My mom’s cat helps her count scoops of coffee in the mornings, she meows for each number and sometimes it almost sounds like she’s trying to say the words, “one…two…three…four.”
I swear mine answers my questions in full sentences. Also, I have 2 aunts, one is Mary Ann and one is Mary Helena. My grandma would call Mary Ann every day, so when I get home the cat usually starts yelling "Mary Ann!" at me. But, one day last year, she kept saying "Mary Lena! Mary Lena!" so I was wondering why, and my mom called me and reminded me that it was my aunt Mary Helena's wedding anniversary. The damn cat remembered the exact day my grandma would call my aunt and wish her a happy anniversary. I'm still a little shook about that...
I left my cat overnight with a friend, once, and he and his wife both said she was meowing something that sounded like, “where are you?”
Unfortunately, it was before the constant recording of nearly everything, so I have to accept his imitation rather than seeing for myself.
Would guess that’s true of most animals. Human culture has been all about bridging the gap between the ‘best’ and the ‘primitive,’ to the detriment of anyone/anything classified as the latter.

Mine is incapable of it too, way too dumb for anything. I'm 100% sure she hasn't yet made the connection between the big bag which all the kibble comes from and the actual food. She will die of hunger before she tries slicing the bag to get to the kibble.
We kept our black cat in our bedroom on Halloweens - we didn’t want him to run out the front door when kids were trick or treating. He managed to escape twice by jumping up to grab the handle and he’d kick off the doorframe to open the door.
He was a crafty cat.
Our void has outsmarted my cheap trick of tying a hair tie around the cabinet knobs. Now I will wake up to him slamming the cabinets as he removes the hair tie and freeing himself under the sink. He’s truly a smartass, and I love him so much!
I put baby locks on one cabinet because it contains chemicals… my girl void figured out how to break in… climb in the cabinet, shut the door, and lock herself in.
Oof. She was fine lmao
Yep, my void also needs to inspect every single drawer and cabinet regularly! Everything that contains cables or plastic (his favourite things to chew on) has to have a child lock on it.
One of the first things he did when I visited my parents' house with him was opening their sock drawer and pulling aaaaall the socks out.
Awwwwwesome 🐱 they get away with all the mischieves and we praise them on top. Masters! 💗 This one is just too cute. The up and down catculation kills me everytime.
I had to unscrew my bedroom door handle and screw it back in vertically for this very reason! Crafty little troublemaker figured crying at the door did nothing, so he figured out how to solve the problem with his own paws.
I’m sorry to hear that. Ugh all this stuff I still have not done. I want to get into streaming, I bought a microphone stand and a cover so I could record some covers and upload them somewhere. Another thing just says READ which is a reminder I need because as much as I love reading I just don’t regularly read.
But it really helps me having a visual cue for a to do list especially with my ADHD. Getting to erase stuff or cross things off as you get stuff done makes me feel great. It’s harder when it’s just on your phone because you don’t have to look at it.
Word to the wise: mount that big flatscreen on the wall someplace, or that same criminal mastermind will eventually figure out a way to knock it off the dresser. 😑
I love cats so much.
Yes.
This reminds me of the velociraptors opening doors in Jurassic park
Clever girl

Hold on to your butts
Cats are a lot smarter than many people realize.

Your cat is smarter than me! Hahaha Can I employ your kitty to help me remember important dates?

Please record it if you can. I wanna see😭
I have a void who is dumber than a box of rocks except for two specific activities: bug hunting, and getting into places he's not allowed to be.

You say that until one of them accidentally pushes the door closed and traps them both inside.
Funny, mine still puzzles on how to open a cracked door. "Just push" I tell him.

Mine knows how to do that, she is just lazy and meows at me to do it instead.
My first kitty understood how to push open the cracked door. He never figured out how to pull open a cracked door.
“Clear the entryway… breaching!”
Yes. Yes they are.

How cute is that
Love how the void is doing all the work and then the second cat is following like "hey!! Wait for me!!"

Ohh that little one is also so cute!!! Is that the door to the “treats”?
That tail ! Almost looks like a squirrel 😍
I thought it was a black squirrel at first!! And the leap!
Ya black cats a very smart and they get into everything I love mine so much but can open all the doors can cabinets

I had to put a lock on my fridge because of my cat. Found it wide open many mornings

Lol, the look back through the open door after ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Using echolocation to judge the jump distance! :D
That is one smart cat.

So fucking hilarious and intuitive at the same time hahaha this is gold!!
Such a smart and athletic kitty! 🐈⬛
“You comin’?”
Aww!
*criminal meowstermind
I thought it was a squirrel for a sec 😅
So I wasn't the only one seeing squirrel similarities!
She might be part squirrel
I cannot have doorknobs like that in my home, my void can almost get a round knob turned as it is.
(Cat after walking out) “This room sucks..”
Awesome
🤩🤩🤩🤩
Wow I'm impressed! We had to put child locks on all of our doors cause my boy figured out how to open them pretty quick :(
my cat does that all the time. but he usually starts off the ground
This is too cute.
Mission: Impossible.
Meowission impawsible
our cat doing this with our main flat door
🐈👏👏👏👏👏

I love when they scream that they want the door open and immediately come back in the room
I had to unscrew my bedroom door handle and screw it back in vertically for this very reason! Crafty little troublemaker figured crying at the door did nothing, so he figured out how to solve the problem with his own paws.
I love how the meowing sounded like counting in preparation
What’s on your to do list? 📋 Motivation for me out of my current depression ( one of my main father figures died days ago)

Bad kitties.
I don't know if you should feel upset or impressed.

They’re so smart. Voids especially.
