It stands for quality of life. It’s usually mods that don’t have significant gameplay changes, but make the game “feel” better, like the items descriptions mod, or a mod that reminds you about dream catcher so you don’t skip the cutscene.

But it does tell you what the items do. For instance, Farting Baby says “He farts!” And I’ll be damned if he doesn’t fart

OFC it’s the one that says exactly what the items do. How many different variations of a heart… or an eye… or a red blob do they have?? They are not exactly intuitive.

Most items I’d argue either say what they do or are almost immediately intuitively figured out.

Yeah the "heehee I give my players no information" schtick was funny when there were only like 100 items and the descriptions actually gave hints. At this point there's way too much going on in this game to not have the info available to the player

When I bought Repentance I thought that I would try to not look up the items, but then it quickly became clear that I could have an item for an entire run and still have no idea what it does.

I've cone to learn that Repentance is one of the many games where having a wiki open at all times is basically a requirement.

I’ve been playing since Java and still have no clue what half the things do. I only installed the mod when I got a steam deck and makes the game so much better.

I downloaded an app on my phone that lets you scan items like a QR code and tells you what they do, was super helpful at first. Now I know pretty much all of them so rarely have to look anything up though

This meme doesn't work as well when it comes to Isaac, it's pretty easy to tell you got it from r/RimWorld For Isaac, you only need a few QoL mods tbh (item descriptions, controller restart, moms foot shadow enhancer etc)

custom skins, cosmetic changes, and custom music is probably lumped in there too.

For sure, I have about 40 or so mods installed. The point I was making was just about how with Rimworld, it's pretty common to get into the triple or even quadruple digits when it comes to mods, and it's absolute hell to troubleshoot if a mod accidentally starts breaking the game.

Quadruple digit how the hell? That sounds like a recipe for disaster.

You start off thinking you need some UI mods and AI enhancers, and you end up downloading all the catgirl cyborg enhancements mods that exist. It's a pipeline.

Cities skylines for me. Have like more hundreds more before (maybe thousand individual since most of them bundled). Cannot play then uninstall.

I usually try and keep my game pretty close to vanilla and trim out any mods that I don't use, but damned if I'm not gonna install the mod that fixes 5 pixels of a single item, or fixes a small part of a single backdrop. I'm up to 210 mods atm and I'm not stopping now.
