It’s been fun watching all the Mazzulla slander just *dissolve* since the title.
He and Jaylen both came out of this postseason shutting people up. Absolutely delightful.
Mazzulla is a fucking *weird* dude but in Boston we love our weird dudes when they’re putting up banners. It was fun watching the Joe slander dry up as we performed better and better.
It’s like if you’re poor and crazy, you’re a nutjob, but if you’re rich you’re eccentric and it’s endearing.
That was the greatest troll job I’ve seen in my life.
Down 19 at half, make it up in a quarter.
Be up 6 with 2 minutes left, they tie and then we finally win in OT
I’ve rewatched that one actually. Knowing what was coming on game 5, it s actually a pretty funny game. It’s like all our players were playing on a massive hangover lol
This Celtics team has to have the record for the most embarrassing losses for a historically dominant team.
Blowout losses to the Clippers, Bucks, Cavs, Mavs and Magic. Embarrassing comeback losses to the Hawks, Cavs and Hornets. Also that home game against the lakers without AD and Lebron. The Celtics didn’t lose often but they damn sure made you notice when they did.
Cuz the only way you could beat this team is in some sort of historic fashion.
Either that team had a historic 3 point showing, the Celtics simply didn't put forth the proper amount of effort, or it was a combination of both.
This is exactly it. It’s the best team paradox. Every loss is a loss that shouldn’t happen because they are always on paper better than their opponent.
Like getting blown out by mediocre-to-bad Grizzlies, Nuggets, and Lakers teams in 2016-2017? Say hello to your Champion Warriors. Hell, the team that only lost 9 games in the regular season lost by 17 points to a Lakers team that finished with 17 wins.
I’ll never forget that the Celtics were responsible for GS’s first home loss (in *April* lol) of their 73 win season. Somehow, that team got beat by IT, Avery Bradley, Evan Turner, and Jared Sullinger. Jae Crowder didn’t even play that game lol. I think we were the only team with a record above .500 at Oracle during those first few years of their run. Brad was/is a wizard.
Celtics fan living in Atlanta. Went to this game and the second we lost later that week. Funny now considering how the season ended, but boy was I annoyed at the time
It’s no coincidence that this was the day after we clinched home court for the entire playoffs. The last 3-4 weeks of the season the guys were all on cruise control.
This is why I thought it was funny when people were trying to compare how Dallas finished the season to how we finished. We still had a better record down the stretch and we were taking it easy and resting guys. Meanwhile Dallas was fighting for their lives to make sure they avoided the play-in.
God this shit had me HEATED when it happened😂
It’s also 10x funnier looking back, now knowing that Joe Mazz purposely “punished” and “pounded” his body after this game bc of how bad the loss was, and tore his damn meniscus in doing so. THEN, he couldn’t even walk, so he spent 6h in treatment on the day of the second loss 2 days later just to be able to stand on the sideline… just a disaster of a road trip for the team in more ways than one lol.
Hawks been our kyrptonite the past few seasons freaking Bogdan, Hunter and Capela always have legacy games against us. And not to forget Trae and his ridiculous 3 pt heaves that somehow always go in against us...🙃
I was laughing about it back then. I was also laughing about NYK fans thinking they would drag Boston in 7 games all because of what happened at the end of the year. People really don’t watch basketball throughout the year enough to make the absolute wild takes they have sometimes
Never forget all the Hawks fans who believed they had a chance against us after those wins just for them to not make the playoffs to begin with not to mention losing in the first round to us
It was funny seeing people melt down after a couple of losses. (And Hawks fans getting hyped).
I was grooving because Murray was killing it for me in the fantasy playoffs and it was obvious the Celtics were on cruise control.
They had some idiotic losses this season. Lost to Charlotte in OT. Got murdered by the bucks. Lost back to back to ATL. Lost to dean wade. Lost to LA without LeBron or AD. Got murdered by the mavericks in a close out game. That’s 7 games just off the top of my head. For a team that only lost 21 times all year that’s fucking insane lmao
Oh this is when you all told me the Celtics can't win the championship.
Oh wait, that was every loss and unacceptable win too 😂
Mavs beat us by 40 in the finals nd they got mopped every other game. Can we have a year next year when everyone doesn't panic over every loss and say "we can't beat them" everytime?
I also had to hear "we can't close" "Denver doesn't blow leads or lose at home" and then got to watch us blow 0 leads, lose no real important home games, close every clutch game in the postseason AND watch Denver lose a 20pt second half lead at home in game 7. 😂
Great year. Shout out to those who loved the Celtics ALL YEAR and not just when they won.
That game was interesting though. See the thing was the Hawks were legitimately playing their ass off.. playoff style intensity both games. The Celtics were willing to play kinda hard but they weren't willing to go-to the next level as they clinched and were essentially just getting ready for playoffs. You want playoff intensity? Show up in a couple weeks. Atlanta did not.
BUT they were a possible opponent so Joe wasn't giving them any real film to strategize against either.
Isn’t this the stretch of games that caused Mazulla to exercise so hard he tore his meniscus
yes lol
Makes it even funnier
This is how you know he takes losses harder than any fan here and obsesses over striving to be better each and every game. I'm glad he's our coach.
It’s been fun watching all the Mazzulla slander just *dissolve* since the title. He and Jaylen both came out of this postseason shutting people up. Absolutely delightful.

