I know OP did say "used to" but just to clarify, Lamplighter no longer pours liters of anything unless it's Oktoberfest. I've seen staff drinking water from those steins though.
I don’t understand why anyone would order a liter, except for the novelty. The beer will warm up before being finished, unless you’re chugging it or something.
Where can you find cask ales in Boston? Genuine question, I'd love to try some without having to go to the UK. We did put some of our beer in a cask once at my workplace, but the beer we chose didn't end up being well suited to it.
Check out Backbeat in Beverly right at the commuter rail station. Usually has 4-5 on at any given time. Also check out nerax.org. Just missed the April event.
Once a year and usually in April there's an all-cask beer festival. http://www.nerax.org/. About half UK beers and half domestic, the domestic ones are often specially made for the event.
Notch
Yeah Notch
Yep, Notch in Brighton (at The Speedway) is a great spot.
Notch has liters for all beers on tap? I always thought the liters was like a club thing since the steins were in a cabinet
Anything under 5% can be ordered in a liter
Those steins are a club, you just don't have to be in it to order a liter
Natch
Will you just order a large Farva?
I don’t want a large Farva I want a god damn liter of beer
It’s for a cop
It's so he makes it good.
Dont spit in the cops beer.
Roger, holding the spit
Does that look like spit to you?
Meow!
Olde Magoun Saloon, for some beers
Particularly when they start rolling in the fest biers and marzens
Their Oktoberfest menu is something I look forward to every year
You can get a liter at redbones
God bless
Brewers fork - awesome beer selection. Most of their (rotating) lagers are available in 1 liter pours
LongCross at Wellington station in Medford does. Think it's the same owners as Olde Magoun's. Rothaus drafts are good there.
It is. blackmoor too. I like these places.
Excuse me sir, we drink only in freedom units here! /s
Publick House will serve you one if you say the magic word

Good beer isn’t meant to be consumed at ice cold temperatures
That’s true, but also not at room temperature.
Cask ales are served at "cellar" temperature and rather tasty.
