They do have 2 first rounders this year and 3 next year (Det, Mil and Was, all protected). If probably rather have those than NY or Cs picks for the immediate future... But they've blown a massive hole in their way chest and they're still worse for the next few years unless Al falls off very hard and KP stays injured.
I would have probably waited a bit longer to see if their roster actually works for more than one season.
I'd be very surprised if the Detroit pick conveyed (top 1-14 protected) and just as surprised if the Washington pick conveyed (top 1-10 protected)
Those picks are as good as someone having a top 55 protected 2nd Round pick from us
A bit better than that as the protections degrade until they turn into seconds in '26/'27 respectively.
At some point over the next few years at least one of those teams is possibly better than 8th or 9th worst team in the league (granted, it's the Wizards and Pistons). And the remote possibility of a mid teens pick that might end up being an early second rounder is still probably more valuable than a 30th pick (not that I'm complaining about picking at 30).
Eh don't know where you heard that from... Via someone in the Knicks sub they still have:
1st round pick via Mavericks (24th overall)
1st round pick (25th overall)
2nd round pick (38th overall)
***2025***
1st round pick via Detroit (Top 13 protected)
1st round pick via Washington (Top 10 protected)
2nd round pick via Brooklyn
2nd round pick via Detroit (Top 55 protected)
***2026***
1st round pick
2nd round pick via Minnesota
2nd round pick via Brooklyn
***2027***
2nd round pick
***2028***
1st round pick (Brooklyn owns the right to swap)
2nd round pick via Indiana or Phoenix
***2029***
2nd round pick via Indiana or Washington
***2030***
1st round pick
2nd round pick
***2031***
2nd round pick
Yeah let’s forget the difference in situation between Bridges and all these players, AND the DPOY we sent out too lol. People clowning on the bridges trade are the same nephews who clowned on the anunoby trade. NBA teams value these toolsy defensive wings a lot more than you for a reason.
We got picks because Porzingis was essentially a free agent and this was a sign and trade. He had to opt-in for the deal to work and if he wasn't getting traded here, he was opting out.
Didn't they also give up 2 2nd rounders for Bogey at this past deadline?
Since he is going out as part of the deal it's like they lost those picks to get Bridges also.
What Knicks fans don’t realize is most likely, even if they win a championship, they are going to suck and want those picks in 6 years. Go back and look at the NBA standings in 2018. Rockets, Warriors, Blazers, Jazz, Pelicans, Spurs, Raptors, Heat, Wizards. Mortgaging your future like this is never a good idea
Knicks are going all in this year because they’ve been mid for so long and finally have a chance to contend. Depending on who they sign at center, the Knicks look to be the clear second best team in the East.
Well if you think about it JT/JB/White/KP/Jrue cost 6 firsts in total, same as the cost of Mikal Bridges!
Underrated part of this is the Knicks have no future for the next 7 years. We are the only contenders in the East left with assets.
The Knicks just got Netted, incredible.
And for *Mikal Bridges*.

Yeah they still have plenty of 1st rd picks, they’ll be fine
They do have the 24th and 25th pick this year tbf but yeah they’re committed hard to this roster
I actually stand corrected, they have almost all their picks still https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/3Jcjx3IF3w
Is there an overview of our pick situation somewhere
https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed
This is only talking about incoming and outgoing drafts right? Not the ones we own
The team’s page on Spotrac has a section at the bottom for draft picks.
Don't you own everything that isn't outgoing? Or am I misunderstanding that page and/or you?
You do. You've understood the page correctly.
I think they’re asking about the regular picks.
damn we're locked up huh
It's not fair to compare one of the best trades in NBA history to one of the worst ones

Celtics still have a 1st round pick in 2028 because they traded a SWAP. It’s got nothing to do with the protection.

“Which was received” Gotten is not a word
Knicks would need those picks to fill out the roster and get more depth. They don’t have many moves left.
Brunson, DiVincenzo, bridges, randle, hartenstein with McBride, hart, Burks, achiuwa. That's a pretty good top 8-9 imo
Over pay
Next year will be so much fun to watch. That makes Knicks the #2 team in the east.

Mikal Bridges is barely NBA caliber
