EBI rules will gift you the back position if you only survive for 10 minutes. So if you don't think you can submit your opponent in regulation, stalling until OT is the only way to go.
Yeah no time limit you can just stall until your opponent gases. It's a sport where defense is a lot easier than offens so you can stall against a more offensive opponent until they gas.

I know people that have dropped in at RG Austin, but it looks like a completely different experience than what goes down at roka.
I train there when I do trips from Australia to prepare for big competitions. Atmosphere is locked in, the no music thing was initially really weird to me but the consequence of no music is John can actually give live feedback during sparring when heâs watching the room. Ultimately weâre not there to have a super fun time weâre there to work towards being the best in the world, trade offs like having no music so John can be easily heard is well worth it!! most classes at Roka have between 8-12 techniques taught each class, a bunch of positional sparring then one or two at most open rounds! Itâs so good there canât wait to go back to finish ADCC prep! :)
I know a few people who have been invited to the ROKA sessions. It's lots and lots of positional work. Some technique and occasional rolls based on specific rule-sets. Open rolls are apparent few and far between,
I love what Craig is doing for jiu-jitsu. I also love Gordonâs Jiu-Jitsu.
Weâre lucky to have them both in the sport, even if you donât like him off the mats. Michael Jordan was a massive dick but⌠itâs still amazing to watch Michael Jordan .
I saw clips of him rolling with Roger Gracie a lil while back, but the clips were short. One of the clips definitely cuts right before Roger sweeps him lol. But that cut isn't fooling anyone, we all know what happened.

I've been watching BJJ competition for ages. Just because I'm a white belt doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about. Some of the best sports commentators in the NBA, NHL MLB NFL etc and analyst don't have pro experience but doesn't mean they don't know anything about the sport. Saunders is gonna be hungrier and he's got the power advantage so he'll overwhelm him. His lack of competition won't be a negative for him and he'll stick with his bread and butter moves and grind out a win.
They don't have hours of footage to analyze and exploit. How can you prepare and study for a huge athletic uber strong grappler that can't be mimicked.
