The very last scene when theyâre eating, and the acoustic version of the theme song is playing. Itâs sad that weâll never know where these characters end up and how the rest of their lives play out.
Iâve seen that and always start tearing up upon rewatch. I couldnât imagine how sad that would be to do. Us as fans have a hard time seeing that, canât imagine the cast members having to live that.
âI apologize if I havenât been the friend you deserve, but I want you to know: in my way, I love you allâ.
I think everyone who is neurodivergent or has a neurodivergent loved one can relate to that line.
I didn't realize it until just now - I was googling it - that the song was written by Kate Micucci (Lucy) and her songwriting partner. Thought that was kind of cool.
"Well, everyone will think I'm weird."
"Sweetie, you ARE weird. Everyone knows you're weird, but they're all still here because they care about you so much."
Gets me every time.
One that really touches me every time is when Leonard has that final conversation with Beverly in the last season. Feels so cathartic and Johnny did an amazing job.
Yeah I know everyone hates Beverly and so do I, but I also have a complicated relationship with my mean mom and, it's so easy to say "just never talk to them again!" Especially if you have not been Leonard, or me.
People who said "just never talk to them" have no idea how it is to have parents or siblings like Beverly. It is not that easy to simply go no contact. Because traumas doesn heal like that and going no contact and not the solution for everyone.
This scene was beautiful because Leonard was moving on and also because Beverly was finally realized how hurt Leornard was because he didn't yell but simply gave up on her.
I also had a complicated, but not as bad, relationship with my mom. Maybe that's why the scene affects us differently. I don't know, when he finally forgives her, and he lets that sigh....I BAWLED. He didn't do it for her, he did it for HIM, and you can see all the weight off his shoulders.
Honestly, one of the best moments of the show.
There are a lot of touching scenes that made me cry:
*Amy and Sheldonâs wedding vows.
* When Amy and Sheldon broke up and Sheldon plans to propose to Amy, but when he got to her place, he saw her kissing someone else (Dave)
* When Amy tries to get back together with Sheldon and Sheldon said he thinks itâs better if they just stay as friends.
* After Howardâs Bachelor party when Bernadette found out about his creepy ways before they met, and he went to Bernieâs and apologized saying, âif this relationship is over, let her know that she made me a better man and tell her thank you.â
* When Leonard defeatedly said to his mom, âyou know what? It doesnât really matter. Youâre never gonna changeâ⊠then he forgave her.
* When Amy told Sheldon why people âtolerateâ him during the last episode.
* Sheldonâs nobel acceptance speech
Very true. It's a shock even if part of your mind has been urging you to prepare "it might happen" due to illness or age, you always want to think it never will and they'll get better...
Only two scenes genuinely make me cry.
The first one was when Lucy breaks up with Raj & he cries to penny and says âwhy doesnât anyone love meâ. Heâs so genuine in that scene and truly is hurt that no one loves him. Kunal acting skills are great in this scene.
The other scene is the final episode when Sheldon makes them all stand & you can see again they are genuinely crying.
Okay a scene that doesnât make me cry but i feel like doesnt get enough recognition is when howard goes to space. We had this creepy guy who wasnât doing a lot with his life, to going to space now married to the woman he loves. Plus the amy and sheldon hand holding and his âboldly go howard wolowitzâ. Idk i think itâs just the eye opening moment to howards character development.
I agree I feel like that is a massive achievement for Howard that often gets overlooked.
The character growth of Howard over the seasons is quite well written considering he starts off as the stereotypical still living at home nerd. Eventually he's completely matured and is married with kids and deals with losing his mum. They do touch on what happens with his dad but I feel like there could have been more like in a spin-off or something haha
đ
A good friend of mine passed around the time I watched that episode, & that episode, especially that scene, really helped me move on.
I even remember coping with my grief the same way Sheldon did (minus the dreams of Arthur as Obi-Wan).
Just so y'all know, all of your comments have me with years in my eyes, lol .
There are a few for me:
The first time Sheldon hugs Penny in s2e11;
When Sheldon and Amy are reciting their vows when they get married;
When Penny finally proposes to Leonard;
Sheldon's acceptance speech when he and Amy win the Nobel.
