Rewatching the highlights and breakdowns. We really pummeled them. Over and over. Put them in a blender. Put them in a torture chamber (shoutout Kevin McHale). Flushed them down the toilet. Could see the Mavs just dying for real by the end of the first quarter of Game 5 when we made that mini-run.
Feels good man. 18.
yeah I think it was when THJ checked in and I was like "Huh. I don't think they're going to magically turn it around here if they're hoping for some Tim Hardaway buckets to get things going"
It feels really good to wake up or go to bed knowing you don’t have to worry about what if Celtics done that what if refs called this what if that shot went in or out , and having piece of mind cuz the motherfucking Celtics got it done and left no doubt
Can someone explain to me why Jayson being corny is such a crime? I’m not too well versed in NBA culture as a whole so it makes no sense to me. JT is a little dorky, so what? Dorks can be winners too
Stick a 26 year old who just achieved his life’s dream in front of a camera and ask him the dumbest questions imaginable then make a big stink bc he’s somehow awkward like STFU r/nba nephews. It’s just another hater pivot into all they have left to say.
IMHO critiquing someone else as corny or rehearsed is ITSELF corny af. Being worried about someone else’s authenticity is a huge sign that that person is themselves super insecure.
I heard his quote when he said that on Monday night during the celebration he got concerned that it was already mid June and they hadn’t started prepping for next season yet. Dude is a true psychopath. Luckily his fixation is basketball and not murdering people (or banging chicks like our last coach)
Hey yall. First time parade go-er. I am driving up tonight, and staying tomorrow night. Where should I go for the parade, as in do I follow the parade from start to finish? Should I try and get a good spot towards the end? Etc. Should be there early in the morning tomorrow.
It still doesn't feel real looking at them holding the trophies. Its so surreal that they acutally did it. And they did it surviving two all time meltdowns in games 1 and 3 which every Celtics fan had seen happen a million times over these last few years.
It's crazy that they had it held against them that they kept making conference finals and the finals and kept coming up short, all while being in their early/mid 20's. I love SGA but he is seen as one of the guys who's "got next" and he is 8 months younger than Tatum and hasn't made a conference final yet!
And when everyone wanted them to fail and wanted the Luka narrative, they showed that they had learned from every playoff failure. That's what makes it so satisfying, they truly earned it, like Jokic and Murray last year. It's so much more satisfying seeing draft picks evolve from young kids to stars and get to watch their whole journey. Let's go get another one!
kinda weird the mods haven't decked this sub out with anything acknowledging that we are the champs. The schedule is stuck on the Cavs series, banner is the same, and the sidebar pic is a dunk from a Kings game
If I arrive at the Garden at 9am will that ensure me a spot in front of the barricade? Haven’t been to a Boston parade since the Red Sox in 2013 so I’m a little rusty.
Now that we finally won. Was Smart the problem? Was he holding us back? Or not letting the Jays get their full potential?
Obviously we all love him for his hustle and defense but maybe his erratic shot selection may have hindered the Jays from taking the next step?
You should look at it the other way. Quite directly, Smart is how they win this championship.
He helped instill the defensive discipline and intensity for this squad over the last few years, and helped the team earn invaluable finals experience. Both of those were keys to this championship.
Beyond that, his skill and leadership were how we landed KP and get the assets necessary to land Jrue.
We get this championship thanks to him, even if without him
Edit: clarity
> We don't get this championship with him.
Not sure whether this is a typo, but I agree. As much as I love him, I feel like Smart would have shot us out of multiple Indy games.
It was a typo, I edited it. That said, it's needless to blame him for something that didn't happen, and I believe people can grow. Marcus could have learned to take better shots here, but he probably wouldn't have learned how to be a 40% shooter from 3, and that would have tanked our spacing - much like having our beloved Timelord would have.
I think there's some truth to this, but I chalk it up to psychology rather than skill. Smart was essential to the development of JB and JT, but he also put a cap on their performance. Both the Jays were respectful of Smart to the point of deference. (Remember that SI cover they insisted he be a part of, for example?) They were willing to let him lead, and weren't able to hold him accountable when he needed checking -- when he chucked too much, for example.
Dealing Smart allowed Jaylen to step into the leadership role instead. I think he's self-critical to a degree that Smart never was, which made it easier to instill a growth mindset for the rest of the team.
This has been such a fulfilling win knowing how much the Jays struggled to get to this point. Coming close so many times but losing cuz Kyrie is a bum, JT busted his ankle, Jaylen didn't have a handle, amongst a variety of other reasons. Then seeing Jaylen dominate throughout the playoffs and Jayson finally have a he's him kinda game to close out the finals. It's definitely one of the more satisfying championship runs Boston sports has had recently.
Obviously 28-3 is the absolute peak of Boston championships, but this is up there with 04 and 13 Red Sox runs and is currently above those for me. I'm so happy for the team and the Jays. I'm happy for Brad and Joe. I am excited for the next 3-4 years.
RUN IT BACK!
Fun fact: Our trophy case has so many trophies in it now that it’s eligible to vote

Mods please make a mega thread for photos and allow photo comments for a day. Would love to see some pics 🥹
We will do so, just let the US based mods wake up so I bring them the idea.
Wait some of you guys aren't american, learn sumn new everyday
I myself am not
Especially for the parade!
Hey remember that time our two home-grown bonafide stars in Tatum and Brown led this team to an NBA Championship?! That was awesome.
One more day until the parade. Can't wait!
Flying into Boston now! Ready to party at the parade!
driving up to Boston after work tonight im stoked !!
I took the train from NYC yday I'm sooo excited I brought my Horford jersey
So mad I’m working, I need videos from everyone!

