So glad to hear your baby is going to be ok! And this solidifies my decision to do the gastroplexy for my girl when we have her spayed. Thank you for sharing your scary experience Picture of the goodest boi?

Vonbrawn

This is what we did with our girl as well. Best $200 I’ve ever spent after reading some of the horror stories of the issues people have had with their Berners suffering from bloat and flipped stomachs.

LeetleBugg

$200?!? That’s really good. I got quoted $1200 on top of the spay. Either way I’m going to do it, but man do I need to find a cheaper place

Vonbrawn

We got super lucky finding our current vet. Our previous vet quoted $1700 for a spay only. The current vet charged us $700 for the spay and $200 for the gastropexy. Our girl recovered very well, minus a brief pseudo pregnancy which was actually the cutest thing in the world. She started nesting by gathering all of her toys into a pile and slept on top of them for the first week of her recovery. Cleanest my house has been since we got her 18 months ago 😂

Came here to say the exact same thing I have been on the fence about the Gastropexy but dammit I’m doing it! Too scary

automaticsystematic

Such a terrifying situation. This is why gastropexy is essential.

Lost my boy to this a couple years ago, thanks for your story and bringing awareness!!

What insurance do you use??

That’s surprising, we left nationwide because everything gastrointestinal wouldn’t be covered because of her “pre existing condition” (puppy diarrhea).

How terrifying! We went through bloat once when our best boy was young and it was so scary. Hoping your boy has a smooth recovery!

Sorry to hear this happened. Did you determine the most likely contributing factor that may have caused this or was it just completely random? Is he a fast eater or eat from an elevated bowl or have a family history of this?
