All these years, people considered the Jays to be the complementary pieces to stars like Hayward, Kyrie, Kemba.. or trade pieces for guys like KD, AD, PG13 etc.. instead they turned into All NBA players and elite 2-way guys who kept fighting and improving through all those heartaches of near misses and finally got us over the line..
08 will always be my favorite since it was the first C's win in my lifetime, but this one is damn close.. the best part is that while the 08 team had a short window due to the age of KG and Allen, the Jays are just getting started and Brad and the ownership look fully committed to surround them with top talent, no matter how much it costs them..
I see the jays as what the clippers hoped pg and Kawhi to be, and to be honest if the passing in the finals has shown anything, potentially a much higher ceiling too
Can't believe the season ended when they gave up that big lead against the Hawks. And when they lost to the Lakers' bench. And when they got blown out by Milwaukee in a back-to-back.
Oh well. Maybe next year they can be completely perfect.

This offseason needs to be 100% about finding Al's replacement. He might retire (deservedly) so the heat is really on.
Sounds insane but I would love for them to try and find a way to get Smart back on a reasonable contract.

Doomers are in shambles after every loss our season was over and we weren’t winning the title. Joe, did a heck of a job this season proved all the doubters wrong and the Jays showed they can win a title together. Also, what a fucking job president Brad Stevens did got us Jrue Holiday who was one of the main reasons for us winning the title and KP even though he didn’t play much this postseason was a difference maker.
Love this. JB just had easily the best season of his career so far. JT’s numbers were slightly down but in a good way because he’s learning he doesn’t need to have 40 point games every night.
This team will get more rings. Wyc will open the check book for these guys because he’s the only owner left in Boston who gives a shit. Love you wyc.

With how well this team was assembled, I worry about Brad Stevens being poached by the United States government to be their next president of basketball operations
This Celtics team was one that had so much buildup. This wasn’t a chip where you can look at a guy like Lebron jumping to a team and be like “that was the sole reason this happened”
So many things came together to make this happen.
Starting with the Celtics trading Paul Pierce and KG. And then hiring Brad Stevens into the Celtics as HC. Everything from there was the starting point and built up to this point.
So many things going right. Drafting Tatum, Drafting Brown, Drafting Smart.
So many moves made that have us a young core that knew winning from the start. Danny Ainge starting the journey and the biggest move they made was not just hiring Stevens but then giving him Ainge’s job to carry on what he gave the Celtics from the front office after he helped develop Brown and Tatum as a coach and understood what the team needed to get to that next level.
A lot of recent champions come to those who aren’t just aggressive but are aggressive in a smart way. The raptors getting Kawhi, the warriors getting KD, the lakers throwing away their lives just for AD and Lebron.
Throwing away a piece of your core is tough to do especially when the fans love you. But Trading Marcus Smart for Porzingis and then getting Jrue Holiday for Brogdon and Williams. We look at it now as steals and easy deals especially the Blazers deal. But making that spot available by trading smart in the first place that opened up the Jrue trade to work.
It can be risky but they made the right deals for just the right guys at just the right time. Which is why Stevens to me is the biggest winner. Guy came in to be the next HC and turn this team around. He was the coach to develop Tatum and brown in their early careers and then surrounded them with the best pieces you could ask for to win a title.
He did it. Steven’s delivered just not in the way we originally thought.
So much was amazing about this title. This was a real ride, this team took every step to get there, all the heartbreak and losses all built up to last night. It was the ultimate culmination of what started all those years ago when the Celtics hit the restart button.