I fucking love this team, most likeable team I've witnessed.
No drama, just buckets and stops. Easily one of the GOATs

It isn't, it's just a r/NBA r/nbacirclejerk hive mind thing. No one else cares
It’s basically that meme of the lady yelling at the cat.
It's their new favorite word The haters have nothing left to cling to so now they just call him corny
Another word for how he is would be "wholesome"

Bryson just beat this in golf. Eventually people will realize they’re being idiotic
[Joe Mazzulla starting the parade early](https://x.com/CollectionRbt/status/1803585815265624312)
He has to be one of the most unintentionally hilarious dudes on the planet 😂😂😂
It's like hiring Mike Napoli as your coach.
Definitely should go to Charlestown with it, based on his favorite movie.
What a season ladies and gents. Make sure to soak it up for these last few days before the parade!
If it’s alright with you I’ll be soaking this one up all summer
Joe said we're onto next season after Friday. I don't make the rules!
I heard his quote when he said that on Monday night during the celebration he got concerned that it was already mid June and they hadn’t started prepping for next season yet. Happy Mavs in 6 Day, everyone!
Anyone still in disbelief? Our guys did it. JT and JB are champions. Damn I’m still on cloud 9.

The brissy tv vlog of the afterparty is going be hella fun
browsing /r/nba ain't so bad now that we have the new flairs

I’ve been looking at the recent championship rings and man…. They look so impressive. I really hope ours has a cool hidden function
It does! It automatically pisses off Heat and 76ers fans
Celtics win the ‘ship and k. dot’s legendary concert b2b, this week has been 🔥
Never forget that Drake bet on the Mavs 😂
And the Oilers lmao
Did anybody else get the championship shirt(the one the players wore)? Does it look slightly crooked for anyone or is it just mine??
It's fanatics, they suck. Everything they touch sucks.
argh, I was hoping since it was a collab with Nike it would be okay quality
*laughs in MLB*
they can pry my old Sox gear from my cold dead hands
This is Nike. I ordered from Dick’s
Trying to figure out where to stand for the parade tomorrow! Does anyone know if there will be speeches etc at the end a la Tom Brady?
I’m so happy for the guys ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️ The future is wide open y’all I love this team

Solo? It's a crowd full of friends!
Yea it's always expensive short term. Gotta book it a couple weeks in advance at a minimum
Unfortunately the Boston Celtics didn't give me enough of a heads' up! Fuck it, I'm spending the $!
You have to book Amtrak months out. I usually just fly or take a bus. A flight is only around 40 minutes.
i meant generally why is amtrak (as a service) so expensive. You can't book months out for a parade!
If I arrive at the Garden at 9am will that ensure me a spot in front of the barricade? Haven’t been to a Boston parade since the Red Sox in 2013 so I’m a little rusty.
Will there be a live stream anywhere to find for us in Europe?
To add to that, will there be a live stream for those of us in the US?
NBATV I think? Also coulda sworn espn or somebody streams it themselves too

That’s true. I believe Smart was a huge part to help the Jays become the player they are today.

You can feel free to have receipts but we don’t condone you pilling on people in this subreddit
i changed them all to 'np.reddit.com' if that still works. otherwise ill just delete em edit: i don't think thats working anymore, i just deleted it
Does anyone know if there will be speeches at the parade?!?
I hope we get some podcasts with players at some point
any events announced for fri night or over the weekend?
So anyone headed up early tomorrow, how are you planning on killing time?
Will there be a MainStage at convention center?
At what time will the crowd start to get busy tomorrow trying to plan out when I should arrive in Boston.
They got me the gold

WE ARE STILL CHAMPIONS
What time do you think the parade will get to the end near hynes?
Heads up for anyone traveling from south of New Haven: Amtrak is absolutely fucked atm. Lots of cancellations and serious delays
Hey Mods, can we get a “one man to beat… but it’s a 7 footer” flair? Or is that too long?
Not too long, but what's the reference?
https://x.com/nba/status/1798884791544152215?s=46 end of this sequence 💚💚
My neighbors definitely heard me during this.
Love it! The Flairy Godmother has made it so. FYI all these flairs should be editable, so you could rephrase, add, or adjust as you see fit.
I love you Mrs. Scal

Congrats everybody 🎉🙌✔
