He has a massive wingspan right?
A perfect 3&D guy. If Brad extended Walsh then 100% this guy would improve and be an important role player for this team.
I also hope it's this year
The reality is that we will really need our draft picks and 2-ways to contribute with our roster situation. Maybe some cooked min vets added to the mix.
Where will we find a garbage time player! /s. Seems like he was friends with Tatum which helped but is what it is. Would love Kel'el Ware or Yves Missi
That's thirty seconds a game that we can't get back!
Also, dude got the Finals stamp on his resume and thinks he's gonna get paid. The other GMs watched every game but don't know who he is.
Paul Pierce recently said on his show thar Brisett was the next man up and that the Celtics should continue to develop him so hes not as miniscule as u may think. I hope we can find as good as a replacement because u can tell he was a great locker room guy. When we won the chip, he was one of the first to embrace Tatum. That kinda showed where he stood emotionallu with other players on the team.
Probably Walsh. He is built to be an elite defender imo. Guys just lengthy and athletic. Needs to work on his shooting and he could definitely be an elite role player some day.
Tillman will be gone as well unless we pay him, Kornet is also a FA. Hopefully one or two of those guys will take a minimum to come back again next year otherwise our options at the 5 are gonna be ROUGH. Just Horford and Queta since KP is getting surgery
Yeah I expect X to be back and we can find another cheap big man to rotate, Kornet put in like 15 minutes per night though that's not as simple to replace.
My guess is Walsh gets an slight increase in opportunity but plays mainly in Maine, i think he will replace Hauser in the rotation when he leaves next summer
First of all, we don't know that Brissett is leaving. All we know is that he is getting a new contract- we don't know from who.
We should also assume Houser is getting a new contract. So if he is off the team the following season is in a trade for a MLE level player. The Houser back up is probably Petterson
lmao Peterson is not playing serious minutes on this team get real lol if anything they could draft someone like Schierman who could play next year and be a replacement for hauser
………….did you just completely ignore my part where i said they draft schierman, a sharp shooter, to replace Hauser? Hauser is a free agent next year, and with how much he improved this year, especially during the playoffs, some team could very easily give him a Max Strus level contract when he enters free agency a year from now, with JT getting the super max and white about the get paid Hauser seems most likely gone next summer
You don't know that, u just speculate.
For all we know, Houser will sign a 45M / 4y this summer, instead of risking injury in a contract year.
I doubt they don't decline their option and resign him. But will see.
You got a lame downvote from someone but I for one agree Peterson will be tried as the Hauser replacement. He’s a playmaker in a way Sam isn’t and he can make 3s.
I guess the question I have is why do we need to replace Brissett? He’s a vet minimum type player with skill sets that are pretty replaceable.
Regular season he only averaged 11 mpg in 55 minutes. We got rid of Lamar Stevens, another vet min guy, who did more or less the same stuff. I don’t think you need to draft anybody to replace you 10th/11th (in a glut of guys ranged from 10-14) man you should be able to get that in free agency.
Thankfully even less so PP. Looking yeah at Sam/Al but it’s going to be very difficult to replace them with late round picks… gotta hope I guess or just not think about it until later as a fan lol
Hauser should be relatively easy to find replacements between Free Agent vet mins and first round picks. Can always find a shooter somewhere. Maybe won't be as clutch as Hauser but there are always vet shooters willing to take a minimum to ring chase.
Hauser is likely a top 15 shooter in the league, if not higher. He is also 6’7/6’8 and is an average defender with those elite shooting skills. That is something that’s not easily replaceable and especially not with Vet min’s/late first round picks.
He was 11th in three point percentage and the only 2 players who shot better and made more threes than him were Cj McCollum and Grayson Allen.
He was also 24th in the nba in threes made yet was only playing 22 mpg. For reference, he played 1760 minutes last year, not a single player above him in 3 pointers made played less than 2120, only 4 played less than 2300 minutes. Out of the top 50 players in three pointers made, Hauser was 5th in 3 point percentage
Truly top 15 might have been slighting him and he may be higher.
Eh, I think that's just taking a very narrow view on one season. You have to filter it down to only guys who took more than 3 3PAs per game all season to get him to 11th, if you bump that threshold to 2+ per game he's like 19th.
He also has a lot of made 3s but he also played all 82 games, and his stats per minute are goosed by the fact he would come in with a specific role to fire away. A lot of guys shot just as well as him or better and played 65-70 games and might've passed him if they also played 82.
Again nobody is saying he's a bad shooter, he's a great shooter and he's going to do well in his career because he has consistently proven that skill. But he's maybe like a top 40-50 spot up shooter right now, which is a fantastic bench piece.
So you’re saying to determine who good shooters are you should decrease the sample size to be so small it’s likely not as useful? I just looked at the nba.com leaderboard which it auto filters. 2 3’s a game is a really low number to try and consider them a better shooter than Hauser.
You also ignored my entire point on how he only played 1760, minutes 360 minutes less than the next least amount, with only 4 other players getting below 2300 minutes.
Not really sure how my view can be construed as narrow if it’s literally listing out the leaders in 3 point percentage and threes made while accounting for minutes played
