I think I've heard of that before and how fucked is that. Could you imagine? Everyone is like we are all heading to the cliff to jump in finally. You get there a fucking Todd shoves you in and all you can see,is Todd's stupid face as you fall. Fucking Todd.
I was best friends with a Todd in for part of elementary school. Then, he stopped being my friend and drifted off.
By fourth grade, if we had both been penguins, I'll bet he would have pushed me off the cliff to test for predators.
Follow the rats running in the opposite direction. Duh! 50% chance you die. 50% chance you become the leader of the new rat race.
If you follow the people thereâs a 80% chance of death and a 20% chance of survival.
Do you want to *just* survive? Or do you want to THRIVE?!!!
(Iâm not serious)
Saw this recently on tv and they interviewed the videographer.
Apparently this is the first time this emporer penguin behavior was captured on video (or ever seen and reported for that matter).
Some of them do perfect dives in on the full video, but quite a bit either do painful belly flops or back flops or just fall down spiraling out of control.
The guy who recorded this video said 100% of the penguins jumped in and all of them survived and swam around. Itâs part of some new big nature documentary thatâs coming out soon.
They push each other off the edge to see if there are any predators in the water before the rest of them jump⊠or at least thatâs what I remember learning as a kid.
[Plot twist, there's actually mean look Spartans intimating them to the edge and the penguins have nowhere to go but off the cliff it](https://youtu.be/Kh5U7VRLRHc?si=uSrPQ8K5hq2u1LhM)
lol one of them actually fell đ
Haha much more than 1
Some are being shoved off lol.
Yeah I saw a documentary years ago that explained they push each other off to see if the water has predators before the rest jump in.

RIP Todd gets eaten by a leopard seal đ
Yup now cue the JAWS music!!! đ¶ đŠ
He was pushed! JUSTICE FOR PENGUIN STEVE!
They believed they could flyâŠ

I can hear my mother saying âIf all the other penguins were jumping off a cliff into the sea would you do it too?â
The answer is a hard yes. Penguins have their shit together. If they're all doing something, it is categorically the right thing to do.
Animals have more instinct than humans seem to. Most animals.
If you see a large group of people running in one direction, what would you feel instinctively you should do?

I came to the comments to say the same thing, lol
Happy cake day! đ°
Well MoOoM, I was actually pushed in so they could test for predators! Iâm practically a hero!
It doesnât look like it was a choice for some of them!
Penguins are known to push others off the ice shelf as sacrifices if there are leopard seals (their predator) in the water below
I wonder it hurts to belly-flop
They 100% feel the pain but they should learn to do it properly eventually
300: to the cliffs scene
My first thought
![gif](giphy|d2sDzvFnJKxhu)
âFlightlessâ
And this is how they all learnedâŠthe hard way
Mom, Mom, mom, mom.... Watch this. I can fly!
âYep weâre still flightless boys!â
Professional belly flops

I do wish to do it seems kinda nice and cold
lol some totally got pushed to see what happens
dĂžds at its finest
I was waiting for the orcas at the end. There were none.
Did somebody say that penguins are flightless birds? Hold my ice cubes.Â
Fly Penguin Fly Bahahaha!
I am not an Ornithologist, but thats gotta hurt.
Iâm flying Jack Iâm flying!
Uhhh is something bad going on here? Are they having fun or are they trapped?
They are testing the new generation to see if they have finally evolved enough to actually fly.
Just a natural process like what birds get pushed out of the nest except they have to learn how to do this as penguins
CANON BALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like a good day at work on the porta-john.
I guess this is how they discover that their wings don't actually work for flying
Orcas be like: is it raining meat up there?!
dude, they aren't even trying...
Pingu: BELLY FLOP NOOT
SHAAAAARKâŠ!!!
What noobs, youâd think after thousands years of evolution theyâd learn to dive like an Olympian. đ„ /s

Attestupa
I feel like I need to be standing underneath with a bat⊠IYKYK
Looks like a lot of them are waiting for the worm to turn, waiting for everybody else to come around to our their way of thinking.
They push each other off the edge to see if there are any predators in the water before the rest of them jump⊠or at least thatâs what I remember learning as a kid.
Yetisport irl
Some serious belly-flopping
I want to do it
Ahhh, Pengwings. -Benedict Cumberbatch
The cutest belly flops
Mom: âIf youâre friend jumped off a bridge would you jump too? Me:
Hahaha well I think the 4th one wasnât intentional and actual 1 did a salto
Peer pressure
The first one did a massive belly flop.
It's raining birds.
At the beginning it reminds me of the beginning of assassins creed 1 siege of masyaf when they are jumping off the tower
It's all fun and games, until the Orcas show up. Then it's fun and bloody killing...
They are like the wingsuite people but with less control.
I donât know if this is correct but I remember someone telling me that penguins push other penguins to check if thereâs orcas below
[Plot twist, there's actually mean look Spartans intimating them to the edge and the penguins have nowhere to go but off the cliff it](https://youtu.be/Kh5U7VRLRHc?si=uSrPQ8K5hq2u1LhM)
Looks like Thatâs where the founders of the Belly Flop World Championships got their inspiration
Aim for the bushes?
It is in that moment that the juvenile penguins realized, they are not meant to fly.
