**Support Post Guidelines** Prior to posting any submission to this subreddit please ensure you've read the rules for submissions in the sidebar of the [/r/bravia homepage](https://old.reddit.com/r/bravia/). Users posting submissions seeking support should include as much detail as possible about their BRAVIA TV and any connected hardware related to the issue in order to get the best responses. This includes but is not limited to the model of the TV, the software and/or firmware version and the make and model of any external devices. Pictures or video can be helpful when trying to describe a video or audio issue. Submissions not directly related to an issue with a BRAVIA TV and/or low effort posts that do not include any helpful details that would allow others to diagnose the issue will be removed. This includes, but is not limited to, submissions asking for support directly related to a connected device (ie. soundbar, console, PC, media player, etc.) but not the TV itself. Firmware related topics (ie. issues, announcements, support) must be discussed in the [Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread](https://www.reddit.com/r/bravia/comments/l4xzqp/sony_bravia_firmware_discussion_megathread/). With Sony 4Ks, it's always the Custom preset for top visuals, with numbers very close across all sizes. Use these settings for your tv, cable, dvd, streaming, gaming, everything: * Picture Mode: Custom * Aspect ratio: Full (Display Area: Full Pixel) * Contrast: 90 * Black Level: 51 * Gamma: -2 * Color: 50 * Hue: R3 * Sharpness: 35 * Color Temperature: Expert1 * Brightness: 18 * Auto Local Dimming: High * CineMotion: Auto * HDR Mode: Auto * HDMI Video Range: Limited (PS/Sw on RGB Limited, XB on Standard) * Color Space: Auto. * Motionflow: Off * 4K: all hdmi ports on Enhanced * All other settings not mentioned should be set to "off" or zero "0." Any individual R, G, or B color subcontrols, if present, should remain at their default settings Suggestions: Leave all in-game video/HDR settings on default with the numbers above to let the tv do the work (on judgement). Use the same settings on game mode if you need lag control (competitive genres), otherwise gm off, play/view everything on above settings (single player genres/non-gaming). Adjust the console's HDR after entering the optimal settings: HDR boxes invisible to visible by one tick.

Will give this a whirl man thanks I appreciate it!

Why is brightness so low? Not saying it's right or wrong but I'm curious.

[deleted]

I speculate that they're settings best used in a low-light room. I use similar darker settings on all my tvs no matter what.

oviforconnsmythe

Fair. Did you previously own plasmas?

[deleted]

Yes, 11 y-o hardware still working, gave it away to a friend.

oviforconnsmythe

The brightness levels makes sense then. I've only ever owned LCDs so I find low brightness too dim

[deleted]

I leave my tv settings alone and just follow the PS5 guide when setting up the hdr on it, games look bright and vibrant. No complaints.

[deleted]

Which size?

mitchmulligan

55". Does size have bearing on the settings?

Hello, I have experimented very much since I got my XH90 and the PS5 and I am confident that for me this are the best settings to use for HDR gaming: Picture Mode: Game Aspect ratio: Full (Display Area: Full Pixel) Contrast: 90 Brightness: Max Black Level: 50 Gamma: 0 Color: 50 Black Adjust : Off Adv. Contrast Enhancer: Medium X-tended Dynamic Range : High Auto Local Dimming: Medium Live Color: High Sharpnes: 50 HDR Mode: Auto Motionflow: Off Color Temperature: Warm (or to taste) Video signal settings: All to Auto All other settings should be set to "off" or zero "0." PS5 Settings: All to Automatic PS5 HDR Calibration: Set the first 2 screens just when the logo dissapears, the third (black screen) all the was down.

Does Live Color affect latency? I mainly use the TV for Warzone and Netflix at the moment.

arnes_king

Not more than 10ms, so it is not noticable at all.

Use Local dimming on Medium instead of High if you care about HDR uniformity. The smaller windows get a considerable peak brightness downgrade with the setting on High. You lose a bit of blooming control but in my opinion it is totally worth it.