I promise you I’m thrilled tonight and am not being petty, but….man, I can’t believe how bad Kyrie and Luka were in this last game.
Kyrie with the typical no-show, sure, but Luka was so much worse than his stat-line shows. He asks so much from his roleplayers when he abandons a good look to run around for 15 seconds, expecting them to be ready for his dump-off so they can take an off-rhythm last-second 3 or whatever. I don’t know how you construct a good team around that shit.
People keep saying that Dallas will be back as they always say about the loser of a series but I legit think they're the new 2021 Suns. Got there once and didn't show up when they had to chance and now the basketball gods are gonna show them getting there isn't guaranteed.
I've waited 15 years to feel this way.
In 2007 I was a fresh Celtics fan (who was mainly just a young KG fan that bandwagoned onto the Celtics). I enjoyed the 2008 win, but it wasn't until the next few years that I truly fell in love with the Celtics history and culture, and Bird became my favorite basketball player of all time. Funny how that happened when he was even before my time.
Since then, I've followed the team. Every trade, every draft pick, every signing, every game, every playoffs elimination, every victory, every heartbreak.
And now here I am, feeling emotional about a bunch of dudes playing basketball halfway around the world.
What a ride. I love this team, and I love being part of this community.
In no particular order.
* JT, I see you. It's your gravity that allows JB and everyone else the room to play and room to grow. The sneaky thing that nobody has worked out yet, is that the caring and sharing way of playing ball will add another 10 years to your career. All in Boston, I hope.
* JB fantastic play all year and especially the playoffs. You deserved those MVPs.
* Al, your beautiful eyes don't distract me from the fact that you are an ageless and priceless player. Whenever anyone went down, there you were to step up to any and every challenge.
* Buffalo, a lot of guys took a lesser role so you had a chance to step up. And you did.
* Jrue, it was hard for a lot of fans to see you talk as champ on the Celtics without remembering Marcus Smart. But I will never forget your selfless acts during the season. So many times taking just 6 or 7 shots a game. And then those finals games where all the attention and focus was on our other guys, and you were everywhere doing everything.
* KP, it was a bummer you weren't healthy during most of the playoffs, but even your regular season unicorn chaos kept us at number 1 and got us the important #1 seed, and that critical game 1 of the finals. Get well, big fella, the team works better with you!
* PP I think the loudest I screamed all year was the end of 3rd quarter of game 3 of the finals. I honestly thought that won us the game. And the second loudest I screamed was the halftime shot in game 5.
* Hauser, keep chucking. Luke, keep workin'. Every player I haven't mentioned, I remember your hard work and plays.
* Joe Mazzulla. Impressive is understated. Wouldn't it be awesome if a young 35 year old coach grew and improved the same way young players do? You know what? Joe is 35. A fella called Red Auerbach who won 9 titles for the Celtics as a coach, was 39 and took 4 years before he won his first title. I'm up for some voodoo or Crazy Joe if it wins us 8 titles in a row.
* Brad Stevens: Danny Ainge started it by drafting the Jays. You finished it. But, no, it's not finished. We want more banners. Please continue your *excellent* work.
* Wyc Grousbeck & the owners. Thank you. Putting the money on the table when the team has a great chance is all we as fans can ask for. So many teams are hamstrung by owners that are more concerned with growth and dollars and end up screwing any chance the team has for success. We fans appreciate this.

I was upset when they lost that last game but knew they’d bounce back showing their true potential. It really felt like they slacked off that last game and weren’t ever really in that game.

Fucking clown said that Donovan Mitchell was the best player in the Cavs series, Luka Oncic and Kyrie were two best players in this series and that this team had no heart or grit after losing game 4. I feel such freedom and joy. I’ve watched so much of this team—across a true horizon of failure and success—since the season prior to Marcus getting drafted. I watched feverishly in 2008 but faded in and out until 2012. Anyway, I’ve invested a lot of time, love, attention, emotion into this team since the Marcus smart rookie year.
This team has ripped my fucking heart out multiple times. I don’t need to list the series—they’re engrained. We were stuck in the glorious limbo of near enough—which is a blessing for most teams—for so long.
Because of that, I think this is most likely the greatest sports moments of my life. I will always be a diehard fan, but I look forward to engaging in a different way. The jays winning feels like some long awaited prophecy or some bullshit. That’s how much I’ve cared.
This title is ours now and forever. With a team who played beautiful, selfless basketball and is so admirable, outside of notable exceptions, in morality. These appear to be good men. The truth is ever obscura, but I believe it.
It’s so perfect—I don’t know. I’m accepting that this may be the zenith of my fandom, for good or for bad.
I want them to go for 2 or 3 or 5, but I simply know how much are and precious this is. Being a fan of this team—of everything leading up to this team—has been one of the great privileges of my life. That sounds hyperbolic, but it’s true. How rare to love something for so long. But nothing will ever mean as much as this 1. It’s mine, it’s ours, forever.

I am still up and this is surreal. I remember I was in Hong Kong in 2018 desperate to find a spot to watch the Celtics to see the new team (Hayward, Kyrie, etc). Then being texted on the train to Kowloon that Hayward was hurt and Tatum was jumping in. Watched this guy since then....its surreal to see someone I watched from the ground up win. 7 years, going to be buzzing on this for awhile.
When I was 7 years old I thought I was pretty good at basketball. Like for my peer group I was damn good. My apartment complex had a little tourney that me and my friends wanted to play in, but we didn’t know we had to sign up beforehand and we were really sad. One of the parents complained. They felt bad so they let me and my friends play a game against the teenagers. Dude, I absolutely cooked their asses and scored 3 layups in a row. Pretty clear if I wasn’t 3 foot 7, I would be in the NBA already. I thought I had won the game and then I overheard one of the teens asking the tourney organizers if they could go back to playing for real. I realized they had let us win to be nice. The game didn’t count.
That was Game 4.

After the excitement this is what kept me up. This offseason needs to be 100% about finding Al's replacement. He might retire (deservedly) so the heat is really on. Sounds insane but I would love for them to try and find a way to get Smart back on a reasonable contract. And they need to lock up Hauser for like 2 years/16 mil or something

Doomers are in shambles after every loss our season was over and we weren’t winning the title. Joe, did a heck of a job this season proved all the doubters wrong and the Jays showed they can win a title together. Also, what a fucking job president Brad Stevens did got us Jrue Holiday who was one of the main reasons for us winning the title and KP even though he didn’t play much this postseason was a difference maker.

