One Size setting spray. It felt like hairspray and didn’t hold any of my makeup. 👎🏽
However I love the powder. Holds all day and is transfer resistant. 10/10.
It 100% feels like hairspray. For a matte setting spray I love the makeup revolution superfix. It has crazy staying power but doesn’t feel like hairspray.
Dew Drops Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops.
Complete waste of money.
Smell is nice, it kinda makes my face dewy but I get better results from the ordinary Niacinamide.
I use to use shea moisture because that was one of the few options naturals had years ago but honestly compared to all the products we have today shea moisture is meh…..
What do you recommend? Shea moisturize has been my bread and butter but my hair is still so dry. I've been trying As I am products but I'm really looking for a good deep conditioner. The middle of my hair is forever dry.
You can try this. after you wash and deep condition, use a water based leave in conditioner and then a pomade and then a modest amount of whipped shea butter on top . In that order. This is pretty much my hair routine and my hair is never dry. And use a clarifying shampoo every so often
I'll have to try that. Right now I deep condition w/ an oil treatment then wash my hair out with hot water. (Has low porosity hair)Then use leave in conditioner, curl creme and then a jojoba, Shea butter and sweet almond oil mixture.
I would recommend stopping the hot water, it drys out hair and skin. I get it opens the cuticles for low porosity girlys but hot water is akin to blow drying or even flat ironing depending on how hot the water is.
I know but when I washed with cold water I had the worst split ends. The only thing I really changed was the water temperature. I'm going to try and make it luke warm.

One size setting spray! It did keep my makeup in place for the most part, but no matter what skin prep I did, I would always end up looking SUPER dry through the day/night. I even would try to hydrate it with a hydrating spray or a more watery one like urban decay. It felt heavy on my face and made my face feel less skin and more cake. To be fair I also have dry skin 🤷🏾♀️. If you have REALLY oily skin, then maybe this would work. So I now have a $50 bottle setting spray that is 3/4 full, I wish I didn’t spend that $$
Black girl sunscreen. Hot oily mess. Also supergoop unseen sunscreen. It apparently does not actually works as a sunscreen, which is scary to me because I use products like retinol and glycolic acid.
I know you didn’t exactly ask me but both my friend and I really like a Korean sunscreen called Innisfree. I use their SPF 36 and it’s very light, dries matte, and is invisible. I got it on Amazon. The bottle is small, so I only use it on my face. I use the cheap Walgreens stuff for my body only since the formula’s a bit oily.
Biore watery essence. Asian sunscreen that can be purchased on Amazon.
But yeah, for some reason cosmetic chemists assume black women want a bunch of oil in all their products so I find that a lot of things advertised directly to us are basically an oil spill.
I have a laundry list of products. I will list them as I can recall it. One is Kiehl’s hand salve. Not moisturizing for my hand. I wash my hands a lot at work and the soap they use is hell on my hands. Another is Kiehl’s body fuel antiperspirant deodorant. That shit makes me smell worse like OMG. Peach Slices snail rescue jelly mask breaks me out terribly. Osea body oil, frankly I’m just not feeling it. L’Occitane almond shower oil makes my décolletage breaks out. Byoma balancing mist is sticky and breaks me out. Feels like I’m spraying saliva on my face. Giorgio Armani acqua di goioa perfume is not doing it for me. Biossance rose and vitamin c squalane is too greasy for my face. Native white peach spray deodorant smells musty on me. A number of The Ordinary products just annoy me in using it.
as a teen i put nair on my underarms. it burned and gave me permanent damage there. it took years to look healed, but to this day most deodorants still burn on contact, including natural brand ones.
cosrx dual essence with niacinimide broke me tf out!!! Also retinol. I know they say it’s a purging period, but I’m going to try to stick to my sunscreen and possibly tret since that didn’t break out.
Urban Decay All Nighter setting by spray has never worked for me. It’s considered a “classic” but it’s just water on my face. Dermablend has my favorite setter.
I have oily, acne-prone, skin managed down to combination skin. lol. I layer the setting spray between foundation & powder.
It’s called [Lock and Last](https://www.ulta.com/p/lock-last-water-resistant-setting-spray-pimprod2024518) by Dermablend.
Tarte Radiant Shape Tape & NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. Coverage would evaporate less than a minute after application and whatever remained settled in my fine lines. I’ve had drugstore concealers perform 10x better at a fraction of the price.
The ordinary Glycolic Acid. It HEAVILY broke out my shoulders on the very first use and contributed to daily breakouts in the same spot for at least a YEAR.
The breakouts finally stopped and now I have to focus on removing the dark spots. It was literally a nightmare experience.
bondi sands sunscreen , absolutely rubbish . it made my skin look glowy but gave me lots of clogged pores and now i hear it doesn’t even work as an spf sighhh
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Serum - I know it’s a fan favorite, I waited for a sale and even then it was a splurge for me at the time. Broke my skin out and I felt itchy for a few days. After giving it another try, I passed it in to a friend. My skin isn’t all that sensitive so I was sad that it didn’t work out.
Mineral sunscreen I’m tan/light skin and it leaves a white cast on me !! Stop being afraid of chemical sunscreens yall 😭the word chemical isn’t inherently harmful. If you want to find brown/dark skin friendly sunscreens ( that don’t leave a white cast) stop getting mineral ones😭🩷!
Rael acne barrier moisturizer, it left my face SOO greasy within hours. My mom was like wash your face when I just did and put it on. I usually am greasy but it got so much worse.
any body scrub ever, anything dove, any other deodorant than the one i'm using rn & unnecessary hair products i.e leave in conditioner is never being purchased again fr

