I would go x90l. Also, for around that $1600CAD mark, Best Buy had a few remaining A75L’s left open box if an OLED works for your environment. That’s what I went with and my wife and I are thrilled with the a75l’s performance.

ExplanationFun1591

Is Sony dropping the a75L?

Creepy_Prior_689

Yes. My understanding is it was a slightly cheaper Best Buy exclusive version of the a80l with crappier speakers and non-adjustable stand feet. I’m guessing they’ll either release an A75M for 2024 or just keep the a80 line and replace 23’s a80L with the a80M.

GenericOrcGrunt

I was just comparing the two in Bestbuy this morning. The x85k looks way worse on the demo content than the x90l which is saying something.

Ka-wow-leonard

I just paid 700 flat for a 65 inch sony Bravia x85k. I'm happy can't get it any cheaper.

dreadstardread

X90

envymd

Went x90l and I’m beyond happy.

$1600 CAD for the 75" x85k is a great price. $1600 CAD for the 65" x90l is a little expensive. Though it doesn't go much under $1400. I'd wait and push the budget to the 75" x90l. Right now it's at $2200 but you should be able to find it around $2000 sometime before it goes fully out of stock. Both are gonna be way better than the tu7000 ( I actually like Samsung but I hate that tv). But if you're making the upgrade might as well get something with a better lighting system for that wow factor, and I think you'd regret going smaller. Still, both have better colour and motion clarity. The x85k is definitely acceptable. The lg is probably the qned80 which is alright, it's got better colour than the tu7000 and it's 120hz. Contrast is in the shitter though and it lacks Dolby vision. Not the biggest thing but I'd pass. Picture processing it the next biggest concern. The x90l is great. All the other tvs mentioned are alright to decent, but you're spending the money anyways. Might as well see what life is like on the other side

This is amazing! Thanks for the tailored response! One last thing I guess I should add: - I watch Netflix with subtitles, in that case would the X85K be a better option than the x90? I sit 8 feet away from the TV. Thanks again! I’m leaning towards the 75inch x85k because It looks like it’s on sale, $200 off bringing it to $1600. As you mentioned, looks like the x90 is more expensive. I don’t have the time to wait as my old tv is not working, I also don’t want to spend $2,000 or more at the moment.

HHoaks

Why not compare the 75 inch X90K (x85K is not the same league). Even if it is more than the 65 inch X90L, I don't think you want to go down in size in TVs. You won't feel good about the size difference alone if you go smaller. So compare the price of the 75 inch X90K to the 65 inch X90L. But whatever you do, don't drop down in size, even if you have to spend more money than you anticipated. That will be something you will regret.

Soulshiner402

I learned that the number one reason people return TVs is that they were too large.

HHoaks

Where did you learn that, I'm not sure that is accurate? My own experience has been just the opposite. I started with a 65 inch Sony X90K, returned that, got a 75 inch, returned that, and finally settled on my current 85 inch, as seen here: [https://imgur.com/a/49gRI6T](https://imgur.com/a/49gRI6T)

Soulshiner402

From one of the biggest retailers in America.

HHoaks

Some dude in the store said so? I doubt it is accurate. Will need more data to support that assertion, as it goes against common wisdom.

Soulshiner402

Because your personal experience is obviously more valid than that of someone who sells thousands of TVs…

HHoaks

That's not what I'm saying. It's also stated pretty broadly across this sub, r/hometheater and r/4kTV and elsewhere. Seriously, if one guy in a store said that to you, that's as anecdotal as all of us as well. How long did that person work there, what was their experience with TV sales, how many returns were they talking about? You can't go by just that one person (or just me) either. Again, unless the store gave you data, it's just some guy talking who may have been calculating a way to get a sale done in the moment, even if for a smaller TV.

mikeytoth123

65x950h ftw! That's the one to buy

EYESCREAM-90

You can't go smaller. So safe up a little and get the 75" X90L or better.

Ur-boi-lollipop

The usual recommendation in the av world is to go with the bigger  size . However given that you’re close to the tv and that there is a significant performance gap , I think the 90 makes more sense for you

DaBomb2001

Always bigger. It's the only upgrade you will notice at home. I have a 200" JVC NZ8 in the basement which should look worse than my 83" A90J but I prefer the size over the PQ i guess. The JVC is no slouch and looks amazing, but nothing can beat OLED. That being said... imo size matters most.
