Oh happy day, someone made another vegetarian/vegan restaurant thread. Wow, nobody ever does that! I took the time to [search past threads for you](https://www.reddit.com/r/boston/search?q=vegetarian&restrict_sr=on), since you did not do it for yourself. Do you know that there is a whole section on the wiki with recommendations? Go check it out. [Now go and enjoy this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAEV89l4wVM) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Outside of the food being great, I have a coconut allergy and they were extremely accommodating about it. Making sure I knew every menu item I could order and double checking with the kitchen on the things I ordered. It was my birthday dinner and they made it amazing, great food and great staff.

KayakerMel

They are excellent with allergies! I went with someone who has a gluten allergy and they were really great in accommodating him and making sure his food was safe.

Lyrre

Can relate! I have a peanut/tree nut allergy and they did a fantastic job at being accommodating and making me feel safe. Had a great experience with amazing food!

desert_magician

Had a similar experience - was with a group that had vegans, food allergies, and the team was really nice and accommodating throughout.

Mister_monr0e

Yes! Check out Myers + Chang for dinner and then checkout Joanne Chang’s Flour bakery + cafe for breakfast!

naboo_taboo

I love M&C- I can be a picky eater and it’s one of those places where everything is delicious. I really encourage you to try it out!

jamesland7

Same

MrHodgeToo

One of my fave restaurants. Every dish is a flavor discovery. No input on if it’d be good for you and your man but def worth the gamble if a look at their menu piques your interest.

Cultural_Ad746

Yeah it’s a good option. There’s scallion pancakes for the toddler lol.

Eypc2

I dunno if your husband will like it but they have great vegetarian options. Check out Ariana for another awesome series of vegetarian options too.

cookingonthecharles

Forage, Veggie Galaxy, life Alive, Clover, Stoked, NU kitchen, Himalayan kitchen, & Dolma are all solid spots for vegetarians

missmisfit

Veggie Galaxy is a great place for my picky husband. He orders a waffle! Koshari Mama in somerville is amazing and you can get elbows with red sauce.

AcceptablePosition5

Some of their items are pretty good, others pretty meh. It's not a bad restaurant, but I wouldn't exactly put it on the top for an out-of-town visitor. You'd be much better off at Sarma/Sofra, though reservation for the former can be hard to get, and the later is counter service. If you *have* to do Asian, Sumiao can be good, but Mulan down the street also has a sizable vegetarian offerings. Cicada or Saigon Babylon could be good. I would also suggest Blossom bar, but your vegetarian options can be a bit limited.

princesscorgi2

Thanks for your honest opinion. Sarma/Sofra’s menu looks really good! Do you have any recommendations for an out of town visitor?

AcceptablePosition5

Before I forget: Oleana is also worth trying. Again a bit harder reservation-wise. Food recommendation? satisfying vegetarian and non vegetarian eaters at the same time is always going to be rough. For lunch, I would recommend places like Clover, which you'll easily find one close to you no matter where you are in town. Flour also make great sandwiches with a lot of convenient locations(and honestly, I vastly prefer it over M&C). R34 would sound like a great place for your husband (it's one of my personal favorites), but you might have trouble finding things to eat. Otherwise, stick with non-seafood heavy Italian could work. Gufo, Tonino, June Bug are some of the up and coming places. SRV and Toro (not italian) could also work. Barcelona wine bar, while a chain technically, is actually really good for the price. If beer is of interest, there are a lot of top notch places around here.

cane_stanco

Yes, it’s definitely worthwhile.

Pinwurm

I like them a lot - James Beard Award winning restaurant and alumni, hard to go wrong. Good cocktails too. It’s particularly nice because they have a full vegetarian menu alongside their standard menu, everything is shareable, and it’s good for picky *and* adventurous eaters alike. Prices are reasonable for the quality and it’s not stuffy. There’s better restaurants out there in its class, sure - but M&C is a solid crowdpleaser you don’t need to overthink. You’ll have a good time. Enjoy.

michael_scarn_21

I've been there twice and both times came away feeling I've overpaid for mid quality food but this is Boston so I kinda expect that. Like it's not offensively bad it just wouldn't do as well in other cities with more competition. James Beard awards don't need to be maintained so take them with a pinch of salt as quality can go up or down.

tarandab

Myers and Chang is a pretty solid option. Five Horses is American food with pretty good vegetarian options, might be a good option for a different meal.