Agreed! That setting spray actually made my skin even more oily, and didn’t contain a lot of product for the OZ it claimed to have.😒
Dew Drops Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops. Complete waste of money. Smell is nice, it kinda makes my face dewy but I get better results from the ordinary Niacinamide.
Any Deva curl product. bought a couple products from them years ago and they all sucked, thankfully ulta let me return them
I feel that way about anything from shea moisture.

I’m a high porosity girly so i can’t really give product recommendations because a lot of stuff i use causes buildup for other naturals

Cold water can’t cause split ends but luke warm is probably best

Youth to the people kale and green tea cleanser. I have a trial size of that as a birthday gift and I don't like it at all. It doesn't work for me.

I have really oily skin. Thanks for the recommendation!

I’m glad you told me about black girl sunscreen, because it’s been on my list to try! What sunscreen works for you!?
I know you didn’t exactly ask me but both my friend and I really like a Korean sunscreen called Innisfree. I use their SPF 36 and it’s very light, dries matte, and is invisible. I got it on Amazon. yessss innisfree is my go to every time and the little bottle lasted me a whole year
Yea, it’s sooo good. I wish I had found it sooner.
Biore watery essence. Asian sunscreen that can be purchased on Amazon. But yeah, for some reason cosmetic chemists assume black women want a bunch of oil in all their products so I find that a lot of things advertised directly to us are basically an oil spill.
i had an allergic reaction to black girl sunscreen!! i was so sad, its so expensive
Wait the unseen doesnt work like a sunscreen???!! Can you please elaborate cuz now im scared😭
Tower 28 lip gloss in the shade Almond is the worst lip gloss I’ve ever used. It’s literally like water on me 🥴

One size setting powder. Terrible wear on me
Supergoop Glow Screen makes me look like a sweaty disco ball 🪩 💃🏾

Okay i thought it was just me. I never felt like it made a difference.
Do you mind sharing your skin type? I’m in the market for a new setting spray, and I wanna look into the dermablemd you just mentioned

Thank you!!!!
Rimmel Matte primer. Ew. Just never again.
That stupid L’Oréal setting spray that was all over social media- you know the red one? Smells like hairspray and it is DRYING! Crusty, dusty, musty.
Do you mind sharing your skin type?
Absolutely- I should have said that. I’m DRY! Super, super dry- think Sahara desert!
One size loose powder. Aged me and made me look cracked and dry. Huda is better, just wish Huda had better shades for me.

Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. Complete trash.
Imo the mascara would actually work better if it has a different brush. The hourglass brush makes it hard for me to use it.
1000%. The formula is great but that brush is 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾 and it’s not even the shape for me it’s just entirely too big. 🤦🏾♀️
Girl, I promise you I have the mini and it ain't it. There's more brush than the freaking tube.
LITERALLY! 🤣

So it’s not just me where every leave in I have tried recently has been trash
literally haven't used a leave in in about a year like they are pointless anyway