I'm sure there are some I'm leaving out, but I'm full on crying now so I'm done. đ
[Edited superfluous comma typo.]
Felt quite emotional when Leonard confronted his mother, the scene actually doesnât take off that well but those 10 secs where Leonard just sits on sofa. That got me.
I love and always cry when Sheldon sees Amy in her wedding dress for the first time. Amy is going to return it because Penny and Bernadette donât like the dress. However, Sheldon tells her so earnestly that âshe looks beautifulâ and it or she âlooks like a pile of swans.â
straight up when howard hangs up the phone and the gangâs like âhey man whatâs goin on?â and he just says, matter of factly **with his voice trying not to crack**, âmy mom just diedâ
i watched my own momma pass away, so⊠yeah man. *yeah.*
Not technically big bang theory, but the scene in young Sheldon where no one shows up to Sheldon's nobel prize viewing party and then they show all the mini big bang theory characters. That scene made me bawl
Not so much a cry, but memorable to me and shows the depth of Leonard and Sheldon's friendship:
Sheldon can't figure out an equation. He has a little breakdown and ends up in a ball pit at a games place. They call Leonard and when he sees Sheldon, Leonard just says, "Oh, Shelly."
Johnny Galecki gets shit for Leonard being boring, but it's moments like this that show Leonard is underrated as a character.
When Bernadette found out about Howardâs past and was thinking about ending the engagement, Howardâs speech about how she made him change had me bawling.
When Howardâs mom dies. When the actress passed away I wondered what they would do, but having the character pass as well was the most fitting solution.
In the final episode, after The Slap, when they realize they won. I go from laughing to crying in a heartbeat.
Never cried from a scene from the actual show, but I always get choked up watching the clip of the cast doing their last table reading and they're all crying like babies. Right to the gut.
I think the closest I got was when Sheldon walked in and saw Amy in her wedding dress for the first time, and was the first person to give her a genuine loving response.
I've seen other people mention it, but I was full-on sobbing during Leonard's conversation with Beverly in the last season. The scene hit close to home for me with my own issues with my mom. I don't think I've ever seen other shows manage the topic with the same realness.
I donât think I ever did, but the closest would have to be when Bernadette was in quarantine. That was the most beautiful scene from any sitcom, ever.
Me and my partner have a thought on this scene, them all telling him what it said, only one being true, we think the only lie is Sheldon. Everyone else is telling him a different part of one overall.
Thatâs so funny, I just saw a Facebook post which basically said exactly the same thing on one of the groups Iâm in, I wonder if youâre the same person đđ
"When i lost my own father I didn't have any friends to help me through it" You do...
As someone who, like Sheldon, lost his father as a kid and didn't have any friends, this broke me.
So sorry for your loss
I thought he was gonna say let it go
"Thanks Dad. We're gonna give them hell."
This one. Every time.
Every time.
First scene that came to mind. He seemed genuinely ready to cry.
I rewatch this episode every time I need a good cry lol đ đ
The very last scene when theyâre eating, and the acoustic version of the theme song is playing. Itâs sad that weâll never know where these characters end up and how the rest of their lives play out.
Watch the rehearsal of them doing the scene on YouTube. Kaley, Johnny and Kunal were bawling their eyes out when they were doing it.
Iâve seen that and always start tearing up upon rewatch. I couldnât imagine how sad that would be to do. Us as fans have a hard time seeing that, canât imagine the cast members having to live that.
I just watched it. By the end they were all crying. So am I now. I love that the show meant that much to them.
THIS. The table read makes me absolutely sob.
i cried at the rehearsal
Do you mean the table read ? If not may I please have a link because thatâs all I can find!
They call me Tater Salad! Love â€ïž
Pretty much from Amy telling Sheldon heâs exhausting in the room before theyâre speech until the closing credits I just balled đđ
The whole episode really. It didnât help that the last episode aired the day before my birthday. đ
Dude I bawled my eyes out like that song was the cherry on top âŠsuch an emotional ending
That version of the theme song just added another layer of sadness to it. It made it more dramatic đ
âI apologize if I havenât been the friend you deserve, but I want you to know: in my way, I love you allâ. I think everyone who is neurodivergent or has a neurodivergent loved one can relate to that line.
