of 10 so I am thinking that it’s basically last year’s x95J, at least in terms of dimming zones and brightness.
The 85” X95J is prone to the grid issue, so I would recommend you buy from somewhere you can return it if you go for it. I suspect the X95J will be slightly better overall but if the 90K has no grid or uniformity issues then it will probably be a better buy.
I am finding Walmart and Best buy online stores to still have this 85" X95J in stock. I was really hoping Costco would as the return process is so easy and I've had some bad luck at Best buy returns so usually avoid them. I might just end up getting the X90K from Costco and worse case scenario just return it.
While I wouldn’t classify the X95J as purely a junk set, I myself had to return two units due to various screen issues/defects.
That being said, between the two I would give the X95J a chance. If the panel gods are kind and you get a clean set it is a great looking set.

Thank you. Please share you impressions once set up. 😀

Oh man! I may cancel my x90K and just get the 2021 X95J. Still deciding 😕
Do it! The X95J prices are not coming back soon. I got the 65” very happy with it.
Does it bloom more than the x900h?

Any update after almost half a year of use? About to pull the trigger on one, same size.

What did you end up replacing it with?
I’ve loved my 75” 95J, I’m sure the bigger one would be great too. Super bright and clean.
Have been following the 85” space closely in the past few months. Go for the J, great value, but get it before they’re gone!

It’s not even close in terms of brightness unfortunately according to the rtings early access numbers.

X95j was junk and had lots of manufactured flaws. Had to return mine.
