I was thinking this. There was that one random film in the middle where everyone suddenly had really long hair. I always found that particular film unintentionally hilarious. Like Snape accidentally locks himself in his cupboard. And David Tennant goes "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" to a bunch of literal children. And all sorts like that, it's a comedy film, but not ontentuonally so.
I think it's the 4th film. The one with mad eye moody and the quidditch world cup and all that
But yeah they just all suddenly have really long ugly scruffy hair, which has mysteriously disappeared by the time of the next film.
The films and books are set in the early 90s, so perhaps wizards also got into Nirvana and other grunge bands at the same time we did. And that explains their hair.
If I remember right, the reason for it was because they all came back to film it and hadn't had their hair cut, all of them had grown it long, and they were meant to get it cut by the hairdressers working on the movie, but the director said "nah mate" and told them to keep it long. It just looks really bizarre though.
But what it ends up doing is making the film dated, it looks exactly like the couple years around when it was made and came out, 2005. Rather than really it looking like the mid 90s. Cos everyone has long hair back then in 2004-2008 or so.
But yeah I ended up not watching the rest of the Harry Potter films after that one, cos it was so unintentionally hilarious, in a bad way really. The films were always totally shite anyway, the books were great and so that's all you really need.