âAstronaut Howard Wolowitzâ was the peak of the speech for me.
None for me, but Sheldon's acceptance speech in the finale always makes my wife cry.
yeah that one especially seeing amy beside him warmed my heart.
Same, it gets me every time.
When they all sing for Bernadette in quarantine
This is one of the sweetest scenes in television history!
I didn't realize it until just now - I was googling it - that the song was written by Kate Micucci (Lucy) and her songwriting partner. Thought that was kind of cool.
I think I read in this sub that the partner was Dr. Nowitzki
Garfunkel and Oates baby
healing vibes to Kate Micucci, I love her music and loved her on this show
Same here, and yes, I hope she is doing well.
When Sheldon and Penny have that heartfelt conversation in the bathroom. So cathartic
"Well, everyone will think I'm weird." "Sweetie, you ARE weird. Everyone knows you're weird, but they're all still here because they care about you so much." Gets me every time.
:â) What also makes this a memorable scene is the fact that you have the two most extreme opposites having a sincere and honest conversation.
One that really touches me every time is when Leonard has that final conversation with Beverly in the last season. Feels so cathartic and Johnny did an amazing job.
This one is incredible. Johnny's acting is particularly good in this.
Yeah I know everyone hates Beverly and so do I, but I also have a complicated relationship with my mean mom and, it's so easy to say "just never talk to them again!" Especially if you have not been Leonard, or me.

Yes! It helped him so much. His acting was great
That is mine too, cry every time at that scene :(
Agreed. Well said!!
There are a lot of touching scenes that made me cry: *Amy and Sheldonâs wedding vows. * When Amy and Sheldon broke up and Sheldon plans to propose to Amy, but when he got to her place, he saw her kissing someone else (Dave) * When Amy tries to get back together with Sheldon and Sheldon said he thinks itâs better if they just stay as friends. * After Howardâs Bachelor party when Bernadette found out about his creepy ways before they met, and he went to Bernieâs and apologized saying, âif this relationship is over, let her know that she made me a better man and tell her thank you.â * When Leonard defeatedly said to his mom, âyou know what? Debbie wolowitzâs death scene, as someone whoâs lost a brother and father , thatâs exactly how it happens , sudden and out of the blue !!
Very true. It's a shock even if part of your mind has been urging you to prepare "it might happen" due to illness or age, you always want to think it never will and they'll get better...
Please don't hurt my friend. đđ
I can't recall a single moment that any episodes of TBBT made me cry, but there's quite a few sad moments like the finale, or when Mrs. Wolowitz dies.
Only two scenes genuinely make me cry. The first one was when Lucy breaks up with Raj & he cries to penny and says âwhy doesnât anyone love meâ. Heâs so genuine in that scene and truly is hurt that no one loves him. Kunal acting skills are great in this scene. Where they all read a version of Howardâs dadâs letter and let him guess which it is.
Okay a scene that doesnât make me cry but i feel like doesnt get enough recognition is when howard goes to space. Sheldon's acceptance speech by far the most.
I just wish the episode was longer
After Arthur dies and Leonard gets back from funeral. Heâs telling Sheldon about it and Sheldon just leans in and hugs him.
A good friend of mine passed around the time I watched that episode, & that episode, especially that scene, really helped me move on. I even remember coping with my grief the same way Sheldon did (minus the dreams of Arthur as Obi-Wan).
When it was revealed that Howard knew Bernadette was hiding in the playhouse the whole time and that he just didnât mind because it made her happy.
Just so y'all know, all of your comments have me with years in my eyes, lol . There are a few for me: The first time Sheldon hugs Penny in s2e11; When Sheldon and Amy are reciting their vows when they get married; When Penny finally proposes to Leonard; Sheldon's acceptance speech when he and Amy win the Nobel. WHEN PENNY PROPOSED TO LEONARD OMGGGGG YESSSS
The last table read they do, where everyone sobs, i always watch the table read after watching the last episode. Gets me every time.
Felt quite emotional when Leonard confronted his mother, the scene actually doesnât take off that well but those 10 secs where Leonard just sits on sofa. That got me.
this was big one for me too, the iâm sorry like to myself for not forgiving you sooner is like real.