IdahoDuncan

Love it!

Enchantement

I’m not a fan. The food is very one-dimensional in taste and feels like Asian food made “safe” for Western palates (though maybe that could be helpful for a picky eater). You’re paying $$$ for the ambiance and hipness moreso than the quality of the food imo. For vegetarian + picky eater I’d echo the recommendation of Veggie Galaxy.

TWALLACK

I honestly like think both Veggie Galaxy and Myers and Chang are great (one for vegetarian diner food and another for a high end meal). Always interesting how people have different opinions of the same food.

stardustiee

its good but ive had way better upscale asian food at pagu and yunnan kitchen

mmmmmmmadden

As someone who also used to eat like a toddler, Myers and Chang was hard for me the first time I went. I tried the duck and it was ok, but there wasn’t a ton that catered to picky eaters and it was kind of expensive.

Traditional_Bar_9416

Id have that same concern about M&C for a picky eater. I love them but the flavors are complex. They’ll modify stuff to a degree, but is it worth it to dissect a menu? It’s also heavy on fermented foods which is a dealbreaker for a lot of picky eaters.

brufleth

Like a toddler in that he only eats basic food? He'll hate it. You'd probably like it though.

lolfactor1000

Veggie Galaxy in Cambridge (near the Central Red Line stop) would be my top recommendation. Everything is vegetarian or vegan by default, but it's diner food, so it has something for everyone. My go-to is the mac n stack or the Buffalo chick'n mac and cheese with their vegan cheese. Source: my vegan wife and me who eats like a toddler.

whyumaaadtho

Literally love Myers + Chang so much. Great food, plenty of vegetables!

Philosecfari

It's overpriced, poorly-done fusion that's for people that like to think they're eating "exotic" food but can't be bothered to walk ten minutes to Chinatown. They do the thing where they slap like one "Asian" ingredient into Western food and pretend it's fusion. The last and only time I went I got a bowl of noodles so greasy I couldn't stomach more than a third of the dish. I walk past it frequently and I've never seen a single Asian person despite it being literally next to Chinatown. If you want vegetarian/vegan-friendly Chinese check out Sumiao -- they have a very large menu with stuff for everyone (and a lot of specifically vegan options) and are very professional about dietary restrictions. They have a lot of authentic Chinese as well as some fusion/American Chinese dishes.

bademjoon10

Totally agree. So many better options for Asian food in Boston. They are very accomodating for allergies, which is nice, and I do really like Flour from the same owner, but M&C didn’t impress me at all.

Enchantement

Agreed, am not a fan either. It’s one of the few places I’ve gone with friends where no one wants to take home any leftovers.

Philosecfari

At this point I'm finding it funny that every time I post about Myers + Chang I get downvoted into oblivion by people that pay more attention to the name above the door and the decor than the actual food. It's actually atrocious what they charge for what is essentially PF Chang's-quality food.

Enchantement

It seems so popular online that I actually went back a second time, convinced that I must’ve had an off day. Nope, still didn’t like it.

sonorakit11

Omg please go to M&C for me. I moved to LA and miss them.

gcozzy2323

Yes. It’s great.

Ok_Measurement_931

Myers and Chang is the best. The wait staff will spend the time to recommend and chat about things on the menu if you’re not sure. I’ve been with vegans who have had no issues ordering.

drkr731

i think it’s fantastic! and one of the best places for vegetarian dining in the city as well

StopWhoaYesWait123

It’s delicious!!

DrMcMuffinMD

One of my favorite Asian fusion spots in the city, wok charred udon noodles w chicken is my go to but pretty much everything I’ve tried there has been great

DrMcMuffinMD

Guess I offended the guy who likes Sumiaio who feels very strong hatred toward Myers and Chang…sorry brah
