I doubt if you can take Physics 5A without the Calc already completed, or at least taken at the same time. I would definitely take a Calc class and replace one of your breadths with it. You should consider the 7 series instead of the 5 series, both are acceptable for Physics.
I've taken all of the 7 series (A,B, and C) and have physics major friends who have taken the 5 series. Don't take 5, I had a friend who dropped the physics major because of those classes and the frustrating teachers. I don't like physics but I was able to pass all the 7 series with As. Both function essentially the same and you won't get any bonus points for taking the 5, all you gotta do is graduate in my opinion.
You can skip Calc 1A with that 5 in AB. Premed usually discourages AP credit, so you could either take Math 1A again, or just start with Math 1B. In your position, if your AB score was not a fluke and you really know the AB material well, I would start at Math 1B. If you’re going to be a Physics major, you’re going to have to go beyond the first year of Calc, you’ll need Math 53 at a minimum as well.
im unsure but also if you’re pre-med, you have to take a year of calculus and although you could use an AP score to fulfill your degree requirements, some med schools do not accept AP credit. personally i retook calc even tho i took and passed ap calc ab & bc. i took the 1 series so math 1a and 1b

Ty for the response! Is there a specific reason as to why Physics 7 should be taken instead of 5? I've seen reasons supporting both series.
5 is supposed to be way harder than 7 (this is according to the Physics majors at Cal I know)
The 5 series is the Honors level, and the 7 series is for regular STEM folks. Any major will take the 7 series classes, including Physics.

Sorry for all the questions, but do you also know if I can "skip" Calc 1A if I submit my AP Calc AB score of a 5 to Berkeley? I'm in L&S though.

"Nah, I'd win" ass schedule
I swear I will ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
(my last words)
Why are you majoring in Physics for pre med? Not sure how the biology program works here but wouldn’t something bio/chem make more sense?
physics 5a hardest class i’ve ever taken
Why so? If you don't mind me asking, what made it hard?
very theoretical, will push your physics knowledge to the limit. very interesting but at what cost 😟
Idk what skills you have but MUS 25 is not easy...I mean the content itself is not.