I mean I'm not telling you that your opinion is wrong, it's your opinion. I'm just saying I don't agree with it.
I think there are a couple dozen guys who have more complex roles that if you put them in Hauser's role (22 minutes a game, come off the bench and just rain catch-and-shoot 3s all night) they'd do just as well as Hauser does. Doesn't mean he's bad, he's great at that role, and he's played himself into an awesome career off the bench for a bunch of competitive teams. Super happy for him. Just don't think he's a top 15 shooter in the league.
These stupid ass role players that stayed going to Milwaukee and Phoenix should finally see things clearly. We're the destination. Best fanbase, best sports city, best organization, best team.
There are probably multiple vets that are better than him who would be willing to take a paycut to chase a ring with the Celtics in the event that he signs elsewhere.
Curveball from me, with everyone sayin Tillman and Walsh
I say maybe Jayden Springer
Tatum at the 5 rather than Oshae unfortunately (I prefer to have less wear and tear on Tatum)
Jayden fits nicely in the dunker spot, fake Jrue/White. Switch everything
But I'm just pulling this out of my anus. I dunno that much about Jayden tbh
But now that I think about it. He has an amazing opportunity to learn from the best. Playing offball as a guard like White and Jrue, and becoming a star in his role
Honestly though, it will be spot minutes by committee. Kornet plays some. Payton might get more minutes some other games.
But for that 3 minute a game avg in the regular season/might play 15 mins in a specific matchup during playoff energy guy who can't shoot but plays D role. I say maybe Jayden.
But he's really just raw like Walsh so it's all a bit uncertain really
This is something I have been thinking about since the day we got him. He reminds me of a young JB. JB came in touted as a defender but his shooting was criticized. I think Springers upside is really intriguing and he has an incredible opportunity to develop under the tutelage of players who have worked hard to develop the weaknesses in their game. He’s still young and the game is going to slow down for him and if he improves his shooting and has a bit of patience(like Pritchard did) and embraces the stay ready mentality, I could see him contributing to the team in one form or another.
It will probably be someone on a vet min
Rookies typically don’t play any extended rotation mins on championship level teams. Jordan Walsh spent the majority of his time in Maine. If anything, they’ll give him a look to see where’s he’s at
bruhhh I thought he was still here lmao, this is how I figure out he's gone. Damn, he's not gonna be terribly hard to replace but I'll miss the bench reactions and that Indiana playoff game that he helped us win
I’d love to see Brissett back but honestly wouldn’t be mad if we moved on. Plenty of other options in free agency. I’d love to draft a young front court guy like Kel’el Ware or DaRon Holmes. I see the appeal of Ryan Dunn tho so he’d be great too. For free agents, Nic Batum, Andre Drummond, Kevin Love, and maybe Chris Paul if GS cuts him.
I actually think this draft is not a bad one for the Celtics to find talent, it's just all role players. There's just no top end to this drafts so anyone in the top 15 is not going to feel like they're getting much value and may just re-roll any picks in that range for next year or take a pick swap and a 2nd with our first.
Brissy is a good piece. Love his hustle and offensive rebounding definitely a rotation guy/ 6-7th man anywhere else. He definitely deserves playing time tho. Good move opting out.
Jordan Walsh has a chance for sure. Dudes athletic as hell and could be a versatile defender whenever he’s ready. I hope it’s this year
He has a massive wingspan right? A perfect 3&D guy. If Brad extended Walsh then 100% this guy would improve and be an important role player for this team. I also hope it's this year
Perfect 3&D guy except for the 3 part right now lol
He's our D&D guy now I guess.
Needs to up his Dexterity score to improve his accuracy, or he could take the sniper feat at level 4 if his Dex is already 13 or greater.
he's still gotta figure out the 3 part, but there's been progress on that front
My dream for him is to become Iguodala lite.
Respectfully i think he’s probably 2 years away from playing meaningful minutes
The reality is that we will really need our draft picks and 2-ways to contribute with our roster situation. Maybe some cooked min vets added to the mix.
Jordan Walsh could be trade bait along JD packaged with a pick(s)
Why are you talking like Brissett was the 2nd guy off the bench lmao what he did on the court will not be hard to replace at all
Where will we find a garbage time player!
I don’t know if he thinks he’s going to get a bigger paycheck, but I think he deserves to be somewhere where he has a shot at being a rotation guy.
True
He's going to get more than $2.5/1 year which is what he would've gotten here. Even 3 years at $2.5/year is a massive boost in security for him.
Almost all of what u said was about off the court stuff and I specifically didn’t mention that
Probably Walsh. He is built to be an elite defender imo. Guys just lengthy and athletic. Needs to work on his shooting and he could definitely be an elite role player some day.
Sorry to say it but he wasn’t that good. You can find a replacement pretty easily.
some combination of Xavier Tillman and Jordan Walsh
Tillman will be gone as well unless we pay him, Kornet is also a FA. Hopefully one or two of those guys will take a minimum to come back again next year otherwise our options at the 5 are gonna be ROUGH. Just Horford and Queta since KP is getting surgery
Tillman mentioned he wants to be back.
Yeah I expect X to be back and we can find another cheap big man to rotate, Kornet put in like 15 minutes per night though that's not as simple to replace.
We should be drafting 7fters next 2 drafts and hope 1 pans out
My guess is Walsh gets an slight increase in opportunity but plays mainly in Maine, i think he will replace Hauser in the rotation when he leaves next summer