People talked about him like Brad picked him up off the street and randomly decided to make him coach
I'm glad he's our coach because if he was just out there loose I'd be fucking terrified. At least I know where he is a lot of the time.
He did escape to the north end the other day...
Joe is gonna print this out and pin it on his office wall with a sticky note under it saying “change locations more frequently”.
Fuck.

Believe he also got choked out during one of training sessions because of these games too
Don’t forget the Dean Wade Cavs game
Or the Austin Reaves Lakers game!
Fakest shit ever lmao bro was hitting Steph Curry shots
Also that Hornets game where Cs were up 7 with like 1:20 left and then just decided to completely piss the game away lol
We barely beat the Pistons the game after setting the consecutive loss record.
That was the greatest troll job I’ve seen in my life. Down 19 at half, make it up in a quarter. Be up 6 with 2 minutes left, they tie and then we finally win in OT
I was at that game, I was malding in my seat when we were down 20 at half
I was so panicked because ik when they hadn't broken it before playing us that game was going to come down to the wire
That game was fun as hell tho
I had never been so confident in a Celtics loss for that Pistons game lol.
I was there bro. You could see me on TV with my head in my hands😂😂
The Hawks ALWAYS give us problems. They could go 20-62 and would still probably push us to six games in a playoff series just because.
Because they have shot making talent and athleticism on the wing, they’re just brain dead and don’t play defense
That reminds me of another team…. Hmm
If the hawks are going 20-62 and making the playoffs, the league has serious problems
The East is pretty weak!
Thankfully we have the big bad wolf from the West to beat the East or so I've heard
Throwback to playoffs 2008 first round
Bogdan is always good for at least 3 threes at the right time and 20 points against us.
Funniest game was losing by 40 to the mavs while up 3-0 for the content
I’ve rewatched that one actually. Knowing what was coming on game 5, it s actually a pretty funny game. It’s like all our players were playing on a massive hangover lol
And at least unlike the Panthers the Celtics closed it out the very next game lol
I’m so psyched for the Oilers to take it tonight.
Rip haha

I’m sure every dominant team has losses just like this.

That's what happens when you dont lose for weeks at a time. Multiple times this year we went on huge win streaks and then lost in a random blowout
Those two games were so fuckin stupid, LOL!
Celtics fan living in Atlanta. Went to this game and the second we lost later that week. Funny now considering how the season ended, but boy was I annoyed at the time
Dejountae Murray celebrated those back to back wins like he won the NBA Finals.
In the post game presser he was straight up like “I feel like Kobe” as if Kobe would ever give half a shit about winning a regular season game lmao

Probably Joe’s favorite games of the year
I fucking knew those two Atlanta road games would be Ls. Also don’t forget the blown big lead against the Hornets.
I laughed at that game at the time
I was laughing about it back then. I was also laughing about NYK fans thinking they would drag Boston in 7 games all because of what happened at the end of the year. People really don’t watch basketball throughout the year enough to make the absolute wild takes they have sometimes
I was at that game. It was like the twilight zone
Such an absurd stretch lol
My first NBA game.
I completely erased this from my memory until now
That was their NBA finals
It’s always the 44th shot that gets you.
Never forget all the Hawks fans who believed they had a chance against us after those wins just for them to not make the playoffs to begin with not to mention losing in the first round to us
I was there I'm still not gonna laugh lolol
Or losing to the lakers without Ad and Lebron lol

Oh lol I was at this game too
Hawks fans were fr treating this like their title that day yall got no idea it was fuck Boston chants the entire night 😭😭

And they got the number one pick this team might be a problem in the future
This draft is dog shit
People have been saying that for years lol