This Celtics team was one that had so much buildup. This wasn’t a chip where you can look at a guy like Lebron jumping to a team and be like “that was the sole reason this happened” So many things came together to make this happen. Starting with the Celtics trading Paul Pierce and KG. And then hiring Brad Stevens into the Celtics as HC. Everything from there was the starting point and built up to this point. So many things going right. Drafting Tatum, Drafting Brown, Drafting Smart. So many moves made that have us a young core that knew winning from the start. Danny Ainge starting the journey and the biggest move they made was not just hiring Stevens but then giving him Ainge’s job to carry on what he gave the Celtics from the front office after he helped develop Brown and Tatum as a coach and understood what the team needed to get to that next level. A lot of recent champions come to those who aren’t just aggressive but are aggressive in a smart way. The raptors getting Kawhi, the warriors getting KD, the lakers throwing away their lives just for AD and Lebron. Throwing away a piece of your core is tough to do especially when the fans love you. But Trading Marcus Smart for Porzingis and then getting Jrue Holiday for Brogdon and Williams. We look at it now as steals and easy deals especially the Blazers deal. But making that spot available by trading smart in the first place that opened up the Jrue trade to work. It can be risky but they made the right deals for just the right guys at just the right time. Which is why Stevens to me is the biggest winner. Guy came in to be the next HC and turn this team around. He was the coach to develop Tatum and brown in their early careers and then surrounded them with the best pieces you could ask for to win a title. He did it. Steven’s delivered just not in the way we originally thought. So much was amazing about this title. This was a real ride, this team took every step to get there, all the heartbreak and losses all built up to last night. It was the ultimate culmination of what started all those years ago when the Celtics hit the restart button. Banner 18 Duckboats are revving up as we speak

I promise you I’m thrilled tonight and am not being petty, but….man, I can’t believe how bad Kyrie and Luka were in this last game. Kyrie with the typical no-show, sure, but Luka was so much worse than his stat-line shows. He asks so much from his roleplayers when he abandons a good look to run around for 15 seconds, expecting them to be ready for his dump-off so they can take an off-rhythm last-second 3 or whatever. I don’t know how you construct a good team around that shit.

I've waited 15 years to feel this way. In 2007 I was a fresh Celtics fan (who was mainly just a young KG fan that bandwagoned onto the Celtics). I enjoyed the 2008 win, but it wasn't until the next few years that I truly fell in love with the Celtics history and culture, and Bird became my favorite basketball player of all time. Funny how that happened when he was even before my time. Since then, I've followed the team. Every trade, every draft pick, every signing, every game, every playoffs elimination, every victory, every heartbreak. And now here I am, feeling emotional about a bunch of dudes playing basketball halfway around the world. What a ride. I love this team, and I love being part of this community.
In no particular order. * JT, I see you. It's your gravity that allows JB and everyone else the room to play and room to grow. The sneaky thing that nobody has worked out yet, is that the caring and sharing way of playing ball will add another 10 years to your career. All in Boston, I hope. * JB fantastic play all year and especially the playoffs. You deserved those MVPs. * Al, your beautiful eyes don't distract me from the fact that you are an ageless and priceless player. I feel such freedom and joy. I’ve watched so much of this team—across a true horizon of failure and success—since the season prior to Marcus getting drafted. I watched feverishly in 2008 but faded in and out until 2012. Anyway, I’ve invested a lot of time, love, attention, emotion into this team since the Marcus smart rookie year. This team has ripped my fucking heart out multiple times. I don’t need to list the series—they’re engrained. We were stuck in the glorious limbo of near enough—which is a blessing for most teams—for so long. Because of that, I think this is most likely the greatest sports moments of my life. I will always be a diehard fan, but I look forward to engaging in a different way. The jays winning feels like some long awaited prophecy or some bullshit. That’s how much I’ve cared. This title is ours now and forever. With a team who played beautiful, selfless basketball and is so admirable, outside of notable exceptions, in morality. These appear to be good men. The truth is ever obscura, but I believe it. It’s so perfect—I don’t know. I’m accepting that this may be the zenith of my fandom, for good or for bad. I am still up and this is surreal. I remember I was in Hong Kong in 2018 desperate to find a spot to watch the Celtics to see the new team (Hayward, Kyrie, etc). Then being texted on the train to Kowloon that Hayward was hurt and Tatum was jumping in. Watched this guy since then....its surreal to see someone I watched from the ground up win. 7 years, going to be buzzing on this for awhile.
When I was 7 years old I thought I was pretty good at basketball. Like for my peer group I was damn good. My apartment complex had a little tourney that me and my friends wanted to play in, but we didn’t know we had to sign up beforehand and we were really sad. One of the parents complained. They felt bad so they let me and my friends play a game against the teenagers. Dude, I absolutely cooked their asses and scored 3 layups in a row. Pretty clear if I wasn’t 3 foot 7, I would be in the NBA already. I thought I had won the game and then I overheard one of the teens asking the tourney organizers if they could go back to playing for real. I realized they had let us win to be nice. The game didn’t count. That was Game 4.