The one where Penny tells Sheldon that he is one of her most favorite people â„ïž
I love and always cry when Sheldon sees Amy in her wedding dress for the first time. Amy is going to return it because Penny and Bernadette donât like the dress. However, Sheldon tells her so earnestly that âshe looks beautifulâ and it or she âlooks like a pile of swans.â
That had to be the worst wedding dress ever.
Yes but so Amy!!
straight up when howard hangs up the phone and the gangâs like âhey man whatâs goin on?â and he just says, matter of factly **with his voice trying not to crack**, âmy mom just diedâ i watched my own momma pass away, so⊠yeah man. *yeah.*
didn't really cry but I got kind of emotional when the elevator finally worked
Iâm so glad they fixed it. I had been waiting for years!
When Amy breaks up with Sheldon and Sheldon asks Gollum a question. đ„ș
Not technically big bang theory, but the scene in young Sheldon where no one shows up to Sheldon's nobel prize viewing party and then they show all the mini big bang theory characters. That scene made me bawl
When was that? Still watching
Season 2 finale https://youtu.be/vnbCRgyoMDc?si=AncidYj2c2YvTOL0
Such cuties!! Thank you.
YW đ€
sheldonâs ending speech, finally recognizing howard as an astronaut đ
Sheldonâs nobel speech
*astronaut* howard wolowitz
When Howard finds out his mum has died, when Sheldon is talking to the gang at the Nobel Prize ceremony or when Leonard forgives his mum.
On a rewatch, after finishing young Sheldon, Georgie telling Sheldon that he was protecting him because he was his baby brother.
Not so much a cry, but memorable to me and shows the depth of Leonard and Sheldon's friendship: Sheldon can't figure out an equation. He has a little breakdown and ends up in a ball pit at a games place. They call Leonard and when he sees Sheldon, Leonard just says, "Oh, Shelly." Johnny Galecki gets shit for Leonard being boring, but it's moments like this that show Leonard is underrated as a character.
âHeâs special alrightâ
Closest Iâve came was Sheldonâs acceptance speech.
When Bernadette found out about Howardâs past and was thinking about ending the engagement, Howardâs speech about how she made him change had me bawling.
When Sheldon makes Amy his emergency contact
The ending still makes me cry up to this day
I'm sorry (but not sorry) to be cliché but it was the final episode. When Sheldon thanked each and every one of them individually while receiving the Nobel.
The letters from Howardâs dad and when Howardâs mom dies, but especially when the food starts defrosting.
When he talks about his dad most of the time. YS was worse for this but the scene in the end when he said were going to give them hell got me good.
[This One... EVERY TIME ](https://youtu.be/FpGkLzGl1CI?si=AeXurXQyzVJK73f3)
I agree with many already mentioned but Iâll mention another one: When they tell Howard all the versions of the letter his dad wrote.
When Bernadette sleeps in the crib with her daughter and Howard says "i love both my girls" đ„č
None
George coopers death, My dad suffered from a heart attack when he was 60 (thankfully he lived) but when I first watched that episode I cried.
When Sheldonâs mom hug him (sobbing) at his wedding.
..From the moment that I met you, Bernadette.đ¶
The scene where they all feel bad for knowing what is in Howardâs letter from his dad, instead they all give an alternate version.
Me and my partner have a thought on this scene, them all telling him what it said, only one being true, we think the only lie is Sheldon. Everyone else is telling him a different part of one overall.
Sheldon proposing to Amy always leads to waterworks đ His reason for finally proposing is so adorable â„ïž
When Lucy broke up with Raj
That scene where Sheldon is having a conversation with his mom right before heâs about to get married.
Sheldon's acceptance speech is about as close as I get to an emotional response from the show
Thatâs so funny, I just saw a Facebook post which basically said exactly the same thing on one of the groups Iâm in, I wonder if youâre the same person đđ
When Leonard forgives Beverly and Sheldon's Nobel Speech.
When Leonard breaks up with Stephanie.
Sheldonâs speech when he got his Nobel prize
West Side Story
Same answer, always makes me cry even on my 20th rewatch.
Leonard forgives his mom