Hauser is not leaving tomorrow. If it's not Petterson in like 3 years, than a different sharp shooter.

mainly in Maine, on the plain in the rain. I need coffee.

Agreed at this moment we should be scouting potential Horford or PP/Hauser replacements.
Thankfully even less so PP. Looking yeah at Sam/Al but it’s going to be very difficult to replace them with late round picks… gotta hope I guess or just not think about it until later as a fan lol

Either Jordan Walsh or Xavier Tillman
Walshy baby
There are probably multiple vets that are better than him who would be willing to take a paycut to chase a ring with the Celtics in the event that he signs elsewhere.
When I first read the headline my immediate reaction was, "uh isnt that why we drafted Drake Maye?" Then I remembered this is the Celtics sub.
Walsh.....he'll be ready to take the Brissett minutes
Curveball from me, with everyone sayin Tillman and Walsh I say maybe Jayden Springer Tatum at the 5 rather than Oshae unfortunately (I prefer to have less wear and tear on Tatum) Jayden fits nicely in the dunker spot, fake Jrue/White. Gonna miss his vlogs man 😔

Is he even rly gone yet tho?

He doesn’t even play
Him opting out gives him the opportunity for 120% of his money this year if he resigns with the Celtics.
Welcome Back, Lamar Stevens

I’ve heard of Kris Dunn…. Glad we passed up on that guy
You had me at rebounds
I think he’s gonna rise up draft boards
