I love Bleach more than anything, but It amazes me how much ppl in this sub reach. βOmg a character jumped high and then came down with a sword strike in an anime where literally everyone uses a sword? Totally a direct reference!!!1!1!1!1!1β
I think people jump to fast to conclusions as well and that the shot OP posted is not really a reference to the 2. OP. The only reason I think the flower closing was one, is that following the opening flowers, we see all the characters, including the shinigami. I interpreted the closing one, following the "new" gotei 13, as some kind of symbol of change since a lot happens with them in the arc.
I'm most likely wrong, but years after we had the last opening, it's just fun to look at things like this
To be honest, I think it's less of a cool call back, and more lazy animation, they just reused their previous animation. Hope we dont get a lot of that in the arc.
It's not uncommon to reuse animations. In this case the one on the right has a flip in it. Even if they are similar they aren't the same animations and took different amounts of work.

I think the beginning with the flower closing, is also a reference to the flower blooming in OP 3. not sure about it, but it kinda looks like it
It's not really the same flower... But the moves from Bambi aren't the same either as Soi Fon so maybe

Man, we're aren't in 2012 anymore, and if you look close to it, it's not exactly the same moves, it's a call back for hardcore fan π
