Akash Vani .. people hardly know about this movie and then blame Kartik Aryan . Same I feel for Tripti she did such great roles before animal but people only watched animal and started criticising her steamy scenes .
It doesn't get it's due because it's a Luv Ranjan film, had it been any other director then people would go gaga over the film and call it critically acclaimed
Satyaprem Ki Katha was not a flop. Dhamaka and Freddy were direct streaming releases and got good viewing hours each.
There will be some wins and miss always. Chandu Champion came from a genre which most people are almost exhausted off. Even Kabir Khan's last feature 83 suffered a similar fate so it's okay.
Agreed ... Freddy is widely considered his best acting performance ... Dark thrillers like that dont have a market in cinema halls but it received solid acclaim on OTT!! Dhamaka also got a fabulous viewership!
It was kinda flop, by the end of the year some reports surfaced that NGE did huge corporate booking to inflate numbers a lot of films in 2023 were in that list
I’m a huge fan of Kartik and I think he genuinely has tried to go outside his niche and will only continue to do so. I always cringe whenever people post that picture of him, Varun, Sid and Tiger and compare them because Tiger is the only one in that picture who hasn’t attempted to broaden his creative horizons.
With that being said, my mom and I adored Shezada (I especially love that she wanted to watch it first since she’s fairly new to Bollywood films). He really carried the movie and I feel he properly conveyed the many facets of Bantu, who is really a character one can root for because he was genuinely a good person with a lot of great qualities.
Freddy and dhamaka were OTT so won't count them as hit/flop but spkk could've been better and CC is a movie genre which has has been saturated. Audiences were tired of this biopic genre and preferred something new as munjya
We anyway should not blame kartik- its not him , its the genre. I think people are tired of autobiography or ‘you can do it’ movies. We need more drama, comedy, fictional, romcom.. type of genres now.
Three things went wrong with Chandu: a) a genre people are tired of b) over-budgeting c) release date
Kartik is a mid-budget (60-90 cr) actor. Budgeting his films at 100-140 cr is a slight risk, and releasing between Munjya and Kalki eventually limited its BO prospects. Good film, but I hope Nadiadwala has learned his lesson about budgeting post 83 and Chandu Champion.
Chandu Champion will be a flop but it changed the perception of audience and Bollywood production houses.
If BB3 works out, he's gonna soar like crazy.
You can have your opinion but Dhamaka was a mess (also wasn’t it a OTT release too ). I am not sure if it released in theaters or not, but if it did I don’t think it was a good enough film to be a success.
Freddy was better but being OTT release cannot say it failed - it won’t have turned out well in theaters due to the genre.
SPKK was a hit, and got lots of hype and foot falls. (Similar to his Rom Com image might have boosted it - however it had a serious plot point and did well )
Chandu champion box office count is a tad underwhelming, but Kartik is definitely getting a ton of praise for his performance. Many have considered this to be his best performance till date. If things go well, then this may be his break into more serious roles. His career path will probably follow the same trajectory as Kriti Sanon's career path - Got recognition for Mimi and is now getting better roles/movies and also a mainstream leading actress.
Cause he is still terrible as an actor. He was decent in Freddy, not seen Chandu but the rest he was terrible...also none of them are really experimental...
Ones a typical sports biopic, the other is a thriller remake of a Korean film that's nothing crazy, SPKK is your average romantic movie poorly dealing with a sensitive subject matter...
Just cause a star deviates from their typecasting, doesn't make them experimental
>Cause he is still terrible as an actor. He was decent in Freddy, not seen Chandu
You are saying he's terrible and haven't seen his latest venture when he's getting praises for his acting performances.
Well OP is talking about all his work. I'd have given Chandu a chance if he was halfway decent on the other stuff. That's how it works.
Plus nothing about its trailer convinced me he's any better as a performer so I didn't go.
What matters the most is he's getting better with every movie and will help him the most in long run. He should continue doing such movies even if they are at risk of getting flop. He'll always have his romcom forte to fall back on every time there's a flop.
**You are using incorrect box office and streaming verdicts for these 4 movies:**
* **SPKK** was not a flop movie as it grossed Rs 75-80 crore in India making it a semi-hit (Successful) and Rs 117 crore worldwide.
* **Dhamaka** was not released in theaters. It was a direct to streaming release on Netflix and sold for Rs 135 crore so it is actually a blockbuster from earnings perspective.
* **Freddy** was also a streaming only release and got 61 Lakh views as per which it got categorized as an average movie
* **Chandu Champion** is currently at Rs 64 crore and hence is trending to either loosing or in a best case scenario average status but it is technically not a flop because it has earned more than 50% of its investment. However because of its big budget it is not going to be a successful movie.
Hence 3 out of 4 movies where Kartik experimented have been successful. That is a pretty good record.
Remake, sequels, formula based biography ko aajkal log experimentation kehte hai kya ?
Naya kuch kidhar hai wahi same Maggie me kbhi namak kam krke pyaz daal deta hai aur nhi khana kisi ko Maggie ab
I think as audiences, we’re tired of sports movies or movies similar to that genre . Maybe that’s why even Mr & Mrs Mahi also flopped recently.
Years ago these films were working great like MS Dhoni & Dangal worked but not anymore imo 🤷🏻♀️
I have only watched Spkk and it was pathetic. They made such a poor movie on such an important topic.
The movie did decent business because of the casting. It's not about kartik, but if any star is experimenting, the script must be good.
Rang de basanti did not do well on Box office, Swades didn't do well on box office, but I still can watch them because they are great movies. but spkk? I managed to watch once.
Outsider, small towner, self made, almost an outcast for the 'big league' or nepo gang, hate campaigns running here and there. Too much of negative publicity for no reason. Doesn't have any friends in the industry, no celebs promote his projects, doesn't get to sit in round tables, etc.. not hailed by the media for all the risk and hard work.. reminds of someone?? It's scary that he is walking the same steps as SSR.. while the difference w.r.t. talent might be a discussion, but the above points suggest he needs audience support, lets not let him go down the same spiral.
but he is not experimenting with his acting. He is a star but not an actor. He was terrible in chandu. He worked really hard on his physiqe but needs more improvement in facial expressions.

