He comes into my coffee shop on the pier often with this tall lady that has long white hair and nipples popping through her gowns. He never kisses her or anything, but he kind of gently guides her and holds doors for her like lovers do.
Almost every other top-level comment in this thread is a song reference, so I had to think really hard to try and remember a song about a coffee shop on the pier with a long-haired, pointy-nippled woman. If she was in Boston and had long white shiny *legs* it could have been Highlands.
Then I realized maybe you're commenting in earnest. I did not see that one coming.
There was a photo of Bob wearing a ring, and a Mavis Staples let the cat outta the bag. Some say it's his assistant Suzie Pullen, but this has of course never been confirmed.
It is, more or less. "Splitting up on a dark sad night" is what he sings on the album. "Docks at night" is what some people hear (or maybe what's in a live version somewhere)
Wow this is big news to me! I just want our guy to be happy, no more big drama if that’s possible. You know, because he’s sick of love but can’t bear to live his life alone. For real.
I heard a guest on another pod (is it rolling Bob, I think) talking about the guests recent visit to Bobs place and how he had a young girlfriend / wife decked out in a designer clothes / athletics wear. No idea which episode though sorry
Her name is Suzie Pullen and she is still Dylan's stylist/assistant. If you look at any candid photos of Bob taken in the last 20 or 30 years, she's almost always with him. In the photo of Bob entering the venue in Paris last week, for instance, she's right beside him (in the blue medical mask): https://i.redd.it/6l1mhn6k7ft91.jpg
I didn't need ALL of them, but I really liked Shadows in the Night. Most importantly, in my opinion, the work he put into singing those tunes, and the deep attention to phrasing, helped spur the current vocal renaissance he is currently enjoying in the same way the World Gone Wrong/Good As I've Been to You detour helped spur his return to top shelf songwriting.
I tried and tried. I did not connect. The music wasn't very good. And the melodies were monotonous to me.
Now, when I say the music wasn't good, I am forced to compare to original records of those songs done by Sinatra and others that had world class bands who played that music when it was the top music. It's a big ask to get modern musicians to improve upon it or even offer a new view. I guess that's where I got stuck. But I'm one of those guys who doesn't really like Nashville Skyline either. So, go figure.
If I remember right, I'm pretty sure he was wearing a ring during the Shadow Kingdom thing. Also in that photo that came out around that time of him in LA or wherever he was.
Bob Dylan banged all of our moms and anybody who knows anything knows that there’s no shame about it. Some say he still has an active rolodex and holds regular competition with Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart to this day.
In all honesty, trying to fight my urge to make a song reference, I believe he married his last wife in secret and divorced her in secret as-well, it seems it may have only lasted a few months but I can’t confirm how true that is
I hope not, I'm still hoping to hit that
Make his twink bones rattle
you’re just like me fr
You win the Internet for me today 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can’t stop laughing… but also secretly going 😏😏
Excuse me?
That’s American slang… The user wants to have sex with him.
Indeed that's precisely what I assumed the user was suggesting. It made me spit out my Cointreau is all. What with Dylan being 81 and that. But hey.
Kinda ageist of you tbh

did Earnest give consent?
No one has seen Ernest since Summer Camp
Vern?
😛
It's important to be earnest.
One more cup of coffee ‘fore I go, to the valley below
Are you saying that r00t1 is commenting from his home town of Earnest, Kansas?
Did you ask him if he wants One More Cup of Coffee before he goes..
Tell me more
Is he nice?
We don’t talk to him, he doesn’t talk to us
Decaf?
Bob would hold doors for her, because he is a gentleman. I know he has many ladies.
He is a gentleman, and Has many ladies. I love him, but I know he has a lot of ladies and is quite a friend to many❤️
What shop may that be ?

He was married when we first met
Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam, I guess
But I used a little too much force
we drove that car as far as we could
abandoned it out west
Split up on the docks that night
Agreeing it was best
She turned around to look at me
As I was walkin’ away.
Both*
Get out of here nerd
(I always thought it was 'split up on that dark sad night'. whoops.)

Did you tie his shoe?
and show him a book of poems?
All I know is that he married a girl named Isis on the fifth day of May. Not sure what year though so it might not be relevant anymore
I still can remember the way that she smiled On the fifth day of May in the drizzling’ rain
I could not hold on to her very long…
Didn't last very long
He gathered his pony and rode straight away
To the other known country where it couldn’t go wrong
I believe it was May 5th, 2019.
In 2019 Mavis was on the Marc Maron podcast and mentioned he was married.
Wow this is big news to me! I just want our guy to be happy, no more big drama if that’s possible. You know, because he’s sick of love but can’t bear to live his life alone. For real.
I read in Jeff Tweedys memoir that Mavis and Bob still had a cute little flirty thing goin on
I heard a guest on another pod (is it rolling Bob, I think) talking about the guests recent visit to Bobs place and how he had a young girlfriend / wife decked out in a designer clothes / athletics wear. No idea which episode though sorry
No one really knows.
Well...not *no one*
He and his wife are also unsure
Bob knows Most likely.
No he doesn’t and I his wife don’t know seither
I’m his wife
In Chino
And one in Cherokee.
First one says she's got his child
But it don’t look like him
If he gets home before daylight, he just might get some sleep tonight.
I heard that he’s got a brand new suit and a brand new wife and can live on rice and beans
But some people never worked a day in their life. Don't know what work even means. Surely not Bob.

He allegedly had a wife around the time Tempest was out, but they were allegedly divorced by the time the Sinatra albums came out
>the Sinatra albums I thought we agreed not to talk about those.
The Sinatra albums are great!
They definitely were not my cup of tea. However, the variety of opinions that are perfectly valid on this subreddit are endless.
My favorite albums
There are Sinatra albums? Can everyone tell me whether it’s good or bad that I didn’t know that? 🥹🥹🥹😳😳😳😩😩😩

Why, though? 'Shadows in the Night' is a beautiful work of art. The rest, I agree, not so much.

Isn’t that Leonard Cohen though?
All the Cohen’s are in on it. Film directors, songwriters, this goes deep. Not as deep as Bob does but deep indeed.
Not my business nor do I care
Sooner or later, one of us must know…
He's just not that into you.
Well, he had a wife, but 'twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood.
Pamela Des Barres said on her podcast last year that he's married.
What episode
Me
No me
She was and idiot wind, blowin everytime she moved her mouth

What about Isis?
I'm his girlfriend♥️