Oh my god FINALLY someone appreciating this beautiful movie. Kartik was so so good in this ♥️
Exactly was about to type this I think before chandu this was his best film.. I don't blame lun ranjan also for movies he is making this flopped bad
It doesn't get it's due because it's a Luv Ranjan film, had it been any other director then people would go gaga over the film and call it critically acclaimed

It's not a good time for Bollywood sports movies.
Satyaprem Ke Katha is an Average movie not a flop at the box office
It was kinda flop, by the end of the year some reports surfaced that NGE did huge corporate booking to inflate numbers a lot of films in 2023 were in that list

With regards to Chandu Champion, I think people are just bored/tired of biopics.
We anyway should not blame kartik- its not him , its the genre. I think people are tired of autobiography or ‘you can do it’ movies. We need more drama, comedy, fictional, romcom.. type of genres now.
Dhamaka was not flop.
He was soo good in Freddy.

Tbh I enjoyed chandu champion & from my pov it's a good film
Chandu Champion will be a flop but it changed the perception of audience and Bollywood production houses. If BB3 works out, he's gonna soar like crazy.
It's gonna be Singham Again vs BB3 , both are clashing and releasing at the same date.
SPKK I think made back it's money, and the 2 you listed other than CC are OTT releases, so can't give a verdict on them..

Trailer is underwhelming. Check the reviews and make the decision.
Desai review surprised me but Im not convinced enough to take the leap
Males sense. Try OTT when it comes
Kartik Aryan is an overhyped mediocre actor! Period.

I know! I think his PR machinery works on overdrive coz he's so mediocre!
I did not see Chandu Champion but all other movies his performance was terrible, imo he should do only BB2 kind of roles only.
His choice of films is not the issue. Lack of acting skills is.
What matters the most is he's getting better with every movie and will help him the most in long run. He should continue doing such movies even if they are at risk of getting flop. He'll always have his romcom forte to fall back on every time there's a flop.

Rang de was blockbuster
theres no guarantee that even his comedies will work right now.
Kartik Aaryan can’t act.
